My wife and I both have been patients of Dr Wellman at Canyon Springs Dental in Surprise AZ since 2016. Today's Semi-annual Cleanings for my wife and me were scheduled since January 2026. Appointment time for both of us was 8:40AM. We arrived at 8:30. My wife was called back, right on time, by her Hygienist at 8:40. At 9:10 my Hygienist, Vicky, was finally finishing with the patient before me. This was 30 minutes late for my appointment. I cancelled at that time due to a very important follow-on medical appointment that I could not miss. The front office staff was very apologetic and understanding. They attempted several times to reschedule me. Thank you! However, neither my Hygienist, Vicky, nor Dr Wellman made an attempt to apologize to me. I expected more from Dr Wellman as the leader of his staff and Dentist in charge. read more

I recently moved to the area and Dr. Wellman was highly recommended. I agree with others who say this is the best dental practice they've ever been to, and I've been going to the dentist for over 60 years. Everyone here is so friendly and efficient. They do not accept a lot of insurances unfortunately. You loose customers that once your a patient and feel like you were cared for you can refer your coworkers your friends and family here. Absolutely the worst experience at any dentist office I have ever had. They sat me down, looked in mouth and then took and xray.. told me I was all set but needed my blood pressure taken. My blood pressure was to high and so I was advised they could not treat me.. to my surprise I received a bill for $47.. granted its not a large amount, but neither the less you didn't even touch or fix my tooth.. so if your protocol is that you can not help someone with high blood pressure then that should be step 1.. not this sneaky billing on looking at my mouth first just so you can bill someone still and say you looked at it.. unreal... need I remind you that you turned me down and did not touch my tooth. So I'm writing this post to help others when it comes to choosing a dentist because clearly this one is just about hiw much money they can squeeze out of each person who steps foot in their establishment. I highly recommend seeking a different dentist to use as there are some really good ones in Surprise AZ. read more

Omg New Favorite Dentist ever! Jeff is a very talented and kind Dental professional. I made an appointment to have a fibroma laser removed. The scheduling and front Desk women were on top of their game! THANKS LADIES. I was a bit nervous But Dr. Wellman was phenomenal! He started with a gel that numbed the area and then went ahead for a local anesthetic that was injected. When it came time for the laser I didn't feel a thing. Throughout the procedure Dr. Wellman checked in to make sure that I was doing OK. The office itself is beautiful! I felt like I was back in Scottsdale. The building front was adorned by beautiful stone and the waiting room has a Tuscan feel. read more

Recently, changed dentist to Dr. Wellman at Canyon Springs Dental and submitted all info. requested including insurance coverage. I was told we were all set but that wasn't the case. Just called for an appointment and was told the practice no longer accepts the insurance I originally submitted. Ask if all patients using my widely known insurance carrier had to find another dentist and was told existing customers were grandfathered-in but apparently, even after being accepted and entered into their system, I was not considered an existing customer. Very disappointing and I would think, a person on file in their system would be afforded the same treatment regardless if they were a new customer or not. read more

I was way overdue in changing dentists but am so glad I did, and chose Canyon Springs! I had my first visit this afternoon and it was a very pleasant experience! That is saying a lot coming from a person who dreads having dental work done! I have very sensitive teeth and they did everything possible to make my cleaning as pleasant experience as possible! Both hygienists Jen and (sorry can't recall the others name) were very friendly, gentle and efficient! Dr. Wellman is very kind and personable! I go back in a couple of weeks for replacement of some old fillings and am hopeful he will be gentle too! The front desk lady was also great! From the staff to the atmosphere Canyon Springs is A+! This is the absolute best dental office I've ever been to. The front staff is always friendly and patient when I call or am at the office. The dental hygienist is always gentle and takes her time to make sure I'm comfortable and doing okay. When I have work that needs to be done Dr. Wellman takes the time to explain everything and never seems to be in a hurry while doing the work. Dr. Wellman and the Canyon Springs staff are amazing! They were a referral from their neighbor, Bailey Orthodontics, and I couldn't be happier. I've been going to Canyon Springs for a few years now and everyone is always in a good mood, very nice, patient and always a pleasure to see and visit with when I come in.Dr. Wellman has replaced old fillings, filled cavities and even repaired a bad root canal that I got at another dentists prior to going to Canyon Springs (he did an implant as well -- all while I was in braces!). My Wife suddenly one Saturday morning started to get a tooth ache. By Sunday the pain was full throttle and her face was swollen, her neck turning red and she looked like Marlon Brando in the Godfather, no foolin. Being Sunday, (of course these things only seem to happen at the most inconvenient times) we sought out a Dentist not having one. The good Lord was guiding us all the way to Canyon Springs Dental. We called them and was received very warmly. My Wife was seen that same day as they worked her in. Dr. Wellman saw her and started treatment and in no time at all she was on the road to recovery. After researching online reviews and neighborhood recommendations I made an appointment with Dr. Wellman. I have found my dentist!! The office is clean and comfortable. The ladies at the front desk are in the right jobs, they are wonderful and never make you feel like you are taking up their time. They are informative and very helpful answering questions,whether about pricing or insurance. I had my teeth cleaned and after x-rays were taken we found I had a cracked tooth that would need a crown. Dr. Wellman's staff was so kind, everyone from the dental hygienist to the young lady that helped Dr. Wellman with the crown. When I had a problem with my insurance, the ladies up front took care of the problem. I brought my elderly mom in for a decayed tooth and cleaning. The dentist worked with my mom and filled the cavity as well as doing a very thorough cleaning himself. It is challenging to do work on my mom as she has dementia and is less than cooperative. He was very patient and even comped the cleaning. Great dentist, great guy. Highly recommend. read more

I have moved from Kansas and was needing to find a local dentist. When I called to make a appointment they got me in right away! I went in today for my regular schedule cleaning. I couldn't find the office and whenever I called they answered right away and stayed on the phone till I found it (which is good cause I would of passed it) The 2 ladies at the front desk were very friendly. I was confused on my insurance and they called and got it all figured out for me. The lady that did my X-rays and cleaning was also very friendly and in a good mood. Explaining everything she was doing and very gentle. Once the dentist came in he was also very friendly. Unfortunately I have some cavities, the dentist showed me the X-ray of the cavities and answered any questions I had. When I was making my appointment to get the fillings taken care of I was able to get in right away. I think I definitely found my new dentist! read more
