I had the best lobster bisque here at the Range steakhouse. Taste not too heavy and with sizeable lobster lumps. And the most wonderful serving team of Brandy and Emily. They were so hospitable and took care of us really well. My seafood Fra Diablo was genuinely a hefty portion. The king crab leg was amazing as part of the dish. The service was good and attentive. So none of the fault is on them. Though it wasn't busy yesterday, it did take a while for the food to be brought to our table, around 45 minutes that I timed. The fault lies in the back of the house. Not terrible or awful, but bordering on being a nuisance in regards to time to table. That being said, the food quality was lacking. That is the issue. And it only matters because this restaurant is larping as a fine dining experience. I frequent vegas restaurants who pay more for overhead and location and their quality is far superior and similarly priced. The water tasted awful. Basically, If I could describe it, it tasted tainted by river. Like a swampy dirty smell with every sip. I basically stopped drinking any water during my whole dining experience there for this reason. Granted, it could have been my particular glass was dirty, or partially washed. It may just be that the water isn't filtered and it is tap. However after tasting my wife's, hers tasted similar albeit not as strong. The problem is, the tri-state area has the worst tap around. Everyone knows this. This wouldn't be a big deal if this was dennys. The problem is, like I said, this place is masquerading as a fine dining experience. It should be held to that standard. The minimum would be filtered water. So it's either a problem with the dish washer or the water itself is poor quality. Or they get the water from the casino bar which are notoriously bad quality in laughlin. Next we go to the meat itself. It may be that it was lacking because I went on their discount day, which I was unaware that it was, the special was a "prime" Rib for a good price if you get the package with the baked potato. Which is fine, but it may be on that day they use choice meat instead of prime to get a better margin for price and so they can sell more. That being said, I still ordered the full price prime rib, not the special. It still lacked in quality. Seemed very tough and full of connective tissue. Ordered medium rare. Alas it was Grisly. Which is indicative of lesser quality meat selection. Likely choice/select cuts, not true prime. I don't mind, but they are charging vegas quality restaurant prices but not in vegas. The quality needs to match. I don't understand the high reviews here because I gave this place 3 chances and this sadly was the third. I won't return ever again. You can get better quality if you just enjoy a drive to vegas. I thought it may have been a fluke but now I realize that is the norm there. There is some good but not worth a return. The asparagus and potatoes were cooked wonderfully. However, I don't go to a restaurant for their garnish dishes. I go for their proteins. We paid full price and I didn't bother to complain to the servers because it isn't their fault. I just won't come back. read more

This steakhouse is located inside The Harrah's Hotel/Casino along the river in Laughlin, Nevada. Reservations are usually a must for a Saturday night, but we arrived at 5pm, and were seated right away in a booth overlooking the river. Our waiter, Otto, was very friendly and helpful. We ordered the Shrimp Scampi with market veggies, and 10oz Prime Rib with the "atomic" h -- both entrees were very good, and the prime rib was cooked to my liking. Since I can't leave a 3.5 star review I bumped it to a 4 due to the staff. Good stuff first... Our server was accompanied by an assistant. I forgot their names but they were 10/10. Friendly, efficient, glass was never dry and they stayed on top of the table's needs without being intrusive to the romantic preconcert dinner that we had a time table for. Very, very good job. I don't know how many tables they covered but they made us feel like we were their only table. "Three onion soup" (French onion soup) and wedge salad. 10/10. Great bold flavor, very reasonably priced for the salad, I'll let the $11.95 (if I recall correctly) for soup slide because it was so good. While, $11.95 isn't bad at all, I'm probably being a little over critical of that particular point. The not so great... Lobster Mac n cheese was for some reason bitter. I had about four bites and that was enough for me. Was not great. However, if it is to your liking the price and size were phenomenal you could easily make that your whole meal. On the positive side, it was very creamy (which a lot of restaurants seem to struggle with), also it was a white Mac n cheese so visually it was a nice change from the norm. The NY strip... ugh. While it was cooked to temperature, an appropriate medium rare, if it was seasoned it was under seasoned. For a prime cut it lacked flavor, was too thin for my personal liking and frankly lacked personality. This is not a $70 steak which is what they charged. I would call this a $25 steak. The steak I make at home would blow this away. I'll pay $70 and upward for a quality steak this just wasn't it. My husband made a dinner reservation for me and my twins birthday. We were sat fairly quickly. We ordered salad, and crab cakes they came out pretty quick. Our server was a nice gentleman, came by often. But then after that we didnt see him. We waited and 40 min pass our order still not there, by time I was tired really wanted that steak. I highly recommend making a reservation because they get pretty busy on the weekend. The restaurant itself is pretty dated and is in need of upgrades. The view of the river is absolutely gorgeous though. The appetizer and salad prices are very reasonable however, the steaks are very overpriced given the location and quality. I started with a wedge salad, which was very good and very reasonably priced. My spouse had the soup which he liked. For my meal, I had the filet mignon. It was big and tasted good, but not worth the price. My spouse said the same thing about his ribeye. They do have a nice mocktail selection, which was very reasonably priced. Truly disappointing. Coming from SoCal, we're used to great steakhouses like Morton's, Mastro's, Eddie V's, Flemings, Houstons, and Ruth's Chris. With the prices on the menu at The Range, we had hoped for a comparable experience. Our visit to The Range was bad enough, we won't be going back. Ever. We started out with the Calamari, which was fine. We then ordered the Angus Filet Mignon and the Oscar style Medallions. I ordered my Filet medium rare and my wife ordered her Medallions medium. My Filet came out medium. I was disappointed but figured I'd deal with it. My wife's "Medallions" were a filet that had clearly been butterfly'ed and were well done. The server pushed back, saying they had not been butterfly'ed. We've been around a lot of steakhouses and know when a steak has been butterfly'ed. These "medallion" were as thin as a piece of carne asada. She opted to send it back. The Medallions this time came back medium rare. At that point, my wife and I switched steaks. For a place that claims to be a steakhouse, they were 0 for 3. The atmosphere was nice, but nothing special and a little dated. We were hoping for something special, especially at their prices, but left disappointed and won't be going back. read more

I'm not one to usually post reviews but we were truly disappointed. Today we did a last minute reservation about 4 hrs prior to arrival a reservation on Open Table at 6:15 pm. It turned out we were ready at 4:30 pm. My husband went to desk to ask if we could be seated earlier. No problem. We were thrilled with expectations of welcoming top service and an excellent steak. We have been coming here over three years for our wedding anniversary with wonderful welcoming staff who provided white tablecloth service with poise, welcoming attention and dishes cooked to perfection. Today was very different where we were seated in the "fish bowl" booth area in top level second floor booth thinking it would be a just the same. We were mistaken. The group who was seated after us in the booth next to us was well known clearly by all staff who stopped to chat with them and offered services we were not. Our server poured our wine and did not offer the attention we were used to wth checking back frequently about water or wine refills. Our wine bottle was presented without any top tier wine presentation around bottle and just left on table where I poured my own refills. The broccolini had only 4 small pieces. When asked about portion, the server stated they changed their portions and pricing to smaller portions as most of their older customers don't eat as much. We ordered a second portion and the assistant server gave me an unpleasant look and served the second dish which was definitely larger and more full in presentation with 5 stalks instead of 4 for $8.95. When mentioned to hostess about server not as welcoming, she came over to see where we were seated and then sat down in the other parties' booth to say hi to the group but not even a hello or smile to us. In closing, the server didn't verify with us the amounts of food credit for each card which were not correct. We didn't bother to bring this up as we just wanted to leave at this point. Not sure if we will return for our anniversary. Truly disappointed with our dining experience and hope other guests do not experience what we did today. read more

One of the better steakhouses in Laughlin, IMO. Service is always great and food delicious. On this occasion, I ordered the king crab legs with our usual rib eye steak. Both were delicious, but the crab turned out to be $190 for a lb. I guess I should have asked for the price first, but if you have to ask, you know the rest :) anyway, not worth almost $200, but delicious. We went for my birthday. Was hesitant to try the special. Prime rib, all you can eat for 39.99. (First order you do get a potato sidedish) Well, it was beyond my expectations. I had 5 orders, and each was a perfect med rare. I poured the au jus directly onto the plate and the meat along with straight horseradish. It was perfect. Ambiance was good. It is a shame that almost every table had their cellphones out. Can you not go to a nice dinner anymore without your cellphones people? What I found entertaining was, this man was at his table watching a movie on his phone, and then requested Heinz 57. Are you serious? The Range is hidden away in the northeast corner of Harrahs Casino, and it is by far one of the best steakhouses in Nevada. The views overlooking the River are spectacular, and the food is actually reasonably priced for a high end steakhouse. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the service was phenomenal. Beautiful restaurant inside the harrahs casino. This is the type of steakhouse you get the opportunity to dress up for. The "candle lit dinner" feel. Gorgeous views of the river, crispy table clothes and the atmosphere of class. Not like the Salt-Grass which had more of a Texas Roadhouse feel, this one offered a more intimate dining experience. It wasn't loud and overwhelmingly crowded with tables shoved against each other. We ordered the three onion soup to start with, $11-$12. It was incredibly tasty. Complimentary bread and whipped butter. We ordered a glass of Chardonnay and an old fashion, were under $11. The menu is small and that's a GREEN FLAG!!! That means they have their items down to perfection and the chefs know what they're doing. Always look for small menu places if you want your food on point. The filet mignon was tender and juicy at medium rare. The chicken marinade was beautifully cooked in the wine sauce and potatoes were silky and fluffy. To finish, we ordered the crème brûlée and it didn't disappoint. Our whole experience was less than $200 with tip. Our server was sweet, knowledgeable, attentive, and a breath of fresh air with his friendly and chit chatty attitude when we asked him our random questions about the area. One of the better steak houses in town. It's not Mastros or Even Ruth's Chris but the service is very good and the steaks are good and prepared very well! It's a busy place and they get you in and out. It's noisy but fun. Started with a Hendricks Martini and it was "good", nothing notable. Had a Caesar salad and Ribeye. A slice of prime rib (small portion) is $47. 4 steak dinners will run you well over $300 with NO sides included. Appetizers are small and prices again HIGH. Don't order 4 drinks or it will cost you around $40.00. Scampi tastes like a warmed up TV dinner. Lacks everything a Good Scampi should have. Hostess lacks warmth and compassion, she could care less. We arrived and were seated right away. A bit dim inside the restaurant for a romantic feel. Instead of ordering steak, we ordered seafood. Everything was delicious and perfectly made. We also ordered a bottle of Sauvignon blanc to pair with the seafood. Service was good and attentive. It's located in Harrahs Casino where we were staying at. The restrooms are located out in the Casino though. My husband was trying to use his $100 dining credit for being a Diamond but our waiter said it wasn't working for some reason. Service was very mediocre. Not the usual. Never asked how our meals were. Never offered coffee, dessert, or after dinner drinks. My husband got a gin and tonic when we got there that was just terrible. Tonic was totally flat. We told our waiter several times but he didn't offer to replace it. I attempted to make a dinner reservation by phone for this coming week, Wednesday. The call was answered by a call center, not the actual restaurant. After giving the representative all the information, I was told I had to guarantee the reservation with a credit or debit card. I was totally appalled I had to do this for a dinner reservation. I can understand a room reservation. Last month I made a reservation on line, but couldn't find a way to do that tonight. I was told that doing it on=line also required a guarantee. I cancelled the reservation. We will just show up. It's not like they will be overflowing with diners. Ordinarily I wouldn't eat there but I have a $100 anniversary dinner where I use my player's card to pay for the meal up to the $100 and anything over that I pay out of pocket. We went here New Year's Eve and began with a complimentary loaf of doughy White Bread and a Shrimp Cocktail that was a little watery. A metal container of Three Onion Soup and bowl of Lobster Bisque were very good, and a Wedge Salad with Bleu Cheese Dressing and Bleu Cheese Crumbles was excellent. I then enjoyed a medium-rare 8 oz. Angus Filet with a fine assortment of Sauteed Mushrooms and a Jumbo Baked Potato with Chives and Bacon, while Diane addressed two pleasing 7 oz. Lobster Tails and Wedge Potatoes that were okay. For dessert Diane and I shared an excellent Chocolate Ganache Cake with Ganache Cream, beautiful and tasty Chocolate Ganache Icing, and Vanilla Ice Cream. The service not only at the Range but at Harrah's in general has been great. From front desk staff, to bartenders, and dealers. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Including the staff at the Range! The staff was great!!! However, the food at the range was lack luster to say the least. Flavorless for the most part. Most of the presentation of food was superb, but flavor was not there. The chef met with us and recommended the chicken Madeira and the pork chop. Interesting because it is a steak house. The chicken was drowning in sauce and cheese (too much actually) the chicken was moist, but sauce and cheese made it very heavy. The pork was cool perfect, and the glaze on top was okay, but no flavors in the meat. Ordered the au gratin potatoes which when presented looked awesome, but when tasted, it lacked a little baked in salt and pepper, soaked in butter. No flavors. I also ordered the signature onion soup, which the chef was very proud as he said he made it from scratch and said it was homemade. The broth and onions were flavorful, the toasted Cristin was stale, as were the crispy onions on top. Not the best onion soup I've ever had. Neither of us finished more than half of our entrees and sides. And frankly, we had no desire to take any of it home. It is not the quality we look for in a "high-end" steak house. 1 Star My family and I dined at The Range Steakhouse on January 16th, and unfortunately it was one of the worst dining experiences we've ever had. I ordered the chicken entrée, and after cutting a piece for my 2-year-old child and taking a bite myself, we realized the chicken was pink and raw in the middle. This is not a minor issue--this is a serious food safety concern, especially when a child is involved. Within hours, both my child and I became extremely sick, experiencing severe stomach issues that lasted nearly an entire week. This was not a coincidence. What made this situation even worse was how it was handled afterward. I called multiple times trying to resolve the issue, not even aggressively--just looking for accountability. Instead, I was met with rudeness, dismissal, and essentially told it never happened. No concern, no empathy, no effort to make things right. Serving raw chicken is dangerous. Dismissing a family who became ill afterward is unacceptable. I expected much better from an establishment that presents itself as a high-end steakhouse. Sadly, due to both the food safety failure and the poor customer service, I will never return and would strongly caution others--especially families--to think twice before dining here. read more
