We loved Coal Tubin'! They are super enthusiastic and excited about what they do and the Johnstown area. Spoke with Chad on the phone, and Sean ran our shuttle - both of them can easily convey their excitement into you, too! I look forward to checking back in the future to see how they've grown. I grew up near this area of PA, but never did these types of things growing up. Now they are making it accessible to everyone. We rented two bikes from them for a ride on the Ghost Town Trail. They worked with us on the route we wanted to take and the times we needed to go. Great location, and excellent facilities. Really a top notch organization. Don't miss this!

This was my first experience tubing and it was fun! I'd definitely do it again. When we got in, we first had to sign a waiver. The man who helped us was very nice! They also had written how high the river was running that day, which was helpful. The office also has bathrooms in it. They also have cubbies so that you can leave your things there. We were given options for the kind of tubes we could pick. They had special tubes for an extra $5. We chose the pink Cadillac ones with backing and can holders so we could hold the alcohol we got (from the local Bargain Beer &Pop). We got a very quick safety talk and then took a bus to the river, picked up our tubes and were off! The river was ok...not particularly beautiful but maybe all tubing is like that. The pickup process was a bit confusing. After getting off the river, we waited a bit outside without realizing we had to walk all the way down to the road to get on the pickup bus. There wasn't a sign for a bus or anything, so this was a bit confusing. Overall, good experience. Not 5 stars because there are definitely improvements that can be made.

Both the PFDs and the shuttle vans could use some updating, however. The canoe itself was fine, as were the oars. The river route was very peaceful, with the exception of some choppy water occasionally, with some rocks we had to maneuver around. We did get stuck in a shallow section, but that was on us for not realizing how shallow it was. The take-out was fine, if a little muddy. Overall a good experience.

What if one in your group dips out of the plans. Then you have either paid for person and you're out that money or you have an extra ticket that you may or may not use. Accept a deposit at the time of reservation but the whole thing is a little ridiculous. Pre-covid, they passed out flyers on the shuttle out to the river. If you returned the flyer when you returned, you'd get a free scoop of ice cream. Our family used to love that. We'd still buy more ice cream but after paddling all afternoon, we'd love to sit and relax with our ice cream before loading everything back up and talk about the neat stuff that we seen. This by no means is their fault. I just hope they keep it in mind and bring it back in some way. I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons. The shuttle that we rode in sounded and felt like it could use some maintenance and because the 2 rental kayaks we rented for our kids-both had tons of pieces of styrofoam, pieces of tree, and spiders in them. You don't have to spray them out after every use but least spray out the kayaks before using them each season.

Thats how 7 friends and I felt when we were planning our weekend trip to Berkeley Springs (well, maybe we weren't that dramatic). I can't speak for all of the properties, but SLEEPY RIDGE HIDEAWAY was a dream come true! A small full kitchen with bedrooms to sleep 8 people and two bathrooms. Inside we had a wood burning stove which was great on a cool rainy evening. Outside there was a screened in porch and a back deck. There was a fire pit where which we made use of regularly! A game room with air hockey and shuffleboard. But the best part....a hot tub!!! And yes we fit 8 people in there! This cabin also had a nice trail down a hill to the creek below which was very serene and was a 10 minute drive to good hiking trails. If you need to get away...check out berkely springs and all the cabins they have to offer....ours was about $45 per person for the weekend!

I got tired of asking. wifi is useless but i never use it. This place used to be very special to us until one of the co-owners didn't show respect for an issue. We stayed there 2-3 times a year. All over an overcharge they refused to do a compliment refund or anything. We even agreed to a portion of it. Still nothing. So what could've been fixed with less than $10 will now cost them $4-5k because our friends were going to reserve a whole portion of a section for a wedding in the fall. Plus use the resort and pay for the reception area and food. maybe you should listen to your customers after all and stop raising prices

Technically located in Somerset County in what is Conemaugh Township you will come across this little haven. While driving along 403 you may not notice that this place even exists, especially in the spring/summer months as a majority of it is blocked by the ample foliage. If you do happen to catch a glimpse of this as you drive by you might be able to get a general idea of what this place can and has been used for. But I suggest taking your time to stop in here and enjoy what there is to offer here. One thing that you will notice is that there a pavilions that are sporadically spaced out through the grounds. These can be rented for parties, get-togethers, special events, etc. Most of these have an accompanying fire pit to use at your disposal. Rates for these can be found on the township website. Also available is a playground area where smaller children can get their exercise. The playground area is more of a chutes and ladders type of area as there are no swings or things of that like. What is a huge draw here is the fact that when they decided to spruce up this space they decided to construct rapids in Stonycreek River. Definite draw for kayakers and the like. It's a beautiful setting with these formations they made, many family/prom/graduation pictures have been taken of people standing on one of the rocks. This park also hosts many events throughout the year whether it be for a local boy scout troop, family fun day or Thunder in the Valley (which you have to 21+ to even step foot on grounds for). It's a great place just to walk as well. *Sand volleyball court available, changing areas if you choose to play in the rapids, bathrooms on ground. ******No pets, so don't bring your four-legged friend. You will be fined if you do so.******
