I finally came to try this place and welp, one and done for me! I ordered 2 separate cut rolls and a vegetable tempura. First the "vegetable tempura" came out and if it wasn't for the 1 small piece of broccoli, I literally had to ask what they served me as I can only say it looked like a bunch of shrimp legs that they tempura fried. The lady said they were carrots! Maybe the left over bits from the cutting board? Clueless as to how they thought this was acceptable! It appears they basically use the very thin cut carrots for the sushi rolls, and they deep fry them and that's the vegetable tempura! They were about as thick as toothpicks! Weirdest thing I've seen. It also came with some weird thick sauce that tasted more Thai than anything. (Not what is normally served with tempura) The 2 rolls I ordered, literally looked exactly the same. They were very different on menu but it was colorless, bland and no thank you! $40 for crap. I gave 2 stars as the lady was nice enough and the place appeared to be clean. read more

Maki Sushi is a hidden gem, Japanese Restaurant. It is easy to miss as you drive down AZ 95 in Bullhead City, located in the corner of the curve. The establishment is run by an old couple, the lady serving as a waitress and the gentleman serving as the chef. The ambience is quiet. Their Sushi are made fresh and of good quantity for their price. 1 piece of Sushi were so big in size that you would have to bite into it twice. Service is good. Very slow preparation, we were only ones there and they took forever to serve. Once they did the portions were abnormally large and the quality was below average. Tried to cut it off early as I wasn't liking the food much but they are the first sushi establishment to force us to take all of the orders. The rolls were falling apart before we could even eat them. The Dragon roll was horrible, and that takes work since my kids normally love dragon rolls. They almost gagged on these ones . Do not recommend. The first hint that it wasn't going to be good was that the place was empty. They did however charge premium rates. I don't expect this place to be in business for very long. Maybe there are such good reviews because there aren't many good sushi places in the area? We don't live in the area so we decided to stop by for lunch ( we live in Los Angeles). It took 1 hour to get our food ( we were the only people inside the restaurant). Way overpriced for the quality. Sashimi was decent but all of the rolls had too much rice and it was dense. We ended up picking out the fish in the rolls and just leaving plates full of rice. We also never received our entire order. Several dishes were so salty they were inedible. Server stated no one else has complained and she that she didn't add extra salt and insisted the the meal be paid for even thought it wasn't eaten and was sent back due to it being overly salted, several other item were too salty as well read more

Got here at 8:00 Pm and ordered 5 minutes after arriving. still sitting here without our food and it's 9:15. I cannot believe that it took an entire hour to make a sushi roll. The salad we had ordered was a $30 salad (picture below) NOT WORTH 30$ we immediately asked for it to be taken back they refused to take the salad back. First off we requested the Jalopeno Roll with crab instead of spicy tuna and OMG delicious. We split it between 3 people and we contemplated ordering another it was so good. Creamy and spicy! We've been here several times now. Hard to find good sushi in Bullhead City! The first time we weren't overly impressed BUT the portions are really amazing and we decided to try again, just order things differently than the first time. AND win!! The spicy tuna salad was amazing, loaded with lots of good spicy tuna, everything fresh and tasty. DH got his usual salmon sashimi and the pieces are HUGE. I got a roll and it too was huge (had to eat it with my fingers, too big for wrestling with chopsticks!) and we were happy with what we got. Just ate there again yesterday and the waitress/owner recognized us and comped us a small hot sake - appreciated because it was so cold and windy outside. Again I got that salad and DH got his seaweed salad and salmon sashimi and we left very happy and very full. This will be our go-to place now. read more

I normally do not leave reviews like this, but I decided that if I saw that other people posted that they had a similar reaction that I would share my experience as well. Lo and behold, I come here to see that other people have gotten sick from eating here. Walked in with a bottle of gluten-free soy sauce not sure what to expect. The outside belies the welcoming atmosphere of both the ambiance and Gregory, the proprietor. Sampled the white tuna, snow crab and mackerel while eagerly awaiting our "Red Dragon" roll. The fish was impressively fresh (being that it's Bullhead City, of course) and the experience reassuring. I had a few sushi rolls and some edamame. it was good. The quality wasn't bad but not great. The only actual problem I had with the place was how large the sushi rolls were. I feel like sushi is a delicacy and is meant to be eaten in one bite otherwise you're not getting all the flavor you're supposed to. The sushi pieces are too large to eat in one bite. This also makes it difficult to eat with chopsticks which just takes away from the whole experience. You guys should consider shrinking them to at least a reasonable size. Theres a reason you're the only people in town doing this. If people liked that then everyone would be doing it. Just something to think about read more
