Totally wonderful! We had visited other motels, checking out rooms before we found this gem. The others had rude staff, dirty and tiny rooms, and high prices. The Surfside has a friendly staff always asking if you need anything and available to meet you at the office. The price is right. The rooms are clean and spacious. We are between places right now and we feel at home and safe here. Just a nice cozy space. The desk in the room is a nice touch. There's also a sofa couch so you have somewhere to hang out and watch tv instead of just sitting in bed. The sink is outside of the bathroom with ample counter space for all your products. The refrigerator is larger than a mini fridge. And there's a microwave. Super clean. Also, there's something really special about the beach and boardwalk in the winter. Nice and quiet. read more

As soon as you walk in , the lobby smells like cigars and smoke . The steps walking up to room are wooden and loose . The rooms smell like stale hotel , the bed was broke , the shower in the bathroom has rust and mold even on the shower rods . This place is a total dump, when we checked in the lady was very rude. Another person that was checking in said that the room was not ready. There was no bedding in the room was dirty. The lady at the desk sent to her quote. "You will have to wait. What do you want me to do about it I had a person call in sick today" walking on the balcony to our room you felt like you were going to fall through in spots. It was very spongy. The room itself was supposed to be 175 ft.² and it was 11 x 13 very small dark dirty, the shower rod was rusty, the switch plates were so dirty. They were sticky went outlet did not even work. The bed was broken. There was mold around the air conditioner along the floor molding a big hole under the sink where the pipe came through, could not even open a window as they were painted shut, door did not close tight had a big gap around. It had a hard time to even get it locked. We did not even want to stay once we walked in the room, but they would not give us our money back. I was told it was a non-smoking motel, which was not true at all the people smoking all over the place, there was even garbage piled up behind the stairs. It's been 6 hours since I checked into this motel and promptly checked out, and I'm still skeeved. We were met with the overwhelming stench of mold and grime when we entered our room, so I decided to do a sweep. The bed skirts were COVERED in mold and other foulness. The shower was moldy, the comforters were ripped, the mattresses were ripped and stained, there were stains all over the walls, the bed was broken and sunken in the middle, the furniture and chairs were all ripped and stained, and the door barely closed. I headed to the lobby (which reeked of cigarettes) to politely let them know I would be checking out and was met with a huge attitude from the attendant. The location is good if you want to be near the boardwalk. At night it is extremely loud and hard to sleep. We were there during Prom weekend and the front desk did their best to give us a room far away , but it didn't help. There were teens running around everywhere and no place to park. The Motel itself is very old and some places on the walkways felt very soft and unsafe. The rooms are as clean as possible, but very old and run down. I would not stay there again. read more

This place was absolutely foul, even by ratty motel standards. I should have known upon waking in the room that we shouldn't have stayed. We booked three nights and only stayed one and requested a refund for the other two nights. The room reeked of cigarette smoke (couldn't even smell any kind of cleaner or febreeze as a possible attempt at covering it up). The door didn't shut correctly..looks like it might have been kicked in a time or two. There was a big gap at the top to let in all the bugs. The fridge didn't work, the couch was basically just a frame as the cushions were flat and the stove/sink thing..didn't even want to attempt it in fear it would burn the place down. While the above sounds bad, the absolute worst dealbreaker for us were the beds and the shower. The beds looked sketchy at first glance but picking up the comforter was the worst mistake I've ever made. Both box springs were stained with who knows what to hell and back..urine, blood, feces, who knows? The one box spring was so crushed it wouldn't stay on the bed frame that had also been crushed. The sheets on one bed had what looked like mold stains so we didn't even bother looking at the other bed or the mattress underneath. Needless to say, I'm grateful we traveled with our own blankets and pillows because we slept on our blanket over the bed - my mom, myself and my child on one bed. The shower looked like a gaggle of diseases waiting to happen..I was probably cleaner for not showering. Mold, dirt, who knows what. Also- should you be traveling with any disabled person that requires assistance please note that this location does not have any handicapped parking spots or any handicap accommodations (no ramps, elevators, etc). Rooms are not ocean view as advertised, the just face the ocean which is blocked by the boardwalk. read more

We were ready to call the cops but the owner showed up and didn't even question giving us our money back. While arguing with the woman for 45 minutes 3 other people were overcharged!! This place is horrible my family and I stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days, where do I begin to describe this place. The rooms are dirty, old furniture they don't even have curtains in the windows we had to use our beach throw as a curtain so the kids could try to get some sleep. We originally booked it because of the location and the pool. We were right by the boardwalk which was the only good thing but even the pool sucked after we were charged for the entire stay we were told the pool could t be used until jun 22. At night was the worse the other guests were extremely loud you can here them going back and forth or running most of them drunk, my husband caught a really bad sub burn so I had to run to the pharmacy a few times I often found other guests smoking in the parking lot. I honestly felt unsafe as I would go back to our room you would have other drunk guests everywhere. read more

ZERO STARS!!! this was by far the WORST place i have ever stayed. i have stayed in some shady places before but this was barely habitable. we had 2 rooms. both were disgusting. sand and dirt everywhere. our shower had no hot water other did but both disgusting. no toilet seat in our room. that should say it all. beds were busted and you could feel the springs right through it. basically no padding left on them. pillows looked like flat tortilla shells and a tortilla woulda been softer and cleaner under my head. cops were at the place multiple times. each night 2 just stayed at the lobby. thats how bad the patrons and area were. it IS right off the boardwalk but that didnt overcome all the horrible experiences. screaming and blaring music all night each night. expect to navigate groups of people on the walkways everytime you leave and come back. drugs seem to be everywhere. i have no problem with whatever but we had 4 kids with us. not okay. staff could care less. one staff basically told us they dont clean anything. we bought our own sheets and blankets. it was a step up from sleeping under the stairwell. that mighta been cleaner. at least the rain woulda washed the ground. i cant say enough negative things. if i was a broke college kid its still too disgusting to stay here. i have been in cleaner frat basements. my sink was barely staying in the wall and was slanted down so far my stuff actually fell off it. the pool was the best part. i shoulda bought a floatie and slept in it. although multiple nights random drunk kids jumped the fence and dove in on their way home from bars. i cant believe this place passes ANY type of inspections. we spent 4 nights in this asylum. it was so disgusting and insane it became comical. not enough parking so dont plan on taking ur vehicle IF you find a spot in their lot. good luck navigating it. i wish i could post my pictures! ultimately it became a good story to tell people for years to come. but please for the love of god dont take your kids here. they all hot to witness arrests and people pissing on cars and plenty of drugs and cursing to last a lifetime. if you choose to stay god speed and make sure you're up to date on your shots. dont say i didnt warn you. :) i showered in bleach and penicillen when i got home. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE! This motel is the worst place I have ever stayed. The rooms cost $250/night and are an absolutely nightmare. The room smelled of weed due to guests on either side of us. The room was dirty and full of flies. There was a wet, dirty washcloth in the bathroom. One of the beds had a urine stain on the sheet. The "living room" area floors were dirty with shoe prints before we even stepped in. The microwave and mini fridge were dirty. You can hear every noise outside and from surrounding rooms. The guests above us were up all hours of the night- sounded like a herd of elephants. Our vehicle was hit overnight in the on-site parking lot because the spots are so small and there is barely enough room to drive between spots. We left our stay early, if that is any indication of how bad this place is. Staff was unpleasant to deal with and refused a refund on our second night. Great location, friendly staff, not a bad room for the price. If you're not a fan of partying/hearing people party all night, this motel (and Seaside Heights in general) is not the spot for you. I can't review the cable, didn't use the TV, and we didn't try to connect to the WiFi either. The room its self was decent. Two queen beds, a small bathroom, a closet, and a living room/kitchenette that included a microwave, fridge, and a stove. Being an old motel, the room had the expected random stains and dents, but it was a room, which is all I needed. Many of the reviews I had read before booking this motel said to stay away because of bed bugs. I just bought bed bug spray and sprayed the furniture, sheets, floor, etc, when I first arrived as a precaution. Oh, and don't forget, 2 beach passes are included per room! A daily beach pass is $5, so it'll save a little bit of cash. Like I said before, the staff was very friendly. Overall, I give this motel 3 stars because it fit my needs perfectly. I needed a place to sleep, close to the beach (the boardwalk is just across the street, can't get much closer), as cheap as possible. The beach passes and helpful staff were added bonuses, as I was expecting the worst. I wouldn't recommend this motel for families, people who want to go to sleep early, or for people who don't like the idea of staying in an old motel. Other than that, if you're here for the partying, don't mind hearing the entire town partying all night, or generally don't care about the room because you just want to be near the beach, book this motel. I will definitely be booking this motel next time I visit Seaside Heights. read more

Last minute trip for 2 nights. Hoping to find something for about $250 per night. Nothing available, found this for about $130 per night. Location was great. Noise wasn't bad. I couldn't tell if our room was clean or dirty because it was so run down. We went to the boardwalk and bought blankets to sleep on. The bathroom was just as bad. If you can live with that, it's a great value. I would have happily paid $100 per night more for the same room if it was maintained. read more

Me and my friends (5 of us) stayed here for 3 days fri-sun. No one called us to let us know our room was available as promised we just showed up and asked because it was after the time (3pm). When we showed up we noticed the pool which was a decent size. Upon entering the room we noticed why this motel was decently priced for seaside heights; right across the st from the boardwalk ($456.20 for the 3days). The beds seemed clean and recently changed. The bathroom was an odd and inconvenient set up when you're with other people as the sink is OUTSIDE of the toilet/shower. We had to ask for linens for the pullout couch mattress bc it was bare. The only plus side to the stay was the amazing AC and the mini fridge! We didn't complain much because obviously we weren't in the room much (it's jersey shore!!!) but we will most definitely never ever stay at this place. read more

This place is very deceiving when you go to book it. The place was filthy! We didn't even want to shower there. There was mold on the ceiling, black mold in the shower, dangerous floors with nails sticking out and floor boards popping up. Some of the outlets didn't work. The handle broke on the shower, could not turn water off and we had to get maintenance to fix it and stop water. No mirror in the bathroom, sink was falling off the wall and toilet very lose on the floor. Very noisy with other guests above us, sounded like kids just running back and forth all night. Our room wasn't cleaned when we walked in and the front desk was no help. There were clumps of hair all over the ground and brown stains on all of our towels. Don't even get me started on our neighbors. With in one night, there was a domestic dispute and a police raid in the room above us. Everyone was very rude and even threw toilet paper at my sister when she asked for some more because they don't know how to clean anything. Doors didn't lock and the "locks" on the door were broken. All in all, this place sucks and they are way over priced for what they have to offer. read more

Bathroom is teeny tiny, ceiling was ready to fall on our heads (grossed out) box springs were disgusting, dirty, stained, ripped (didnt even want to lift the sheets to look at mattress) we stayed out all day & only came to room to sleep. But we couldnt w/ the flies (killed 6 in an hour) We ended up switching rooms, where it looked just as shitty & only 1 or 2 flies (which we stayed up til we got rid of them) felt exhausted but couldnt get good sleep. Parking is super tight. Pool has so much clorine it damaged mine & my daughters hair, tiles are missing in places. Place is very poorly kept. & They dont wash the comforters. We stayed in pool after check out & watched housekeeping clean up after us & that nasty ugly comforter was never taken out to be washed, only towels & sheets... DO NOT STAY HERE!!! (Zero Stars) This was the absolute worst place I've ever seen in my life. This hotel was unfit to be lived in let alone to be considered a hotel. It was completely unsafe for my nerves and there was absolutely no way I was going to let my five year old stay there. A complete flop house. Dirty, dingy, run-down, unstable staircases to even more unstable second floor balcony walkway. The guests in the room next to us were smoking pot and their tattoos were about something more serious than "body art". I did not feel safe having my child stay in a place like this. We were charged a non-refundable $200. When I went to speak to the hotel attendant (who said she was the owner) about my concerns and wishes to be refunded so we could stay elsewhere, she proceeds to tell me that all of this was not her problem, walk away from me into another room and shuts the door behind her. I told her that if this was not her problem then I would bring it to the police. She immediately returned to try and help me when she heard me on the phone with the local police station. I was refunded and got out of there ASAP. This place should be condemned. read more

Do NOT stay here!!!!! I arrived at 11pm Friday night. The woman behind the counter was a total lunatic. She was screaming and yelling at me because I was unsure where to park.. Their "parking lot" is an alley behind the building that was nearly full with no room to maneuver my car in. She stormed out of the office yelling down the block and saying that the reason I couldn't park was because I had a big car. I have a Hyundai Sonata. Hardly a big car. I ended up paying to park in the lot next door for the entire weekend. It cost me $50. The room was DISGUSTING. One of the beds was broken and sunken in on the right side. The walls were covered in dirt.. Complete with a hole in the bathroom door that someone had clearly kicked in. We didn't shower the entire time because that's how gross the shower was. Even the curtain (what are they..$7 to replace..?) was covered in dirt and grim. The blaring music and guests screaming lasted until about 6am each night. It was an awful experience. I can't belive this was a 100 bucks for the night this dump did not have hot water. It had 3 or 4 Mexican family's living in the motel it was crazy they had music blasting all night drinking. I star only because I am forced to select something and I cannot give less. I have never in my life experienced such a terrible place. This was by far the absolute worst hotel experience I've ever had. I am not the one to normally write reviews but I could not in good conscience say nothing and allow others to get duped. The rooms were filthy. The staff never came to clean my room. I had to ask for a broom to sweep the floors myself since they did not come and clean. Here is a list of problems we encountered in just our one room: 1) There were tiles missing in the shower 2) The tiny sink was hanging by a thread on the wall 3) The shower floors were dirty... We wore flip flips to shower 4) The sheets had blood stains on them 5) The pull-out couch was too disgusting to even think of using 6) The box springs were brown and clearly should have been replaced years ago 7) The toilet was loose from the floor 8) The stove was just for show and was completely unusable 9) The stairs to the second level were loose 10) Best of all, they had men spraying soiled towels with disinfectant and soaking them in trash cans. It appeared this is how they washed their dirtiest of items. The price may be right but please listen and take the advice of these reviews. The only reason we stayed was because it was a family trip of a group of 17 of us. We all wanted to stay together. I was not expecting a Hyatt or Hilton at the shore but I would have appreciated a decent and clean location. This is NOT a decent or clean location. This place is more of a health hazard! This was the most disgusting place I have ever stayed. The 1st sign not to go into the room was that the door didn't want to open, only after 6 tries... there was a ripped open envelop that stated for tips from the housekeeper. The bed was terribly uncomfortable and hurt my back. Pillows were flat and the bed had a piece of metal sticking out from the bottom of it that my friend kept hitting her leg on. The furniture was broken and had missing handles. The bathroom was soooo gross beyond explanation. There were false eyelashes stuck to the toilet paper dispenser. There was a stained towel with Curley long black hair stuck to it. The grout in the shower was black and moldy. There was no cover to the toilet seat because it was broken off and not replaced. Our entire room smelled like pot when we got back in because our neighbors were blazing with their door open for what seemed like hours. All in all the only good thing was it was a block from the boardwalk, there was a TV and AC. I'm happy we don't have a serious disease after staying there.
