Had lunch here with the family 4x in total, 2 of which are seniors. We walked in 30 minutes after opening and were informed that the main cook was running a bit late. We didn't care since it was rainy and was not in a great rush. After us, a few more customers came in and pretty much everyone was doing the AYCE. The way it works is you write down the item # and followed by quantity. They did emphasize that you will be penalized should you waste any food twice before we actually placed our order. We waited a good 20-30 minutes or so before we were served actual food. The waiter did hand us the Japanese seaweed salad quickly as that didn't need to be cooked. BTW, everything is served as 1pc! So in preparation for the long wait, we were ordering our next order as the wait was long. Waiter was handing food 1 by 1. Midway during our lunch we were informed that the French couple eating at the other table was done and that the "OWNER" preferred the French way of ppl eating AYCE. As they hardly ate anything, left and paid AYCE price. I was like what the ....! To top it off we were asked multiple times if we were full. The whole situation was so absurd and laughable. Was I eating for free? Last time I checked I was a paying customer. If they felt cheated regarding the price versus quantity of eating they should have thought of that as NOT all people walking to through their door will eat like a bird! Food wise it was okay. The udon broths were good, we had seafood and spicy beef. Seafood fried rice was good. In terms of sushi and hand roll, fish to rice ratio was 1 to 3. It was pretty much all rice, I guess this is how they make up their margin. Also, no tuna it was just pretty much salmon. Shrimp tempura was okay. The sushi pizza was swimming in mayo. We ordered 1x Grilled Saury but was informed much later that they don't have it. Drinks are not included in the AYCE. So if you want to be harassed and be constantly reminded of how much you shouldn't be eating, then come here. Or if you need a no frill lunch and dinner at a decent pricing then this is the spot for you. read more

This place is great. Monday thru Thursday the price is $36. On Friday thru Sunday and holidays the price is $39. The waitstaff on my visit was great. Very helpful and attentive. Provided me with an English menu since I don't speak or read French. Service was fast and the food was very fresh. By far one of the best all you can eat sushi restaurants I've ever been to. The place does have some bad reviews but I see nothing wrong here personally. I travel all over the US and Canada for work and I've been to many places to eat. This place has great food, great service, and a great atmosphere. Make sure you plan a visit here soon. read more

Food - definitely great! I ended up doing the all-you-can-eat menu and it was absolutely worth it! Tried most of their makis, seafood fried rice, tempuras, salmon (teriyaki and grilled). Devoured every single one that I ordered. This place is that good. Service - Jack was my server and he was awesome! He went above and beyond what's expected of him. Super nice as well. Had great convo with him about American politics. Ambiance - was pretty chill. Went towards the end of lunch time so there weren't many people hence I didn't have to wait long for my orders. We are from California, and we honestly did not expect much, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi here! Everything was well presented and tasted amazing! The food portions were small but since it is a buffet, we were able to try everything we liked. The server was very friendly and wonderful! We had such a great experience eating here! We do not speak French but he was able to speak bilingually which helped us greatly. This place is definitely recommended. We will drop by again the next time we are in Quebec City! read more

Really good sushi for all you can eat! Order comes out really fast and it is very reasonably priced at $17 for lunch and $25 for dinner. More options are available for dinner such as sashimi and that's the reason for the increase in price at night. There is a charge for any food wasted though and so it makes for a more stressful experience as you try to eat everything you ordered. read more

The food was mediocre for its price. The service was extremely poor. Unless my family just got unlucky tonight with the servers. Would recommend that you check out a different sushi place. Friendly waiters/staff speak english, menus come in english. Waitress was patient in explaining special all you can eat and options they have. Had crispy dragon roll it was amazing and fresh!! Give this place a 4 stars. Fresh food with lots choices. My favourite goes to its grilled salmon belly. Service is fast and good. Orders are accurate. The only one item I was disappointed with was its ramen. I ordered ramen and wished for the thin good quality noodles with tasty pork/chicken soup but it was udon noodle and the soup was basically water with soy sauce. Recommend this place and will try their lunch next time. read more

In my opinion. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could. For people giving this 5 stars, they have clearly not tasted sushi on either coast. For a typical all you can eat, it's sub par. The concept and menu is great. Service is great. Nevertheless, the food is not always fresh. The fish is dry at times. Portions are really small compared to my experience at other venues. In the end I would suggest it. It is an overall good experience and decent food, if you're craving all you can eat sushi. read more

Great idea for a restaurant. My girlfriend and I walked in, and were immediately sat down. We wrote our orders on slips of paper that were provided for the table, using the number system on the menu. It was all you can eat, and you could write down as many items as you wanted. Any sushi not eaten was charged a dollar extra. read more

Of course all the orders after that came at 30 minutes interval. On our third and last order, we were over it and left because we were already spending so much time on a lunch and each item took more than 10 mins to be served. This is not a way to treat customers ! Friday 6:30 PM we ask for a table for 3 (my 3 yo son, my husband and myself). Friday night, no reservation... I totally understand that we will have some wait. Been with a kid, I ask for an estimate. They can't provide an answer as it's a buffet ! 2h30 later, seems that we have been totally forgotten even if we are standing outside by the glass windows (and my son running around with a flashy yellow jacket) and we took 2 trips to the restroom. 9 PM we are finally able to sit and ask for a Diet Coke [including in our menu] - beverage were never delivered. 9:30 PM we are eating our 1st order when the waitress announces us we are allowed to a last call. REALLY ?! It's supposed to be an ALL YOU CAN EAT restaurant and we are rushed to place our last order ! You got to be kidding me. My last handrolls are delivered and poorly rolled, there are felling appart. Quality of the product are OK but customer service is inexistant or rude. As Americans, we were a bit concerned about navigating QC with a limited proficiency in French. As we struggled through the visit with short phrases, butchering the language no doubt, we found most people very helpful. Naturally, some were rude. This place, however, set the standard. The wait staff were bilingual and very understanding. The atmosphere was casual yet very comfortable. And for a reasonable price, we enjoyed the "all you can eat" platter, which allows one to try a lot of items that may not have been otherwise selected. Fresh, inviting, and hospitable. Toke a long walk from Hotel Frontenac. It's a little down from the farmers market. AYCE sushi and it was such a nice surprise. The cooked food was amazing too. Very bad service had to wait 15min for our food to arrive cold, rude waiters, we get less items than what we asked for. Doesn't matter if you reserve in advance it's the same thing sometimes they don't even come to clean out the food and pick up our order. The food is not that tasty. read more

The nigiri had way too much rice on it, and the soy sauce tasted too sweet, almost as if it was mixed with something else. One thing I really did like though, is the tataki beef. This restaurant is currently open. This was probably the worst customer service experience ever. My mother and I walked in shortly after 5:30pm. We were immediately given the all you can eat menu. We weren't very hungry and asked for smaller menu options. Price was never an issue. We were then provided a take out menu, which featured combo meals, appetizers, bento boxes, a la carte. This was great! However, I wish I could keep my review at great. Unfortunately, I cannot. The young man and the gentleman that cashed us out was great. However, the man who was, who apppeared to be the manager/team leader was horrendous. His attitude was terrible. Our order was placed. There were at least 4 tables that came in after us. They were served immediately. My mom and I ordered simple Bento boxes. Our meal took 25 - 30 minutes to arrive at our table. We asked why were other tables being serviced after us. The manger/team leader had such a nasty attitude. He began yelling at me, stating this is the best Sushi in Quebec. This guy was yelling at me! I was completely shocked. I've traveled around the world and never seen such rude behavior. Since, he shared this is the best in Quebec, I shared I'm from New York City. He explained our bento box had food that needed to be cooked longer. I said I didn't know that. It seemed neglectful when everyone's food arrived before ours. This guy seriously should not be in the customer service industry, it's truly not his gift. I would never eat there again. Maybe he had a bad day. Really enjoyed our experience at Sushi Samurai! Professional staff were able to explain ordering process in English and provide us with an English menu. You pay one price ($28 pp for dinner) and order whatever you want off of the menu (drinks and ice cream included). Highly recommend the tempura crabstick, grilled mussels the spicy sauce, cucumber crystals and chicken teriyaki rice paper rolls. The tempura is nothing great but the rest of the menu is pretty good.
