Asked for extra salad and I got rice? Plus the chicken is super dry and salty. I couldn't eat it .

Teriyaki chicken was dry, but I decided to give them a second chance and ordered the chicken she burrito. Dryyyyyyyyy There's not enough water in the Mission to make this chicken moist at all. Hey at least I gave it to tries that was Your last chance.

Their was only one guy working which concerned me (there is only one person handling food and money??) but it was my only lunch option that except for burgers. I took a chance and ordered the organic tempeh sushi burrito. The cook/cashier/greeter was very pleasant an explained the menu item to me. Unfortunately, the sushi burrito was so soggy inside and bland. The size was good for the price but it was way too much liquid inside and I was disappointed that they didn't offer brown rice as an option. I would not eat here again; especially, since the two times that I have seen them, they have been out of the veggie bowl.

Shoubu was parked at one of our favorite local spots:The Block. Even though I was craving fish and chips, once I saw there was sushi burritos, I abandoned ship and made a beeline for the white & Grey, sakura-covered trick that is Shoubu. Ordered the Salmon sashimi burrito whole size for $12 or $13. It came with a small serving of soy sauce and a large serving of wasabi. Super yummy. Would get it again. The only downside is the thin white paper it was wrapped in that quickly becomes soggy and drippy.

And my taste are different differently different than others. There was something off about the kimchi... It just didn't taste like what I'm used to, but I mean that could be a restaurant thing. I was also thrown off by the macaroni salad. It also had no flavor. I really enjoyed the bean sprouts and wanted to get another serving but was told it was a sample serving and that they don't do more than that. I could pay two dollars m Overall, I think my biggest issue was that a lot of the food was much sweeter than I expected. I was especially surprised by the grilled shrimp because I never imagined it would taste that sweet. I'm not going to lie, I still ate everything because I paid for it and didn't want to waste the food. The highlight of the meal was the Love Boat sushi roll that they light on fire. Visually, it was really impressive and made for a fun presentation. Taste wise, though, it was just an average sushi roll. I couldn't tell that the fire added anything to the flavor. I didn't notice any smokiness or anything that elevated the dish, and I honestly think it would have tasted the same without the fire. For what I paid, I don't think the meal was worth it, so I probably wouldn't come back just for myself. That said, I can see why other people might enjoy it. I did really like the jalapeño on the sushi roll because it added a nice kick, so I would order that again. This is also one of the few times I've had Thai iced tea that was simply too sweet for my taste.

My food was still warm when I got home!!! Shocker! My go to is their ramen! I like the spice to it and they give it to you with a small bowl! My partner got their lion roll which was delicious !!! Forgot the name of the other roll. Service was great as always, the staff has always been friendly and accommodating when we go. The inside renovation is nice! Feels super upscale but prices have remained consistent which is a bonus. If you haven't gone here you should!

Updating prior review…read more.. I used to come here a lot and really enjoyed it. Decided to give them a try after going to some other sushi places for a bit, so it was a nostalgia trip. They have also just completed an expansion and remodel which added more seating, and opened up the restaurant with a bit. They still use the iPad based ordering system which I always like, since it allows for better pacing. While before I praised them, this time left more to be desired. The sheen seems to have come off. Not sure if they changed chefs, but fish did not seem as fresh, sauces were a lot more heavy handed (overkill), and it just didn't feel as clean tasting as it used to. Maybe an off night, but not nearly as good as I remembered it to be. They have more cute robots now - and the bee decor makes it feel more like a proper restaurant. Though they have a wide menu - I would probably encourage sushi lovers to look elsewhere. The ramen, fried rice, dumplings and bento boxes are probably a stronger suit here now. They also seem to be doing a lot of take out service now as well.

We were served by the amazing Chef Gary Chu himself, and he made customized meals based on our preferences. We were the last people to leave, and we didn't feel rushed at all. Now since then, the sushi has always been made with love, quality you can taste. The service is elite, dining experience is amazing with white tablecloth (or bar) and friendly and helpful staff. Before, I was told they have limited GF items but today, I was told they can make everything GF for an up charge of $3 per roll like substituting real crab or crispy shrimp. With that, I was able to try some new items and every single one roll we got was delicious. Got a mix of different fishes and types of rolls (see pictures below). They also offer a house made soy honey sauce that they can make GF, and tamari. Spicy mayo is already GF. Now knowing what I know, I won't wait so long to come back.
