Last night there were only two of us, and the restaurant was less than half full. Service was slow, though we weren't rushed, so that wasn't a major issue. What stood out was that no one checked on our table or asked whether we wanted dessert or coffee. My main disappointment, however, was the $36 "sushi and sashimi" plate. While it included several pieces of sashimi, two specialty tapas, and a soup or salad--overall a fair value--the four pieces of California roll included were subpar. They were loosely packed, difficult to pick up, and felt more like something from a fast-food sushi kiosk than a restaurant of this caliber. This isn't the first time I've ordered this dish and encountered the same issue. It's unfortunate to see an otherwise beautiful plate diminished by such a weak component. That said, it remains a great place to visit overall, especially as a BYOW spot.

It's served into a glass with a lime flavored popsicle to give it extra flavor. Ordering: the way the menu works is that everyone gets the same things included with their meal. Conclusion: filet mignon cut up in cubes had a rich beefy flavor that comes from the fat in the meat that is seared. It's really good, super tender and juicy. The sirloin also cooked and cubed has a flatter taste but still really tender and delicious. If budget is not an issue, go with the filet mignon, your taste buds will be singing! Staff was friendly and polite. The cooks, depending who you get make their own jokes to entertain you while cooking. Our cook did this knife flipping thing with his chef's knife into it's holster several times like it was nothing. I could just envision myself trying that and losing fingers and toes in the process!!! Overall, it's just a touch pricey but I loved the experience! We were all very satisfied. I decided to go for their sushi rolls over their poke because I was planning on eating these on the plane, and sushi would be a lot easier to handle. It was quick to pick up a ready-made box of sushi and pay. The price was pretty steep at 27 CAD, but with the conversion rate it settled at a mere 20 USD which is expected for a box of 8 regular rolls, 3 big rolls, and 4 pieces of sushi. I was very satisfied with my choice on the plane, and if I was back here and needed a quick dinner, I would definitely go again.
