    Duck! It's a goose!

We had an absolute blast paddleboarding with Ian. Most of us had never done it, and some of our group couldn't even swim, but Ian was able to make everyone feel comfortable enough to be moving across the lake in no time at all. He has an enthusiastic yet easy-going demeanor that made the adventure perfect for our group. He took a bunch of cool photos for us too (and just sent them to us, no charge). Believe the reviews, if you think you'll like it, you'll actually love it. (future paddleboard owner)

Loved it. This was our first Stand Up Paddle-board experience. We're in our late 50's and good health, but I was a little nervous about this 'bucket list' activity making us kick the bucket! Ian, our guide, was wonderful. Positive and up-beat, he gave us the quick instruction at the start and it proved to be pitch perfect. We scheduled weeks in advance and our day just happened to be the 2nd hottest day of the year. I was so proud that I didn't fall in the lake, but in hindsight, it would've been good to get wet and stay cool (just as Ian had suggested). We plan to go again, but I will do some balance/core exercises first--just to be more confident. Highly recommend.

Came for a fun afternoon with my best friend and the tour was so much more than just paddleboarding. Ian discusses birds, the rock formations, lake, and the history of the area! Would love to go on other tours too. Highly recommend.

I signed up for the Glow SUP at Moraine State Park on 6/30/20. Ian was a great guide - he and his assistant guide were personable, and very knowledgeable about the sport and the outdoors in general! The equipment was in excellent shape. Registration and check-in were super easy. Can't wait to SUP with SurfSUP again soon!

We had a great time at Moraine St Park. Beautiful day on the water!!!

We had an awesome day with Ian at Moraine St Park today!! Been trying to SUP all summer with a other company here in town and could never get him to call me back. Ian was responsive and emailed within a few hours. Although heading into cooler weather it was a beautiful day on the lake. Went into the drink once and it was a bit more than refreshing. None the less we had a wonderful time! Can't wait for the next adventure.

Ian of SurfSup Adventures is an amazing teacher! He is supportive, knowledgeable and friendly. His Flatwater Level 1 SUP Training was presented with clarity so it was easy to understand and follow directions when learning hands-on technique on the water as well as when covering how to prepare for a tour even before showing up on site. He was well organized and prepared and yet was flexible when the weather had us "going with the flow". I felt safe while in training and am confident with with tools and knowledge shared with me to move forward in my own paddling journey.

We got the camping packet that let's you camp for 2 tonight/3 days, and includes the Tubapalooza, and other tubing options each day. There were a vast selection of campsite options. We were surprised that it wasn't packed (especially the night before Tubapalooza). Our campsite was next to the river, it couldn't have been more ideal. The location was calm and the sounds of the river and nature were soothing, even on the few times when the geese went wild. All in all, if we're still living in Pennsylvania, we plan to return next year!

Being a newbie I wasn't sure what to expect, other than I was pretty sure it was going to be awesome. The prices to rent are very affordable and definitely worth the experience. We didn't spend as much time on the river as we would have liked to, do to some upcoming reservations later in the day, but now that I have gotten a taste of it I am dead set on going back as much as I can. We started by heading up the river, but there are much more scenic views down river. Cruising down past the stadiums than over to the point to get a victorious picture of me hoisting my oar in front of the fountain. Such a wonderful way to see the city. Since we were on a tight schedule there wasn't much time for relaxing so it was basically nonstop paddling. This is a serious upper body workout. Heading back up the river was challenging at times, but still so much fun and a great workout! Can't wait to go back.

The rental rates are very reasonable, especially if you become a Venture Outdoors member. They give you a little paddle talk before you go and help you get in and out of the water. It's a lot less scary than you may think, as you wear a safety vest and tipping over is pretty rare. I recommend you get the solo boats over the tandems, they are just easier to maneuver and a lot more fun.

Motoring in my rented SUV through the gorgeous Laurel Highlands region, I had roughly an hour to drive the seven miles between the two homes right through this park. Right in the heart is a most worthwhile stop, Ohiopyle Falls, a twenty-foot waterfall that spans the wide Youghiogheny River over a couple of dramatic levels. The parking lot was huge and pretty empty, and it was a quick stroll to the broad observation decks that jut out over the river. There was a group of kayakers huddled together as they were preparing to navigate the whitewater torrents. The hamlet of Ohiopyle provides a welcome coffee break. We explained that the State Park Ranger had assigned the site upon checkin and mentioned nothing about a "No Dog Zone". They indicated that since we were checking out the next morning we would have to move. The officers were very nice however them being so heavily armed was a bit unnerving!! In Pennsylvania state parks, dogs are generally not allowed in swimming areas, inside buildings, or in designated non-pet overnight areas like cabins and group tenting areas. They are also prohibited in any area specifically designated as closed to pets. Responsible pet ownership is expected, meaning dogs must be leashed, attended, and their waste must be cleaned up!!! After a seven hour multi state slough we finally arrived at Ohiopyle State Park in PA. Site 139 was an easy back in however due to an afternoon thunderstorm there's no power to the campground upon our arrival but thankfully it came back on a short while ago! We've decided to enjoy a second day exploring the river, local sites etc. Really enjoyed our stay. While the entry roads are a bit tight the facilities were clean plus the staff was amazingly friendly. Highly recommended.

What could have been better: communication about what to bring or not to bring (yes to a way to secure your glasses, no to water bottles or a dry bag for water /snacks /sunscreen); where to park (across the bridge near the beer store or at the public park); and that the "snack" after the trip is a full meal (pulled pork, hot dogs, sides). The restroom-changing facilities are fairly primitive on site (women's side includes a single curtained toilet, single shower stall, a chair behind a screen, and an open area with a bench, a chair, and an uncovered window that overlooks the take-out site). What was great: the emphasis on safety, quality materials, communication between the team members, THE RAPIDS. My favorite one was whatever one we had just finished. I never buy the ride photos, but I did this time because we wanted to commemorate a great afternoon, and to reward the team for good work.
