Such a lovely place with a cute vibe. Just went as a starter to our night so got an app and couple drinks. The Margaritas were strong and will worth the price! The sour dough was surprisingly really good, would definitely order again. Warm bread with balsamic just hit the spot! Service was friendly and very quick. I'll be back for sure.

Visited the Good Son at Don Mills for a birthday dinner this weekend. With reservation we were given a cozy corner booth for a group of 7. The restaurant has a modern vibe with a dark library look. The restaurant has a number of gluten free options which made it perfect for our group. The appetizers were okay with the potato shrimps and steak skewer being the only ones worth the order. We ordered 3 different pizzas with 6 slices per pie. Each were delicious and the crust was thin with a bit of crunch. One of the best gluten free crusts we've had in the Toronto area. Note: if you plan to take a cake, ensure it's included on your reservation and hopefully you're informed that this restaurant charges $5 per person to slice/ plate the cake. Definitely not worth it for a larger group.

The restaurant takes you into kind of like a Gatsby era a bit from the decor on the wall and lighting. The server was very friendly and nice however not sure if they took order incorrectly or if the kitchen cooked it wrong but my steak at first was called well done when I asked for rare. The picture I shared is the correct one. It was pretty good for a non steakhouse restaurant. Although, I highly recommend coming here for their pizza, it was amazing!

Service is great, not super pushy & they all seem to work well as a team. We got a bottle of wine & pizza for an early lunch. Prices are affordable & they have a nice patio!

Really really enjoyed everything we ordered here! We love it so much that we've been going pretty regularly. The burger with fries and any pizza on the menu have become our staples! The best day to visit is on Wednesday for their pizza special! Really can't go wrong with any you can order. I love the texture of their dough which is wood fired nicely with fresh ingredients. The burger is super super juicy and their fries are my favourite. We have always been lucky to get a table fairly quickly but would still recommend reserving ahead of time!

Nice cozy restaurant- food is good, service attentive, and drinks are half price on Sundays. Highly recommended!

Nice cozy restaurant at the "Shops at Don Mills" plaza. We visited it on Sunday. Food is good (I ordered Kale Caesar Salad, Baked Salmon and Tiramisu for a dessert. Service is attentive and as an added bonus drinks are half price on Sundays. Highly recommend!

I came here for dinner and was left pleasantly surprised. The impression it left me was beyond my expectations! The food was amazing. I tried the hand cut fries, pizza (Pesto Funghi) and the carrot cake. I did some digging to see what people recommended and I think they were spot on. I enjoyed all the food and can't wait to come back! The decor is interesting to say the least and adds character to the place. I assume the good son must've loved clocks! There was a wall full of them. The servers were kind and attentive and always filled my cup of water throughout my entire sitting. I felt super hydrated after coming here haha.

Been waiting a long time for try Good Son for winterlicious. Highly recommend booking a reservation. There were plenty of people arriving just to wait +1 hour. Parking out front is rare, but there's a parking complex 5 minutes away. Vegetarian options available for winterlicious menu and regular menu. Apps: roasted peaches & greens was eh, but I'm not a fan of fruits in salad. But the brussel sprouts were FIRE!! A thousand percent it's a MUST ORDER EVERY TIME. Main: natalina pizza was standard for a wood oven pizza. The mushroom pappardelle was a delight. The noodles were al dente and truffle oil was a nice touch. Dessert: carrot cake x2. My girlfriend raved about it for months then doubled down by ordering the same dessert twice. Let me tell you - carrot cake definitely did NOT disappoint. The carrot shavings were extremely thin so it was nice and flakey. Would definitely return for brussel sprouts and mushroom pappardelle.

We came by The Good Son at Shops at Don Mills for brunch on a Saturday. To our surprise, the restaurant was not super busy and plenty accommodation for walk-ins. FOOD (4/5) We ordered the Blueberry Pancakes and the Spicy Soppressata pizza. The blueberry pancakes are really fluffy and light. It is served with a rich blueberry compote and sauce as well as chantilly cream to add some levity. Great dish if you love pancakes! The Spicy Soppressata pizza is made in a wood oven and has a nice crisp and char. Good balance of salty and spicy. Our friends ordered the Shrimp Tostada and the Patatas Bravas. The shrimp tostada was prett6 ordinary but still tasty. The patatas bravas was really delicious and comparable to patatas bravas at tapas bars such as Bar Isabel. AMBIENCE (4/5) The interior has a bit of a modern take to a tavern meets home library. Decor was a but rustic with a bunch of clocks, paintings and books around. Nice and spacious that could be great for groups. There is a patio available as well. SERVICE (5/5) Our server was super friendly, made great recommendations and was not overly pressuring. We enjoyed our time there and was not rushed at all even when it started getting busier. VALUE (4/5) They have pretty typical brunch prices for most dishes and the food was really tasty. OVERALL (4/5) The Good Son is a great brunch option in the area however they don't open until 11 which does limit brunch timeslots for those that like an earlier brekky/brunch. The pancakes are amazing to satisfy a sweet breakfast craving and the pizza is great any time of day. I'm curious to see how their coffee and dinner service is like in the future!

THE GOOD SON . . First time trying @thegoodson_to while we were in the CF Don Mills area. We were immediately greeted by the hostess when we walked in and water was delivered quickly. They have a variety of wood oven pizzas and mains, as well as brunch options on the weekend. . . Margherita pizza 3.8/5 The Good Son Burger 4/5 Service 4/5 . . Overall we enjoyed our lunch here on a Saturday. It was not too busy so food was delivered in a timely manner. Nothing spectacular about the food, but if you're looking for something different in the area that is a sit down this place is worth a try.

One of my favourite restaurants! The atmosphere is romantic and beautifully decorated. The service is always top notch and the food never disappoints.

Food was amazing, and the service was excellent. The staff are so friendly and communicated that our steaks were accidentally overcooked in the kitchen but that it would only take a few more minutes to redo and come out. I loved the transparency, and perfectionism! Steaks came out so good!

Have heard of this spot The Good Son (@thegoodson_to ) with delicious Wood Oven Pizza at Shops at Don Mills (cfshopsdonmills ) for a while. Finally get to try it on a night out with one of my besties!! We've made reservation via Open Table app (@opentableca ) and was able to msg restaurant via the app when we were running slightly late. Loved that the mall has tons of free parking, staffs were friendly & attentive. Excellent ambiance & food! We've devoured a main & an appetizer: Appetizer: Jerk Shrimp 4 pieces ($24) -- highly recommend Piccante ($25) : wood oven pizza w/ toppings such as Walnut Pesto, House-made Sausage, Fior Di Latte, Bomba Sauce, Carmelized Onions, goat Cheese (we replaced it w/ smoked cheese) -- loved how it was made in a wood oven!! The crust was soft yet a little chewy! Every bite was delicious & heavenly. Sometimes you walk into a place and you instantly fall in love…read more Lonely Diner is just such a place. It's got this '70s rec-room basement vibe that I personally find completely irresistible. If I had a house, I'd want at least one room that looks exactly like what Lonely Diner's got going on. And fortunately, the drinks and food live up to the incredible atmosphere. I started out with the Haw Yeah ("Rum blend, amaro meletti, pernod, hawflakes, high octane black sugar falernum, mulberry grenadine, lime"), which is a delicious spin on a typical tiki drink. I've ordered it twice now, and it's satisfied me completely on both occasions. Another favorite for me is the Lucky Numb-er 8 ("Gin, pomello & lemongrass gentian, cocchi americano, dry vermouth, sichuan peppercorn tincture"), which is their spin on a white Negroni. It's so damn good. It's packed with flavor and definitely reminds me of a Negroni, but like better than any Negroni I've ever had. If that wasn't impressive enough, the food is terrific too. I tried one of their specials, the Wasabi Fried Chicken Sandwich ("Sichuan peppercorn battered fried chicken with a wasabi spiced caesar dressing and anchovies on a brioche bun"), on my latest visit and it's so, so good. The perfectly cooked and impressively juicy chicken is accompanied by an incredibly flavorful assortment of accouterments. I inhaled it, pretty much. The servers at Lonely Diner are super friendly and helpful, too. I love Lonely Diner. I hope it sticks around for a long, long time.

My party of four visited during Taste of Oakville, and in hindsight, the evening foreshadowed…read moreitself early -- the restaurant's website was down with a 404 error, and we kept finding two different addresses (one apparently their old location). We eventually found it. Upon arrival, the door swung open and struck a seated guest -- a sign of just how small the space is. The restaurant was full except for one four-top (clearly ours), and we stood awkwardly in the entrance -- which is essentially inside the dining room -- waiting to be acknowledged. When greeted, we were asked if we had a reservation. We said yes. "Table for eight?" we were asked, which felt impossible given the size of the room. We clarified four, and were pointed to the only open table. No name was requested; we realistically could have just walked in and taken it. The space is starkly lit with aggressive bright white lighting that feels more clinical than cozy. The artwork is interesting and gives a gallery-like feel -- it seems the restaurant is aiming for a downtown Toronto wine bar aesthetic, but it doesn't quite land. Our table was missing water glasses, and the stemware was mismatched -- not in an intentional, charming way, but more in a "we ran out" way. Once seated, we weren't acknowledged or offered water for nearly 20 minutes. Not rushing guests is one thing; leaving them feeling forgotten is another. When our server finally arrived, the service set the tone for the evening. One glass of water was poured before he realized another was missing. He disappeared, returned with a glass, inspected it mid-pour, then walked away again (dirty glass). After several more trips and long gaps, everyone eventually received water -- about 15 minutes later. He was polite and friendly, just clearly untrained. He shared that the owner is also the sommelier, cook, and server, and that he liked working there because he wasn't expected to know much about wine -- an interesting admission for a wine bar. The owner greeted us warmly but asked only one guest about wine preferences -- ironically the only non-wine drinker at the table. The concept appeared to be sommelier-led, though this was never explained. If that is the intention, engaging the entire table is essential. That said, the wines themselves were enjoyable; the service surrounding them was not. The Taste of Oakville menu promised three curated 3-oz pours paired with a charcuterie board for two. The pours arrived unevenly and slowly, with little explanation of the pairings. The charcuterie boards were plain and inconsistent between tables despite containing similar items -- basic fruit, crostini, simple cured meats, small portions of brie, and two slices of truffle cheese. No crackers, spreads, or thoughtful touches elevated the experience, and presentation varied noticeably. Our second wine pour didn't arrive until our mains, and service moved so slowly we requested a wine list to order a bottle. We were told there is no wine list -- "we're not that kind of restaurant." Instead, all reds are $80 and all whites $70, and the owner selects the bottle for you after asking only red or white. The concept might work if explained upfront; without context, it was confusing. At one point, noticing my empty glass, our server poured me a random red -- which turned out to be the same wine as our first pour -- and then left without serving anyone else. We had to remind staff we were still waiting for our second curated pour. Nothing about the experience felt curated. The most surprising moment of the night came when our mains arrived. As we lifted our appetizer plates -- still holding olive pits, fruit rinds, and crumbs -- the servers told us not to worry about clearing them and proceeded to place our main dishes directly on top of the used plates. I'm still shocked. I wouldn't do that at home, let alone expect it at a Lakeshore, or quite frankly, any restaurant. Two of us ordered the tagliatelle, which was tasty but contained only two small pieces of short rib -- and was difficult to enjoy while staring at discarded rinds beneath the plate. The other two ordered brisket sliders: two sliders, no sides. They tasted good but left diners hungry. One guest joked they kept thinking the fruit rinds were fries -- unfortunately accurate. We tried to make the best of the evening, but it never delivered the cozy wine-and-charcuterie experience we had anticipated -- dim lighting, thoughtful pairings, something special. After finishing our meal, we requested our bills and reminded staff we were still waiting for the third curated pour. We were told "five minutes." Those five minutes never came. Eventually, wanting simply to leave, we paid a single combined bill and sorted it out ourselves. Dinner for four totaled $460. This was not the boutique Lakeshore dining experience we expected, and ultimately, it was deeply disappointing.
