Customer service was horrible. They said that the care and cost was shown to me yet I never saw the screen it was on it was behind me. Yes I signed agreeing to have the work done but thought it was covered under my insurance! Not! Then after complaining not a sorry or let me see what we can do. Nope just I was a liar. The hygienist made it sound like it was necessary yet it wasn't. And I've seen a dentist every 6 months for my entire adult life and not one dentist ever said I needed to have this treatment and continue to have it? Then my wife had a cleaning which they were late for and her person said three things, sign here, open up and what are you doing after! And never discussed how her teeth are after having that necessary laser treatment done last visit and what she needed to do next! read more

This office is horrible. They just want your money. They make you think so they care and that. It's all not true. They told me oh you need three root canal's because this scan shows shadowing. Keep in mind I only need a partial one due to a chipped filling. They want to refer me to a specialist for the other two because of said shadowing. Then they want me to have a deep cleaning. I stay on top of my cleanings. There is absolutely no reason I need a deep cleaning other then for them to pad their pockets. Avoid this place at all costs. Plus they talk to you like you are dumb. People avoid going to the dentist for a number of reasons, but among the top are fear of pain and fear of cost. Buckle up, because when I went here, I got both, and I didn't even see the dentist! My appointment was at the end of July. I liked that I was able to book online. That's where my positive experience here ends. When I arrived for my appointment, I was met with a 20-minute wait just to have the activities commence. I have not been to the dentist in a few years due to the pandemic and relocating to Arizona. When I was finally called back, I had a series of x-rays done while the tech's computer experienced an array of issues that delayed the process. I saw my quick lunch break dental appointment plans dissipate as the clock moved forward. After another wait, I was introduced to someone who I believe was a hygienist that did charting of my teeth. This was painful as each and every gum was poked. I was told that I have severe dental disease. I have never been told that before. Granted, it's been a few years since I was at the dentist, but to go from a five-star review to a one-star, so to speak, was pretty jarring. From there, the x-ray tech and the hygienist promised an estimate and left. I then waited about 30 minutes while listening to another patient ramble anxiously to a provider. As the experience approached two hours and I had yet to see a dentist or the supposed estimate in any way, shape, or form, I decided enough was enough. I took off the bib and plastic sunglasses and went to the front desk. I told the receptionist that I was going to leave, but asked for that estimate just for fun. The dentist then suddenly appeared, apologetically, telling me that she was in a complicated procedure. I'm sure, as I heard the whole exchange through paper thin walls. I received not just a multi-thousand dollar estimate but a treatment plan, an offer to reschedule (declined), and limp apologies on my way out. What confused me the most was that the hygienist herself formulated the treatment plan. I never saw the dentist. It seems like the providers are stretched thin and the hygienists are doing some degree of their work. Personally, that makes me uncomfortable. I obviously won't be back. Now I'm left with an insurance claim to dispute for a dental exam that I didn't receive and the task of once again finding a new dentist. I'm sure I can find somewhere better. Festival Dental Group set the bar very low, so it shouldn't be too hard. read more

Been coming to Festival Dental for over a year now and love the treatments I have received. I came to Festival Dental when my previous dentist tried to refer me out to a periodontist for a deep cleaning. I knew this wasn't necessary as I have been receiving deep cleanings every 3 months for years. Festival Dental is a one-shop stop with advanced equipment for the most effective treatment. Dr. Thomas is skilled, knowledgeable, and professional yet incredibly kind and thoughtful. The filling she replaced on my front tooth looks natural and has been solid. My hygentist, Mari-Lyn, has been instrumental with improving my oral health especially the gums. She has been the only hygentist I've came across that has recommended and provided laser gum treatment and specific treatment to the peridontal pockets. My gums have improved so much over the past year that I have the option of going every 6 months instead of quarterly. I brought my daughter here after a horrendous experience at another dentist. The staff here is friendly and welcoming from the moment you walk in. They reviewed the botched job from the previous dentist, walked us through all our options, helped us develop a clear plan, were transparent with the pricing, and treated my daughter with respect. My daughter said they were gentle, explained each step, and genuinely seemed to care about her. They were able to fix in one day, what the other dentist couldn't do in five appointments. The Office staff is very inconsiderate. Wait times are ridiculous! They won't schedule more than two family members at a time. So, you haft to make multiple trips. The wait times just to be seen are about an hour. So, plan on spending the day. Very unhappy!! We had my son's wisdom teeth removed and we waited 2 hours before being seen. Once he was finished we got him in the car and we had to go back in because they didn't give him any extra gauze or the prescription for pain Meds. We had to wait approx 20 min. Wouldn't that be something you would have together? No apologies just act like it's no big deal... The Dr's are great which makes it hard to leave. However, once I find a new great Dentist... bye! read more

This place is awesome, I hadn't been to the dentist office in over 3 years. Nicole did a great job with the X-rays and assisting Sara do my first ever filling on a cavity. They both explained how the process works and did an awesome job. Now it has been three years so the dental hygienist Steve had to do some extra deep cleaning to get me back on track and it was a breeze! All in all they did awesome and I will be back on track with my teeth cleaning from now on because I will be coming here! read more

My wife and I have been pleased with the service in the past, I would rate the service a 4-star; 1-star deducted for the often missed scheduled appointment times with a large margin. The way COVID19 safety measures were enforced has made us change our mind about a 4-star rating. I pointed out through email around the end of May '20 that the waiting room did not allow for social distancing and that assistants were not always wearing masks or left masks hanging below their nose. My email remained without reply. However, this situation was corrected at my last visit on 7/23. Chairs were removed for social distancing and everyone (staff & customers) were wearing masks. Thank you for valuing your staff's and your customer's health! This is the best thing we can do collectively in fighting this pandemic. Abusive staff! The dental hygienist, Steven, refused to talk to me during the cleaning session because I wasn't buying his high pressure sales pitch to buy an expensive procedure. Then he turned in a false claim to my insurance company. The dentist in the office had told me that my teeth were in good condition, as had all of my previous dentists. The front desk called me at home telling me off. I feel sorry for the people walking into this office, I noticed other clients receiving rude treatment at the reception desk. The very first appointment I went in and the Dentist told me I needed to have a large amount of work done right away. I just opted for the cleaning. This was when the office first opened up so I figured they needed to raise lots of money to pay for the equipment. On a future visit my new Dentist was much more conservative on the amount of work that needed to get done. I did have a broken tooth that they fixed in 1 day so 5 stars for having a machine in the office that can make a fake tooth and get installed all in one visit. The office is fully loaded with all the state of the art equipment. On one of my next visits I show up only to be told that my appointment had been rescheduled. I was like "Thanks for calling to let me know." Then they were supposed to call me if someone didn't show up. Apparently they had no no-shows for like a month solid. Where can I get a loyal customer base like that. I had been to a couple other dentists here in Surprise and they are the reason I keep going back to Festival. My most recent appoint went like this: I called to schedule an appointment and they had a 7:30am appointment. That was fantastic because I work at 9am and could go get my teeth cleaned before work and not have to take any time off. Well I show up at 7:10 and am told the dentist doesn't come in till 8am. I was like, "So, just have the hygienist do the cleaning then the Dr. can look at my teeth." They wouldn't allow that, so I left to go to work. So I will be giving this outfit one more chance next week. Lets hope they don't screw it up. But if they do I already got a personal referral for another Dentist in the area. read more

Dentist was condescending,rude and rushed as was his assistant. I have been told the assistant no longer works there. I was surprised to get a call from the new manager concerned over my negative experience on previous visit. I was impressed that he cared and was trying to rectify the situation with both the staff and me.He seems to care about patients and the care they receive. Hopefully they will follow his lead and others will have only positive experiences at their appointments. I will never go back!!! read more

I've been a patient here since 2008. I haven't had a single bad experience with any of the hygienists or Dr. Mallory. I've had excellent care, including several Cerec crowns to replace older amalgam fillings that were breaking down. My treatment plans are always explained satisfactorily and I've never felt like unnecessary work was being tacked on. While major dental work is rarely a fun activity, I've appreciated that pain control is taken seriously here. My previous dentist was the "You can feel that? Oh, just hold on, I'm almost done," type, so prior to coming to Festival Dental, I believed that some level of pain was just part of any dental work. I can honestly say that I've never had any major pain during any procedure here. If I'm feeling discomfort, I'm given another injection, no questions asked. I won't go anywhere else for a filling or crown as long as Dr. Mallory is at this location. I do agree that there were some significant front office staff issues and had some ridiculous billing mistakes a few years back (like sending my husband's bill to my insurance carrier, then billing me when the claim was denied), but I haven't had any problems since then. I believe those problems were largely due to the staff at the time and thankfully, none of those people still work there. The new office manager is a welcome change and he seems genuinely happy to be there. He remembered me from my call to schedule earlier that week and was competent and efficient. I've never had any difficulty scheduling appointments and appreciate the later office hours on Tuesdays. I've not had excessive wait times either in the reception area or while in the exam rooms. I don't bring my daughter to this office because it doesn't feel as kid-friendly as the other dentist in Surprise that my family uses. The office could use some updating and a fresh coat of paint back in the exam rooms. read more

I believe I was taken advantage of, I came in for an initial visit, and after getting dental care for sixty years, I assumed I would get ex-rays a exam and a cleaning. After the first two I was presented with a quote for over a $1,000 for some sort of deep cleaning. I should have walked out at this point, I was already in the chair so I agreed. I asked if this is what it will always cost and I was told no it would only be $88, when I said that according to my insurance plan that my routine visit and cleanings are at no cost to me Steven the Hygienist said that is the difference between periodontal care and orthogonal and that's how insurance sucks you in. The only people that sucked me in was Festival Dental. I won't be returning and this review will be going out on every site I can find. read more

I went here since they were a dentist in my network and that would be the cheapest way to go to get my wisdom teeth pulled proactively. And boy were they the cheapest, which was very pleasing. The oral surgeon I saw, Dr. James Davies, was amazing. He recognized my fear and reassured me, thoroughly explained the procedure and the risks I had and coached me through getting the IV (hate needles). He even called me personally to check up on me after I left post-surgery. I had pain that lasted awhile, so I needed to go into the office a few times, but they worked me in right away despite a busy office and didn't put it off for a few days. The billing rep is great too, fully explaining my EOB to me and the charges when I came in to ask. They are so friendly and caring and will do anything the patient needs. I would recommend this office to anyone! read more

Just an FYI (festival dental group, litchfield and bell) My mother went for her regular cleaning and was told she needed a deep cleaning done for over $900. Mind you, she gets her teeth cleaned twice a year. Without insurance it would of been $2700!! She asked if she could take home the paperwork and discuss it with her husband and they said NO, it needs to be done now. They refused to do her normal cleaning that day. I went in for their $39 special. It became quite clear that they had no intention of giving me the teeth cleaning unless I also signed up for a very expensive and painful deep cleaning. Before I moved to this area I saw my regular dentist 6 months ago and he said I had no parodontal disease. This place said that my gums were in terrible shape and that I needed immediate deep cleaning with laser treatments. When I asked for my regular cleaning that was part of the deal they continually brushed me off to talk more about signing me up for this deep cleaning. You have been warned. read more

Dr. Schmidt was warm and comforting given that not many people (including myself) enjoy having to have dental work. The office and procedure rooms were clean and efficient. Jennifer Thomas has been our family dentist for over 10 years. I have paid for braces for both my older sons and large amounts of money on crowns, tooth replacements, etc. It has been expensive and I had no problem paying until the last year. They replaced a wonderful lady named Rebecca with this awful creature of a woman Karen. I have had many issues and confrontations with Karen over billing errors and just a poor attitude. The office makes mistakes in billings and Karen does a lot of miscellaneous billings to the insurance company. Those are double billings that the insurance company will not pay and the client ends up paying. The Dentist Jennifer knows that this lady is argumentative and the rest of her office is becoming just as unprofessional. Unfortunately, I am moving my full family of 6 to another dentist. Dr Thomas is wonderful! I've been coming for several years but today she went above and beyond! I had an emergency and a crown on my front tooth broke. She was booked and i called multiple places and all said they couldn't help me. I called her back and she squeezed me in. She reassured me immediately and was able to give me a temporary fix while we work on a solution. Her staff is amazing from xrays to reception, i love them all! I have been going to this dentist office for several years. I have grown with them through a few different dentists. And have never had any real issues. Until recently.  I had a crown put in and I was astonished at the price. I even tried to schedule the procedures for multiple teeth over more than one visit because it was so expensive. But they told me it wouldn't make much difference because all the expense was for one tooth. Although I was dismayed, I went ahead with the procedure because it needed to be done. When my insurance claim came back, they only covered a fraction of the cost. When I called the office about the refund of the difference, they said there wouldn't be one because I "chose" an upgrade. I never "chose" an upgrade  when I signed the computer screen they rushed me through.  I complained a lot about the price. But I never was informed I had an option to purchase a cheaper crown. A crown that was half the price of the "uncovered upgrade" that I "willingly chose" according to the smug gentleman on the phone in the front office that was completely unwilling to work with me.  When I asked to speak with someone else he told me I could absolutely speak with someone else but that person would just tell me the same thing.  He actually sounded proud of himself that he got to tell me that he was keeping my money! As a rational adult, I would think that if I had a complaint about the price, the cheaper price should have been at least pointed out. Kind of like he said he did. But then again,  he did tell me it was my word against his. So I guess we'll never really know, will we? I will be cancelling all the appointments for my entire family and never going back to this office.  They are obviously only interested in duping people into paying for the most expensive procedures available. They have no concern for the best interest of their customers which may not always be the most expensive option, but making sure their patient's dental health is taken care of before the company's wallet is padded. read more

I take back what I said about Dr. Mallory being skilled despite his horrible chairside manner. I went to my new dentist (who I love, by the way) and when they took x-rays, they discovered that when putting in my crown, he managed to wedge a huge piece of cement into my gum. Before I left my appointment, his assistant had mentioned that was a lot of cement to clean up and that I should floss that night. This piece of cement was too far to be reached by dental floss and I nearly needed the crown removed (or gum surgery) to get it out. As it was, it took my dentist several attempts and multiple tools to remove it (I was numb, thankfully). I am very unhappy. PATIENTS BEWARE! read more

I made an appointment almost 2 weeks ago for my first initial exam this fri. The receptionist told me she would email me the health history forms,(i figured, great, this should move apt along faster as I have to work right after) but after calling and leaving a message that I never recieved the form via email, I decided to go in. They had told me the first visit is about 1.5 hrs so I wanted to shave off as much time as possible. When I walked in I did not get a good vibe. There were about 4-5 receptionist at the desk, NONE of them smiled, NONE, in fact they looked downright mad, that they had yet another customer to 'deal with'. I tried to make light and said something like, ''don't look so dissapointed''. I told the receptionist that I was there to drop off exrays(from my previous dentist) and fill out the medical history form. She told me to sign in and somebody would get to me. I waited 10 minutes and just decided to leave. I will be cancelling my appointment and go with the dentist my friend rec'd to me in the first place. Even after reading such terrible reviews about this place, i tried to give them the benefit of the doubt since they were close and I liked their website format. If I don't feel welcome and taken care of at the front, I doubt I will feel that way in the dentist chair. This is not an affront to the Dentists, but your receptionist team is a reflection of your team!!! read more

I had an abscessed tooth and needed a specialist to take it out. Dr. Davies was the dentist, and it was the worst experience that I have had. They didn't use a dental dam so all the the tooth fragments flew all over in my mouth and down my throat, then the dental assistant didn't use the suction to keep the blood from going down my throat, and when the Dr. noticed the problem they stuffed gauze down my throat to stop the blood from going down my throat, UGH!! Made me gag!!! Now, I have so much pain that I will be finding another dental practice and spending more money. read more

While the staff is friendly, I am constantly waiting upwards of half an hour just to get into a chair, then another 20 minutes just to be seen by a technician, and then of course you have to wait at least 10 for the actual doctor. That part has always been normal no matter what Dentist I go to so that doesn't bother me so much, but still having to wait almost an hour just to be seen is a bit ridiculous. They are kind, but my only real complaint is that whenever I call to when I do all of my business calls. Everytime I call them I get the after hours phone that says office hours are until 5. If office hours are until 5 then why has everyone left at 4:30. That in, my mind, is extremely unprofessional. I have even tried calling on Tuesdays at 6 when they are open much later (until 7) and still I get no response. read more
