The organic food shop, which has a very deep selection, especially if you look for a special marmalade. In a white wooden hut you will find a book shop which has a wide selection of manly art, design, architecture and fashion. Here and then I find an interesting book - there is nothing as good as flicking through newly printed books. This place is ideal to just love and live on a Sunday afternoon. If there is one place I recommend to visit in summer in Chelsea it is this one. I suggest you go there with a group of friends and just chill out. Expect to wait in a queue, listening to stories of his grandchildren. Upon exploration, the other shops in here are also great. I found a rare bound copy of The Book of Tea in the bookshop. I have been looking for one for years, randomly asking places. This is definitely the sign of a good bookshop. The organic / wholefoods shop is also good, as is the tobacconists and, although all I had was a takeaway sandwich from the restaurant, its was yummy. I like and miss Chelsea Farmer's Market, despite the severe lack of real farmers.

There's also way more space to sit than any of those markets, and even if you can't find a spot in the market place you are seconds away from the riverfront which is also all re-done and fancy. Also remember you are close by the Coronation Stone, upon which 7 kings were crowned in the 900s! Yeah...I love Kingston. And I know a disturbing amount of obscure historical facts about it.

The market area is mostly covered by tall ceiling structures, giving a small reprieve if it's raining, but it has an open air feel. What's funny about this market is that you can find local options or favorites from back home. There's a shake shack right in the center of the market, but you can find smaller craft eateries spread around. There are also different places to get a cup of hot mulled wine or hot chocolate and you'll find the long lines for Ben's cookies nearby! If you are coming to Covent Garden via the tube, know that this tube station is a wreck! It's incredibly busy and unless you want to walk up an endless flight of stairs, you'll need to wait and pack in like sardines into the elevator.

They only accept cash so bring plenty or face a ~£2 surcharge at the only near by cash machine in Londis. After eating be sure to wonder around the vast gardens of Alexandra palace and grab a cake at the garden centre nearby. This is my favourite nearby place to bring my dog for walks.

Well, it turns out it was worth it. This place is dedicated to local Farmers who are growing and raising the produce themselves. After reading 'The Omnivore's Dilemma' by Michael Pollan earlier this year (I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know how the food gets on your table) I have developed a keen interest in buying my food in this way, and it appears so have a lot of other people as these kind of farmer's markets are increasing substantially in popularity. This market is held weekly in the grounds of a local school and has a very good choice of organic vegetables & fish as well as free range meat (chicken, beef, lamb, pork, sausages, bacon). You can also find buffalo mozzarella, fruit juices, cold cuts and yoghurt. The stall holders are very keen to explain how it may have been grown, reared and caught and although it's a little more expensive than your local supermarket the pay-off is taste, quality and ultimately your health.
