However the entire time she kept asking if I had seen a PCP (I had) and kept saying my symptoms were gastroenterology related and not related to the reproductive system. When i told her about sharp pain in the pelvic area that comes and goes she said that it was nerve/muscle pain even though even mayo clinic says cysts cud also cause sharp instead of dull pain? She says dull pain wud be it instead. She also asked me about the area of the pain and I told her and she said it was too high but also..like how am I supposed to remember exactly?? Anyway luckily we at least did an ultrasound (altho she said its more so I don't have anxiety about this ) and we found a lot of liquid around that area which she says wud prob be rom a ruptured cyst. So I'm like well ok good thing u checked then?? And it wasn't gastro related like u kept implying that I shudnt have come here?? Don't understand why since im already there j rule out the just in cases without the dismissive parts... like I'm already here smh. Also office staff doesn't have a good system, there's nowhere to look at your patient notes and they literally ask to email your lab results to you or to call and it doesn't seem like there's anywhere to even look at your visit summaries or anything...

Personally, I don't know the doctor, but I saw really good reviews for her and her team. Thinking that they would all be professional and provide an excellent diagnosis and service, I scheduled an appointment with her by calling Sutter Health's patient care line back in June this year for a UTI/Vaginal discomfort diagnosis. I got very frustrated when they cancelled my appointment today (10/4) for the one I had on (10/6) without even asking for my confirmation. They called me around 11:30 am while I was still in an office meeting, and even before I could hear the voicemail and respond, I got a message on the Sutter Health app saying that my appointment had been cancelled. My husband and I kept calling the Los Altos office from noon to 3 pm to find out why and how they could proceed without my confirmation. We just kept hearing that the manager was still in her "lunch". Only after speaking with patient relations was I able to connect with the relevant person. The staff member (Betty) who spoke informed me that they had the right to cancel my appointment without my consent, and I should be aware of all the conditions related to OB/GYN that Dr. Shin would diagnose. We found these comments to be unprofessional and rude, lacking empathy for me. Additionally, in the reason for cancellation, they mentioned that since I have already established my patient care at another facility within Sutter Health, I should go there instead. This seemed absurd, as I had already scheduled an appointment with the Los Altos center earlier in June. How can a patient be expected to be aware of all this information? Isn't this the duty of a patient relations manager? In the end, the staff sounded a little rude and even said, "I know you have a patient relation number, and if you want to proceed with the grievance, go ahead." This kind of attitude in health care is unacceptable, and it is not fair to cancel a critical appointment without a patient's consent. My right as a patient to reasonable continuity of care, advance notice of appointments, and participation in care decisions was violated. I request that the Sutter Health Patient Care Team investigate this matter so that, in the future, no one can end up in a similar situation.

She always has my best interests at heart. I can always message her with questions and get a timely response. Since I'm getting older, she recommended I get my hormone levels checked, which I thought was a great idea. I've noticed changes in the past year and I'm not sure if it's due to peri menopause. The hormone levels will help determine if what I am experiencing is truly peri menopause. Dr. Aung is an excellent gynecologist and I trust her. She has excellent bedside manners and is so kind and empathetic. She includes me in the decision making and listens to my concerns. I appreciate that she is thorough with her assessments and makes me feel comfortable and at ease during my exams. I love the new office location at the Sutter Health Palo Alto Medical location on Samaritan Drive. I can get my lab work done there as well as imaging and even vaccinations. When I showed up (with my husband), I was seen only by the PA (not the doctor) and she was not experienced and unhelpful. She couldn't answer my questions and repeatedly kept saying "I'm not sure, I'll have to check/research." The entire appointment felt like a waste of time. This is unacceptable and it feels dishonest. I was misled, got no helpful information, and walked away with none of my concerns addressed. They tried everything from induction to breaking my water. But my baby was just too comfortable to come out. Mind you, I was going for all natural so I wasn't given any type of epidural anesthesia for the first 3 days. Until day 4, they wanted to try the maximum amount of induction medication and worried that I wouldn't be able to handle it, so I was then given epidural. One of the doctors broke my water on day 3 evening, hoping it would trigger the baby to go down more, but unfortunately didn't do much. Dr. Anderson came and greeted me on day 4; I told her that I recognized her because I was trying to get her to be my pregnancy OBGYN. She was the most caring doctor throughout the 4 days I was there. She came check on me as she promised every hour. She came in to let me know that she was performing a C-section for another mom so it would take longer for her to come back to see me. Then, she came right after she was done. In the evening of day 4, she recommended C-section because it was almost 24hr since my water broke, and the baby might be too big to come down any further any time soon. I asked if she can perform the C-section for me - although she was time for her to go home, she said yes and promised to be there for me. I agreed with the C-section and they started to get the surgery room ready. Dr. Anderson talked and explained every step throughout the surgery. My baby came out perfect and she was weighing at 9lbs. Perhaps that's why she wasn't going down. Again, how I till this day, wish I saw Dr. Anderson from day one of my pregnancy or my labor. I really think that my experience would be a lot better than it was. I recommend Dr. Anderson for all the moms out there.

I also called the clinic office and they could not provide me any details. I would not recommend this office due to their billing practices and lack of transparency. Edit: I was told I was billed for a "service" that required a copay by my insurance. The "service" was a quick question that took a couple minutes to answer/explain. I understand medical billing is complex, but I felt deceived that asking a doctor a question related to my visit resulted in additional copayment without my knowledge or consent, and I was only informed 8-9 months later. It is unfortunate and saddening that the medical system has created a system where patients can be taken advantage of where asking a doctor questions during an appointment can result in unexpected costs.
