Had my first taste at this food truck at Rohnert Park farmers market last night and I was thrilled to see that they are from Santa Rosa. Had my first Poke Burrito Roll and it was amazing. Full of fresh ingredients and made to order. The owner was extremely nice. Went back and got a salmon roll that was also delicious. I plan to try many of the other items in the future. I shared each of the rolls and it was a satisfying dinner. Rolls also come with some edaname. read more

Okay, I have this food truck 2 shots at being good and I'm disappointed I have to write a negative review. Only 1 person working in the truck, same guy who takes your $$ then turns around and touches your food! Because there's only one person working it takes FOREVER to get your food. The fish didn't taste fresh at all and I actually got sick an hour after eating. Only the 2nd visit I got sick and I'll never make that mistake again. Their was only one guy working which concerned me (there is only one person handling food and money??) but it was my only lunch option that except for burgers. I took a chance and ordered the organic tempeh sushi burrito. The cook/cashier/greeter was very pleasant an explained the menu item to me. Unfortunately, the sushi burrito was so soggy inside and bland. The size was good for the price but it was way too much liquid inside and I was disappointed that they didn't offer brown rice as an option. I would not eat here again; especially, since the two times that I have seen them, they have been out of the veggie bowl. read more

Very good Poke bowl! Probably the best I've had and that is saying a lot. Well balanced with ample portion of poke, avocado, rice, and vegetables. The guy working the truck (by himself) definitely knows Japanese culinary art!! Only improvement I would say is to have at least two people working the truck to serve the meals faster. read more

Shoubu truck just joined the Novato Farmers Market this summer. I came for something else (who apparently decided not to come this year), so I went with three Poke bowls from Shoubu, to go. Fresh tuna, pork, and chicken to share with the family. We tried all kinds. Everything was good! The tuna was fresh and plentiful. The chicken was flavorful and tender. Pork-yey. The veggies in each bowl is very fresh. The sauce is just right. We were happy and satisfied! It will be our Tuesday dinner all summer long. read more

Shoubu was parked at one of our favorite local spots:The Block. Even though I was craving fish and chips, once I saw there was sushi burritos, I abandoned ship and made a beeline for the white & Grey, sakura-covered trick that is Shoubu. Ordered the Salmon sashimi burrito whole size for $12 or $13. It came with a small serving of soy sauce and a large serving of wasabi. Super yummy. Would get it again. The only downside is the thin white paper it was wrapped in that quickly becomes soggy and drippy. read more

I've visited this truck twice now at its Mercury Way Monday spot. I first came because I was stoked to hear that there was authentic ramen on the west side of town. Indeed I enjoyed the shoyu bowl with delicious and moist Chashu pork. It was not too salty and the toppings paired together well. The broth was rich and complex and the noodles were not over cooked. Bonus points for an egg that was actually soft-boiled! On my second visit, I tried the poke burrito. I enjoyed it, especially the tangy vinaigrette and well-seasoned fish. It was a little hard to eat on the go but I managed. There are also a variety of La Croix flavors for purchase. I think prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. I definitely hope to be a regular of Shoubu and I look forward to following its progress around town! read more

I haven't tried all the items on the menu from Shoubu but here's what I really like so far: - The immaculate, beautifully-maintained food truck. - The commitment to quality ingredients. The ahi and the pork are restaurant quality. - The marinated pork is particularly delicious. Not dry or leathery or chewy but gently cooked and melt-in-your mouth tender. Yum. - Creative adaptation of Japanese standards to the food truck setting, without sacrificing authenticity - for example, the sushi burrito wrapped in nori. I hate to say it (since it's good having an Asian food truck plying it's trade here in the North Bay, where food trucks consist mostly of Mexican and American food), but my experience with Shoubu is mostly one of disappointment. The menu choices are expensively priced for what you get: their $12 "medium" bowl is basically a scoop of rice, a scoop of salad, and five or six small pieces of fish. Then their large bowl is basically a regular bowl at any other poke shop. Shoubu, at least be honest to your customers and identify the size of your bowls correctly. Then there's the wait for your food. Single orders can take upwards of 20 minutes to be fulfilled, even when the truck isn't busy. There's no acknowledgement on their end of the wait, either. These disappointments would be more palatable if the food was impressive, which it isn't. The food is not bad by any means, especially if priced/served correctly. But therein lies Shoubu's problem. read more

During the shelter in place order my family and myself consistently ate good home cooked meals using organic ingredients from the local market and produce grown in the backyard. As restaurants and food trucks began opening back up eating food outside of home was always a disappointment and felt unclean. My wife really loves the food here so I decided that I would have them cater for her birthday and this is now my go-to spot. The food is beautifully put together so it's visually appealing and the flavors are out of this world! The portions are surprisingly filling, but the food isn't heavy at all.
