We absolutely LOVE this place! We eat here at least twice a week, and the service is always awesome. The fish is always fresh, and they have so many great specialty items and lunch deals. The garlic-spiced edamame is honestly some of the best I've ever had! The veggie tempura is light, crispy, and perfectly crunchy. For lunch, the orange chicken bento is probably my go-to. They make it in-house, and it's the perfect balance--not too sweet and not overly breaded. For dinner, the fish boat is my absolute favorite! I don't know for the life of me why this place has high ratings; this is the worst Sushi place I have ever been to. I was working this past July in Bullhead, Arizona for a project and it was my first time being there. My co-worker and I are both from California, which has some of the best Sushi. We decided to find a sushi place. This place, "Sushi Spot" had the highest rating, and that was our first mistake. We were both very hungry, and when we walked in, I just felt something was off, it was a very weird setting for a Sushi place; it felt like we were in a Mexican restaurant. Even the men behind the counter who were making the Sushi were Latin, and so were all the servers. I have nothing against Latinos, but I have never seen a Sushi place like this. Then this little girl with glasses, with a very nasty attitude, not even hello or a smile, took us to our table. My friend also found the place a little odd, but we were up at 4 Am and had worked all day and tired. I told my friend if you want to go somewhere else we don't have to stay here. I personally felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. My co-worker said he was too tired to drive somewhere else. The little waitress came back, and we asked for Green tea, which is usually served at every Sushi place for free, and she said we only have tea bags. I asked her, you don't serve Green tea at all? she said: "no only Chinese restaurants do that". We both ordered the Bento box that comes with either Chicken, fish or Beef. I have had the Bento box at many Sushi places, but this one was not what I call a real Bento box. The beef came in tiny pieces like flakes you see in a cereal. They were barely warm, mixed in with shredded cabbage that wasn't even cooked. The rolls tasted awful, and the miso soup was barely warm. My friend ordered Salmon Bento; it was so tiny, the rice was ok, and the rest was like mine, below average. Everything about this place was awful, and to add insult to injury, they started mopping the floor with bleach right next to our table right as we were eating and the smell was just unbearable. I told my friend it's time to leave, and we asked for the check. This little waitress came over and she didn't even have reciept, she yelled out what the total was. You couldn't get to more ghetto than this place that looked like some low-grade restaurant that calls itself " Sushi Spot"? I don't think the people who are rating this place have any idea of what real Sushi is. read more

Even though we have all you can eat sushi in Reno all the time,we like to try sushi everywhere we go. Unfortunately this place only does AYCE sushi on Tuesdays and Thursday nights, so we went during lunch and had bento boxes. The bento boxes come with miso soup, salad, rice, california roll, egg roll, and what ever kind of entre you choose. One of us had the teriyaki salmon, 2 had the teriyaki beef and one had the chicken katsu. All 3 were good choices. The food was good, the service was great, and the place was playing good music but not too loud, so very enjoyable. Only reason it gets 4 stars is because of the lack of all you can eat. We've been here a couple of times. The sushi is bomb! We've had the sashimi and it was yummy! We had the fried ice cream for dessert and it was delicious. Avocado bomb is a must! We will definitely be back! The service isn't great so that is why I do not give it a 5/5. read more

The Tuesday night all you can eat is probably the best thing that they have. I don't know if it's because it's a different sushi chef, but it is a good Tuesday night for sure. I went in for lunch the other day and I had one roll and one tuna and it was with the with a $3 tip $35. They do have lunch specials which I should have gotten. This is the first sushi restaurant that I've been in where they don't give you at least a cup of miso and a little salad along the side. So $35 for one roll and one tuna was a little bit over the top with no extra anything. The service is always nice and the place looks fabulous. They made it look Japanese so it really does look beautiful and it is very comfortable in there. Next time I just will get something from the lunch menu. read more

Lunch bento box with orange chicken $15.99. After we received our food we waited 3 minutes for wasabi and ginger which was odd for a Japanese restaurant and annoying. The rice was warm and not real appealing. The sushi was delicious and fresh. The bento box was a good value but the lettuce salad lacked dressing and the spring salad greens were bitter; couldn't eat. The chicken was hot, great flavor, and a good portion. Not only did she accommodate us, but she went above and beyond our needs. We had 2 birthdays in our party, they took the time to decorate for our party with balloons and a banner. Came down here for vacation from the LA area and was seriously craving sushi. Thought, 'why not?' and picked this place based on the solid reviews. I'll be honest I was a little nervous about eating sushi in the desert (felt kinda sketchy), but wow, it was actually really good! My husband and I moved here from Vegas a few months ago and thought we'd have to make the hour and a half drive back to Vegas to eat good sushi but this place truly surprised us! Our waitress was inviting, kind and funny. The food looked as amazing as it tasted. The rolls seem pricey when looking at the menu (and coming from Vegas where every sushi place has all you can eat for $27) but the rolls are HUGE, filling and well worth the price.
