As I was being prepped for abdominoplasty and breast augmentation surgery, lying on the hospital bed with an IV in my arm, Dr. Pike arrived and announced that she would not operate. The hernia doctor, who was finishing her preparations, was confused, but Dr. Pike provided no explanation. Shocked and upset, I immediately broke down crying. I booked a follow up appointment a week later, during which Dr. Pike told me she had chosen to cancel my surgery at the last minute because my life was not in order and my (documentably treated and stable) depression was not sufficiently stabilized. This not being her field of expertise, I suggested she contact my psychiatrist, but she declined. Dr. Pike's bedside manner was atrocious. She was rude, abrupt, disparaging, and in my opinion, wholly unprofessional. As many other reviewers have pointed out, her behavior toward patients is alarming, to say the least. Their experiences of being discriminated against remind me of my own. Fortunately I found an excellent surgeon in Temple to perform the surgery, Dr. Samuel Lance, whom I highly recommend. I would suggest never using Dr. Pike due to her discriminatory lack of professionalism and compassion for her patients. read more

I had a breast reduction with Dr Pike in January of this year (2024). My goal was to do it before I turned 40 and I did! It is now Sept 2024 and I can confidently say: Best decision I ever made. Dr. Pike was thorough and efficient, and I'm pleased with my results. I really only saw her for the initial consult and on the day of surgery. The rest of my post op appts I was seen by the nurse practitioner, who is so sweet. All of the women working in her office at Baylor Scott and White were amazing! Very competent, very cordial, remembered me, etc. Overall it was a really positive experience and my recovery was much easier than I had anticipated! I went to this place for a recommended breast reduction. 4 of my providers think it would benefit my overall spine. I have 3 failed back surgeries, neck issues and rotator cuff! This doctor walked in and took a seat and said " I can't see you ". She didn't take my vitals, do an assessment on my body/breast, look at my medical records, take a look at documents and recommendation letters from my other providers that I bought in my folder or ANYTHING!! I can't believe her lack of personality or patient care. Why be willing to see patients if you're not even going to do a proper assessment and consultation! It seems as if she's all about cosmetic procedures. DO NOT go to this doctor. She lacks the ability to provide ANY quality of care and I feel discriminated against. I feel so disappointed and frustrated. First I waited over 3 months for the appointment and I drove over an hour and 15 minutes and I wasted my time and effort. Dr. Pike was recommended to me by my GP when I started inquiring about having a breast reduction done (June 2020). I was a little apprehensive after seeing some bad reviews on her, but went ahead and used her as my surgeon. She and her staff were fantastic. I never had any bad interactions with anyone in the office, everyone was kind and made sure I understood everything I needed to know before and after surgery. They worked with my schedule because I had to travel into town for my appointments. Had the surgery December 2020 (23 years old), and healed quickly with no complications. I went to Dr. Pike for breast augmentation and an abdominalplasty. From my very first appointment I felt comfortable and very sure of my decision. Dr. Pike always answered all my questions even if I thought they were silly. On surgery day, she explained everything in detail. I am extremely happy with my results. From the beginning, she advised me on the pros and cons of the various types of surgical options, and in fact based on her recommendations, I chose a different surgical option than I had planned on, and I am very satisfied with the results. I met with Dr. Pike for all of 5 minutes. She came in to my room, and appeared she already had her mind made up that she was no going to do my surgery. She advised there was a BMI restriction, and I advised her that was not an issue. She then advised she wasn't going to do the surgery because "how do I put this nicely, you're to heavy and need to lose more weight". I have lost nearly 100 lbs thus far. On their website they mention nothing of her not wanting to do surgery if you weigh a certain amount or the BMI restriction. She also advised she does not perform some of the services that are on their website. I advised her she should have said something prior to making an appointment and wasting $50 for a consult fee. In her chart she lied, notated incorrect statements that never took place in the 5 minutes I met with her. Hopefully I can get my money back! Find another provider. read more

I am really displeased by the level of service I received from Dr. Pike. At first things were good, but there was a lot of back and forth with her office staff as they weren't calling me back, scheduling appts etc. The military was paying for my surgery so i didn't have much of a choice on the doctor, but needless to say i still continued with the process. I received reconstructive surgery from this doctor, but it was very hard to be scheduled for follow ups right after. My incisions are horrible and she suggested she would fix it, but again never got back to me. I had a lot of pain and went to see her about it and she basically denied my pain and said I was "pill seeking", making me very upset, uncomfortable, and never checked in with me again after the follow up. I do not recommend her. I am a woman of color and I didn't like my experience with her and her office staff. read more

I had a tummy tuck procedure done by Dr. Susan Pike 3 months ago and it is one of the best decisions I've made. Dr Pike and her staff at Scott and White Surgery were very friendly the first time I went for my consultation. The procedure was explained very clearly, my questions and doubts were attended to and answered. Most importantly to me, there was a lot of assurance that I'm in good hands. Dr. Susan Pike has this very gentle and calm way about her that makes me feel safe and relaxed. I felt safe to ask questions and raise my concerns to her about what I really don't like about my body. She took the time to listen and examine me and gave me her opinion of what needs and need not be done for my case. In our discussion she came across as very confident and enthusiastic, that she knows what she can do to bring me to my goal and I have nothing to be worried or concerned about. About a month or so ago I met with Dr.Pike looking to have revision surgery done on my breasts. I had 1 breast reduction surgery in early 2012 and then breast revision surgery in August of 2012. Well after that surgery I was left with a little hollow part where the fat hadn't taken to that area. Semi like a bald spot on the inside. It looked pretty bad and I wanted to see a surgeon and see if anything could be done about it and even get a minor breast lift. I initially saw one surgeon and she gave me options of what could be done about it. Everything sounded fine but there was a miscommunication with that surgeon and I ended up going to see Dr.Pike. Well when I met with Dr.Pike I felt rushed and like she didn't care. She didn't take time with me to explain anything and or even consider doing anything about the issue. Her demeanor was like eh there's nothing I can or want to do about it and you should just accept how it is. I then asked her about a breast lift and I was baffled at how she described the procedure or at least how she does it. She basically said she just repositions the nipple and doesn't even do anything to the actual breasts including cutting them open. She said that's how breast lifts are done which I thought that was strange and a crock. I have had 2 breast lifts before and neither time did the surgeon only reposition the nipple. That wouldn't even be a breast lift. Just repositioning a nipple is not a breast lift without actually cutting open the whole breast, cutting some skin off, tightening the breasts, and then repositioning the nipples. I even relayed that info to another surgeon and even she was confused and baffled by it. Said that's not how it's done and not how she does it. I would ask Dr.Pike if a patient came in with breasts that hung down to her waste and she wanted a lift would she only just reposition the nipple and leave them hanging down to her waist? Well after that there was nothing else to be said since she clearly let me know she didn't think anything could be done nor did she want to do anything. She did give me her card and told me if I wanted to come back to her in the future to give her a call. Lol I thought yeah right lady with the way you described your breast lift technique I'd never take a chance coming to you for anything. I ended up going back to the initial surgeon I saw and got everything taken care of. She did an amazing job on my breasts and corrected the issues I had with them. I personally wouldn't waste my time with Dr.Pike. She may very well be a good doctor but I felt she wasn't very knowledgeable with any of the issues I came to her with. read more

I had a Breast augmentation done Jan 20, 2015---I had an initial consultation with Dr. Pike who made me feel so comfortable and instantly I wanted to get things going. I than had a pre op appointment where again meeting with Dr. Pike made me feel good and ready to proceed. I am 3 weeks out from having a tummy tuck with Dr. Pike and it was a great experience! I had met with other doctors, but never felt like they were listening to me and my goals and were trying to talk me into procedures that were unnecessary. Dr. Pike is such a different experience. She listened to my goals, what bothered me about my body and she gave me several options to consider. She also talked me through the details of the procedure and recovery. Dr. Pike and her nurses addressed all my questions and concerns in the pre-op consult and the day of the surgery Dr. Pike spent more time with me to ensure I had no other questions. The procedure took place at Baylor Scott and White Hospital and all the nurses were professional and helpful. At each of my follow up appointments, Dr. Pike has clearly communicated where I am in the recovery process, what is normal or to be expected. She continues to spend a lot of time with me addressing any of my questions or concerns. The recovery was not as challenging as I expected. I have been surprised by how long it is taking to get all my energy back but I was able to get up and do limited walking same day as the surgery. It was not easy but Dr. Pike prepared me well for recovery process. Dr. Pike brings a unique aspect to cosmetic surgery given she is a female doctor that understands a women's concerns. She listens to you and does not try to talk you into a surgery that is not right for you. I had my Breast Reduction surgery done by Dr. Susan Pike on the 16th of December 2014. I would like to describe my whole experience (i.e. Initial consultation, pre-op, op, post-op) as awesome for she is such an AMAZING surgeon. She is very professional, accommodating to answer every question and every concern, is respectful of all my needs and goals, and she's generous with information as to what to expect and to do before, during, and after surgery. She is a warm doctor who made me feel calm and relaxed in every procedure from taking pictures of my breasts to cutting sutures, to marking my breasts, and removing drain tubes from my incisions. She is a selfless doctor who makes personal calls and returns calls on weekends to check on my condition and to answer questions that pop up based on my day to day progress. Yesterday, 24th of December 2014, was my first post-op and Dr. Pike said that I am healing well. I love my breasts for they are not only beautiful but also, they don't give me a burden anymore for me to carry on my shoulders. About 5 weeks ago, I visited with Dr. Pike regarding breast reduction surgery. She had come highly recommended by my family doctor. At my age (67) I naturally had some apprehensions about having surgery. I cannot begin to tell you how professionally and patient oriented I found Dr. Pike and her staff. I truly felt someone understood me and was totally committed to my well being. I set my surgery date, had the surgery 4 days ago and am doing great. I never realized that the pain I had suffered in my neck, shoulders and back could be alleviated by this procedure. Since I have been home Dr. Pike has continued to provide me with personal phone calls checking on my progress. I am looking forward to continued improvement and feel I definitely was guided to a professional with true concern and dedication for her patients.
