So I originally came only to talk about my amazing experience with Susan Robinson, but an existing negative comment is requiring me to add a few things. I felt as though I had to speak up. For my first visit, I commented on the doorbell situation, but they explained to me that insurance requires this because of the high value of items in stock. It's either that or a security officer. I'd rather ring a doorbell. Shopping at SR is an experience. Having a personal shopper with you is amazing and luxurious, but I've told them I'm just looking around & have called on them only when needed. They'll do either as far as my experience goes. As far as the pricing goes, high-end jewelry is a luxury. It's a want, not a need. Every piece I've purchased from there has appraised for more than I paid. I've even checked with other jewelers before purchasing, and they always have agreed that it was worth equal to or less the amount they were asking. I can only assume with the previous negative review that this particular person hasn't shopped anywhere you can purchase a $200k engagement. (I know I never did - other than an occasional Tiffany's trip - until coming here!) So - back to my review - I don't have many pieces of real jewelry. I'm a fashion lover (and coincidentally a jewelry designer) & my tastes change with the trends so quickly that I feel as though only my most special and classic items will get the wear they're worth as real pieces. I live in Nashville and have made several trips to Tyler to visit SR. I've even purchased through photos and phone calls and had an amazing experience that way too. The only place I've ever actually purchased real jewelry is Susan Robinson, and I can only foresee that that will continue on in to the future. I love every single thing about this place. I feel so fancy going in (even though my wallet wishes it was equally as "fancy" LOL), and they really do treat you like royalty even if you're just looking or picking out the cheapest thing in the place. My better half and I have already been in communication with Kate at SR to design my engagement ring - all the way from Nashville - and I have no doubt that it will be perfect in their hands. This store is horrible! There are no prices displayed on the items. So, an employee has to walk with the customer to tell prices. Everything is absurdly expensive! Oh and don't forget ... a customer cannot walk into the store ... the door is always locked, and the customer must ring the doorbell and wait to be admitted. My visit was extremely uncomfortable. I enjoy shopping and buying as a rule. This was the worst shopping experience ... I felt like beggar! read more
