Back again with friends. Great service from our upstairs server. Friendly and jovial. Ordered the tuna ahi carpaccio. It was delicious. Although the tuna was much thicker than traditional carpaccios, I can't complain as it was more to eat. Shallots, capers, avocado crema were excellent. Toasted crostini matched perfectly. Cowboy ribeye special: Off menu special of the day was nice. Ordered it medium rare and it showed slightly below that which was ok. Accompanied with brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes. Solid with nothing wrong. Truffle fries also added and the portion was generous. Had a couple of desserts but can't remember the name. One was ice cream. Love the decor of this location and the building itself. Always feels like a treat when I come here. read more

Miller Tavern in North York is a great brunch pick if you want something a little more polished but still comforting. The restaurant has its own parking lot and the service was great. We were seated right away and they were showing Olympics in the TV. Very cozy atmosphere. Had a Velentine's date here and ordered the steak and eggs and the crab eggs Benedict. Both were filling and well-executed, with the Benedict being the standout for flavor. Don't skip dessert: their $20 dessert platter comes with four different desserts you can pick and choose from their menu, which is perfect for sharing and trying a bit of everything. Cheese scone, Danish, pistachio bun, and lemon merengue all were yum! Overall, it was a satisfying brunch and I'd happily come back when I'm craving a proper sit-down meal. read more

Our family and friends have been going to The Miller since it opened. Some of us even hung out there when it was a beer bar long ago. Recently my husband and his friend went to The Miller for their Buck a Shuck Tuesday. They had Oysters , beers , extra horseradish and lamb skewers. The bill arrived and they paid it. When they got home and looked at the bill they realized that there were many things on the bill that they never ordered or received. A French onion soup, more horseradish and extra mignonette sauce ( which is included with the oysters) and three extra beers. Once you add in tax and tip it came to a significant amount. MY husband and his friend took the bill and went back the next day to deal with the overcharge. The manager met them and explained that the restaurant has cameras and that he would check the cameras and get back to them. No apology for the overcharge , no im sorry that you had to take time out of your day to come back here and deal with this. The manager called back the next day to admit that yes there were things on the bill that they did not receive and that they could come and receive a refund for said items. So basically ...yes we added things to your bill that you did not receive and you caught us and since you were prepared to jump through our hoops we will refund you the money that you should never have paid. This is not the way you should be treating customers. everyone is human and mistakes happen but it is how you deal with those mistakes that show your customers that you care about their business. We will not be going back to The Miller and because it is a neighbourhood restaurant and we live at Yonge and Lawrence we will be sharing this story with our friends. read more

The Miller Tavern has been around forever and is a North York institution. It's been a long time since I've had a meal here so it was great to receive an invitation to dine here again. Upon arrival it looks like the restaurant has been renovated and updated in recent years. I liked the furniture and decor. Our server was very friendly although a little too pushy on the upsell. There was repeated pressure to order more and more which was a little uncomfortable. I had the garden salad with chicken and it was very delicious. Even though chicken is pretty standard, I have to say it was cooked perfectly and was very juicy and tasty. Along with the fresh salad, I really enjoyed our meal. We also enjoyed the wine we ordered along with the mango sorbet. Finally, the shrimp cocktail was an excellent appetizer. The shrimp pieces were huge and fresh, and I really liked the dipping sauce for the shrimp. One of the better shrimp cocktail appetizers I've had! Overall, a great meal at Miller Tavern! read more

Wow! What a great spot! Had it not been for the extremely loud noise from diners I would have rated this spot at 5 stars. We had to yell to be able to hear each other. Service was excellent as were the menu and wine list. And the food was divine! We shared a delicious salad which included peas, grapes, frisée, arugula etc to start. Hubby ordered the burger, which included melted cheese, grilled onions & mushrooms not to mention wagyu beef. He declared it one the best burgers he's had in years! The fries were plump and crispy British style chips. My Ahi Tuna Tartare was scrumptious! This was not an inexpensive lunch by any means, but oh so worth it from time to time! read more

It was an absolutely beautiful day and we were walking down Yonge Street in the hopes of finding a decent patio (which is easier said than done, unfortunately). Miller Tavern was suggested, and as I'd heard good things about the patio and the happy hour menu, I was in. We showed up around 5:00 and the patio was already quite crowded, but we managed to snag a pretty sweet table nevertheless. Obviously I ordered a beer, but I was definitely curious about the $5.95 "Bites" menu, so we wound up getting three things: Spicy Beef Nachos ("Cheddar, Salsa, Olives & Sour Cream"), Vegetable Spring Rolls ("Sweet & Spicy Plum Sauce"), and Calamari Rings ("Lemon Aioli"). Honestly, I was impressed by the quality (and quantity) of all of these items. The nachos were quite tasty and cheesy, the spring rolls were crispy and flavorful, and the calamari was well-breaded and perfectly cooked. And for six bucks a pop? It's a no brainer, really. I saw the reviews online but my only explanation is people mus' be frighten for over priced mediocre food served with an attitude!! On principal, if your gonna sell an entree for over $30 is should at least come with a starch. Never, have I EVER paid $48 + tax for salmon AND then have to pay for the potato or veggie accompaniments. Then this less than interested, too busy to explain the menu, waiter tells me "many people find the entree enough"! You mean they can no longer afford a full meal!! Then the $12 + fully loaded potato is basically a spud with a dollop of sour cream and "crispy onions"! It was horrible! The salmon was a 1 x 4inch segment - I believe this one fish may be beating Jesus' miracle of feeding the masses!! I asked for ground black pepper. Had to ask twice then it was brought to the table for us to serve ourselves and he quickly darted off. I'll be paying myself the tip... My mom and I asked for the soup du jour since it's 3 degrees out and we were hoping to warm up. Well, all they have is the a La carte French onion soup. No thank you, not ending my night by choking on melted Gruyère thank you very much! I usually have a glass of wine with dinner and absolutely could have but... $24+ for 8oz for the cheapest by glass!!!? Because I do desperately need wine? Well... I had a glass of Ricards Red for $8 since they haven't marked those up yet, and I won't be back for when they do! Horribly underwhelming and incredibly over-hyped!! One of my cousin recommend Miller Travern located in North York area for a dinner celebration for our soon to be Cousin-in-Law. The restaurant was busy yet also had a lot of space inside, on the patio and enclosed patio. There was also plenty of paid parking outside which was nice. As a group of six ladies we ordered two appetizers to start and of course our own entrees. To start we ordered the Classic Calamari which was accompanied with banana peppers and a lemon mustard aioli sauce. The batter on the calamari was slightly too much that when fried, the calamari was slightly too crunchy. However the lemon mustard aioli gave the calamari a really nice touch. We also ordered the This & That Combo which was a nice mixture of samplers (nothing over the top special) that we were all able to take a bite from. The ponzu sauce from this combination was absolutely delicious and tart. As for our entrees, as I was half way full from the starters, I ordered the Thai Steak Salad. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender. The dreasing really made the salad super savoury and mouth watering. The portion was perfect for me as most people say I eat like a bird. As for the other ladies, they ordered the Steak and Lobster, the Chef's Cut topped with Sauteed Mushroom (mushroom slightly too salty), the Prime Rib (serving side was very generous) and the New York Strip topped with Peppercorns Sauce. Unfortunately all of the Steak dinners except the Prim Rib dinner were served with only one side. As such the a couple ladies added an extra side of cesar to their steak dinners. Overall their entrees however looked absolutely scrumptious and mouthwatering. I will be back to try their steak menu another day when I have a partner to help me with my meal . read more

Good food, mediocre service, over-priced. If you want a leisurely meal on a very nice patio and you are not price sensitive then choose The Miller. But you can find a better experience for a better price not too far away. Food - The portabello burger was a good choice for a vegetarian. Well grilled mushroom with soft cheese and onion strings on a firm bun. My lunch partner had the cobb salad. Another fare choice with lots of variety in the meal but the grilled chicken was dry. Service - Let me just say that our server was a bit challenged. He had about 6 tables. Once he took our order, the food was delivered by a couple of other servers. He didn't come back to check on our food and we didn't see him again until someone at our table asked for a to-go carton and we ordered dessert. We waited an extraordinary length of time as he forgot to get us the coffee that we ordered. When asked to split the bill he got the split wrong. Price - The bill for two for lunch, no liquor, no dessert was about $90 + tip. Good food - but not great & mediocre service. Not what I would expect at that price point. read more

I finally got the change to come here last week with a couple of co-workers for lunch. I've booked reservations at this restaurant for years but it's always been for someone other than myself. It wasn't at all what I expected it to be. I found the decor to be a little 'dated' although I suspect they're trying to stick with the whole 'tavern' feel and for some reason, I was under the impression that the type of restaurant where you paid a lot and received not much more than an amuse bouche for as an entree. Not the case at all! I ordered the turkey club with sweet potato fries. Roast turkey with peameal bacon, tomato, lettuce, Dijon mustard, lemon aïoli and apple & hazelnut slaw. Wow. Fantastic! The peameal bacon was such a nice addition and between that, the lemon aïoli and the slaw, it truly made this the best club I think I've ever had. The service was great, the food was great and I now understand why so many people go here. I will definitely come back! read more

Had a reservation for a work lunch at 1:30pm. They called me the night before at 9:30pm asking me to come earlier which obviously was not possible. When I said I couldn't change the time, Walleed the "manager " said that furniture was being moved in and it would be disruptive and basically pushed me to cancel the reservation. Ate lunch with our friends on the patio today. The space was beautiful. I ordered a chopped salad and it had to be adjusted because of my gluten intolerance and dietary restrictions. The waiter was extremely rude, almost rolling his eyes as I explained what I needed. He acted like he was doing me a huge favour. Miller Tavern has the best patio in the area! Having a drink here surrounded by all the trees and plants made me feel like I am up North chilling in Cottage Country! The cocktail specials though amazingly priced but they were disappointingly weak. Berry Pom Fizz ($3.95) tasted like sparkling water and Pitcher of Red Sangria ($19.95) tastes like juices.... I suggest stick with the $3.95 Corona instead, at least it tasted like a Corona?! The food though is really good as I shared: Charcuterie Board ($14) - cured & smoked meats, house made pâté, mustards, pickles, and bread While I nibbled off from my friend's: Calamari ($14) - lemon mustard aïoli, chilies and Shrimp Cocktail ($16) Service was not the greatness this time.... our waitress was a little cold but I was too busy having a great time with my fellow yelpers to notice. I just hosted a private dinner in the Atlantic Room of the Miller Tavern on Yonge Street and I cannot say enough about how beautifully done the evening was, from the service to the food to the ambience. The staff of the Miller went above and beyond to accommodate us, including being highly receptive and reactive to a couple of last-minute adjustments. The food was wonderful, and our primary server was an absolute gem. I would rebook at this venue for another event in a heartbeat. Big thumbs up! read more

We came for Mother's Day brunch for their fixed price menu. It was $3 more than usual, apparently, due to it being Mother's Day. Their free parking lot was full at 11 am so we had to park in the paid one. We were promptly showed to our table upstairs. We would have liked sitting on the patio, though. Anyway, our waitress was patient and came to us a few times while we looked over the menu. They give quite a lot of choices for the entrée, which I was happy about. For $30 per person, it isn't bad at all. The meal came with an alcoholic drink, bread basket, entrée, and dessert. We also had a 15% off coupon that we could use for the brunch that we got at a hotel somewhere. Mimosa: this had quite a good portion of alcohol in it. Came in a skinny glass so probably didn't have much liquid in general, though. Bread basket: came with a variety of breads / muffins / croissants. We would have liked 1 of each for each person. It was more like 2 of each except 1 croissant. There was butter and 3 types of jam on the table too. Ravioli and poached egg: I decided to get this but kind of regret it after seeing the croissant sandwich entrée. It had two large ravioli on a bed of cooked spinach, with a poached egg on top covered in hollandaise sauce. There were two asparagus on the plate as well. The top was covered in a variety of fruits. The ravioli was very good, with mushroom on the insides. The spinach was cooked well. Asparagus was ok, mine were a bit thick/old. The egg was cooked nicely so that when cut, yolk ran out. Fruits were ok but I would have preferred salad. Lemon parfait: this looked really pretty. I loved the meringue stick it was topped with. The layers were whipped cream, lemon custard, fruits, and sponge cake. It was quite a heavy dessert. The meringue was the best part! When the waitress brought us the bill she forgot the 15% coupon, but she apologized politely and corrected the mistake. The upstairs women's washroom is only 1 room, while apparently they had 8 stalls downstairs. Not the most women-friendly! Overall it was a fun brunch. For $30 and 15% off, the multiple course meal with alcoholic drink is a pretty good deal. A good choice for Mother's Day brunch! read more

The Good; the french fries served with the wagyu burger were absolutely delicious. The chairs on the patio were super comfortable. The washroom smelled lovely. The Bad; Dinner took 3+ hours, and included a 35 minute wait for our server to first approach the table, plus another 10 at the end to get a bill. No quality check on the meals. The food runner touched the bread on the charcuterie board. The bartender should know a) what rocks are b) whether he has dark rum c) what the dessert of the day is. The Ugly; 2 couples a couple drinks $500 + tip. The condescending and demeaning looks from the manager and staff, were obvious and not appreciated. The slow speed to get food and drink was unacceptable. How to 'make people's day'... 1) If your clients aren't wearing a suit and tie, it doesn't mean they don't belong. Don't judge my book by my cover. 2) Know what you offer. Details matter. 3) Understand the situation; Offering Prosecco on the house after 3+ hours of sitting, waiting patiently, paying the bill, and are ready to leave, you missed your chance to ensure a positive customer experience. 8+ years in the restaurant business as a host, bartender, server and manager (2x) does give me the right to judge. Elegant environment with super nice, calming, charming staff. Amazing French fries, great salads. My friend loved her roast chicken sandwich. Music was from late 1800s to go along with the restaurant's theme. I ordered a burger and didn't really like it. The bun was burnt, too buttery and there my too much pepper. But again I'm very picky about my burgers :) I would recommend that the radish in the salads be cut in a diff shape or not put in at all because it kinda of felt like a tongue which grossed me out. read more

Great place! My fiancee and I sat on the patio and love it. We ordered some East Coast oysters for starters and I loved how briny these ones tasted. For the main, I ordered the lobster mac and cheese. It was a good portion size, not too big, and I loved the cheeses they used. My fiancee ordered the mussels with fries and also loved her dish. I had some of her fries and I liked the cook and saltiness. For dessert, we shared the chocolate trio. It was very satisfying for a chocoholic like me. We were also a fan of the pinot grigio they had on the menu and my fiancee made sure to take a picture of the bottle for future purchases. We go for happy hour which is until 6 pm on weekdays. Nice patio if you can get a spot. The banana caramel crunch dessert was disappointing ($9) but the server suggested I go with the toffee pudding. Regret! The happy hour bites for $5.50 are small but tasty. I like the Thai steak lettuce wrap (you get 2). The prime rib slider was a 3/5 (happy hour portion). Once again I'm astonished of how many people The Miller have working downstairs and yet can't provide a semblance of service. The people seem more interested in socialising rather than serving or cleaning, if you have time to lean then you have time to clean, our table was filthy and continued to be filthy even after being wiped down with what seemed to be water, no cleaning agent to be found . Came last night with my parents and sisters. I enjoyed our dinner here. It was very busy and everyone looked happy to be there! We ordered drinks then appetizers then mains. For appetizers our table had: 2 French onion soups, seafood chowder, beet salad & calamari. My sisters had the onion soups and said they changed the recipe (they go to Miller tavern often) and now it's much better! The beet salad was really good and a perfect portion. For mains, chicken curry, two filet mignons, ribeye steak and salad. I wish the salads were a bit bigger. The steak sides are very good. Overall, a good restaurant in midtown Toronto! Manager, a young adult that does not understand a lick of costumer service. This gentleman with brown hair and braces, has no inkling of what 'booking a section for a retirement party' means. He allowed guests to disrupt a retirement party while prancing around and pacing like a pony. Some leadership there. Overall, this distasteful act left many within the party feeling unwanted and unwilling to give money to the establishment. This is one of my favorite restaurants to visit for birthday or some other special occasion. Have been coming here from 2007 - their desserts are amazing, also the main dishes are pretty good. I do think that the prices are little too high, but the restaurant is very beautiful and I love the vibe there. This restaurant is great to celebrate birthday or anniversary. The Miller is cozy with lots of seating and gets quite busy during lunch. I sat in the upstairs terrance and enjoyed one of the few spots in the restaurant with natural lighting. The Chicken Cobb salad has all the components of a good salad with fresh ingredients, complementary dressing (this one had a bit of a kick from a hint of mustard) and filled my tummy up. It hits the salad spot but at $20 pre tax and tip, it's ludicrous. If it wasn't on the company's tab I wouldn't pay out of my own pocket. I much rather prefer the food court pumpernickel or fast fresh salads for under $12 but unfortunately there aren't many lunch options up near York Mills. Service wise, the waitress took forever to come around to take our order and gave off the attitude that she didn't want to be there. To sum up in Miller in one sentence: Steep prices for average food and below average service. read more
