Don't understand the negative reviews. I've ordered from Sushi Tokyo many times as I work in the area, never sat down to eat but as far as customer service and foodwise, I think it's an amazing sushi place. The very first time I ordered in person the staff explained the menu and made excellent recommendations. Workers, manager, they were all helpful and nice. Since then I picked up a few times and ordered either online or over the phone for delivery in Far Rockaway. I don't even keep kosher, and kosher food is usually pretty expensive, but here I think they have fair prices. Food is amazing, very fresh and tasty. All my European friends who came to visit were impressed. When I get delivery I usually order the sushi platter (small or medium) which is amazing. You can pick the fish you want and vegetables even though I never order the vegetable rolls, fish only. And they have an amazing appetizer which is basically fried rice cake and tuna, spectacular. This is the second time I am ordering from them! and it is the second time they messed up my order. I am a pretty fair customer who does not usually give negative feedback, however this is beyond already. I order two roles, which said specifically that they have sushi in them, but they brought without. The other which is salmon, peace cream cheese and sea weed no sea weed was included , taste like the cream cheese is spoiled. they bring two extra roles cumber role and carrot role which I didn't even ask for, I don't care if you didn't charge me for it why put it on the order. I also ordered a salad , which had kani and cumber and fried salmon, again I did not ask for! I asked for sashimi salad did not get. Last I did not order a drink and get me a cola - I didn't want a cola.. Waste my time no more here .. hack read more

This place has awesome sushi and a great atmosphere for hanging out. Their delivery is convenient and consistently on time, and the staff is nothing short of impeccable. I especially love eating in, though, because I can pile on the spicy mayo, sweet sauce, and wasabi just the way I like it. HOWEVER, the sauce system for eating in has recently been amended so all sauce must be poured by the wait staff. This means I need to call someone over to get my "unreasonable" portions of sauces. Unacceptable. I want to shamefully apply my condiments without directly alerting others of my unusual tastes, and now that revelation is unavoidable. Not to mention the added social anxiety of being exposed before such an attractive wait team. I can't do it. I'd rather chug a bottle of everclear than risk such indecent exposure. Shame on you Sushi Tokyo. One star for you until the old system is renewed. read more

This is one of the worst restaurants I've been to in a long time. I've had multiple issues with sushi Tokyo. The service for one is not great, and the food is ok. But what really makes me furious is that most if not all the time I order for delivery they always seem to mess the order up. Once I ordered from them and the sushi tasted like soap. I struggled between 2 and 3 stars. OK, it's kosher - doesn't matter to me. The sushi was good - not great. The rice to fish ratio was bad. The service was a horror. I watched our order sit on the shelf while our entree backed up onto our appetizers - all served at once - all while the waitress was talking to other people and never once made eye contact. There was one good thing - a menu item - an appetizer: a blob of spicy tuna atop a small fried disk of rice. I'll try again sometime and re-review... but not until it gets warmer - BECAUSE THE PLACE WAS FREEZING !! read more

Awesome!! I have been waiting for good vegetarian sushi options for a long time and this one really takes the cake. I got a sweet potato/avocado tempura roll and the Gorgeous Roll and I was blown away. Quality was great, the tempura was warm and crispy, and everything was done promptly. I must start by saying that the food is consistently great. I will not however, be ordering online from them again. I placed an order for two party platters this morning, one at 10.07am and one at 11:36 am, to be picked up at 5:30 pm for a party about ten miles away. One would assume that ordering early would ensure a timely delivery. My husband suggested I call at 5:00 pm to make sure the orders would be ready at 5:30. I was told that the ticket for the order only prints at 5:15 and there's no way to have two platters ready by 5:30. I asked them to print the tickets and start getting the platters ready and they quibbled with me, repeatedly telling me that the platters would be ready between 5:30 and 5:40 which is obviously unacceptable, It does not state on the website that the order only prints fifteen minutes before pickup. Both young ladies with whom I spoke were condescending and unhelpful. The sushi is good, the service not good. Not going to be ordering from them again. As a walk-in customer perhaps, but no more parties for us. read more

For someone who is accustomed to eating sushi, I don't believe this will be well accepted. I can understand that the Kosher laws prevent sushi from being served the traditional way, but I didn't enjoy the taste nor texture of what I ate. I am glad that the experience is brought in some way to he community though. I also have to say that the service is a little off. Although food is very good, not pleased with delivery service. ST used to deliver to our location - we are a business in Valley Stream, about 15 minutest away - all the time, and now they have stopped. Our order was over $110. Poor business judgement. We've been going to sushi Tokyo Lawrence since the day they opened. David the manager of this establishment and his crew always made sure we leave satisfied. The price point of this establishment was just right for us to be here every week sometimes a few times a week. Our Son who is in school located near by would get his lunch from them at least once a week. We were away for one week and when we came back today, we were left in shock. Initially we thought that the restaurant chain had changed the management team. Prices went up by so much that it no longer makes sense for us to come here. We can go to a white tablecloth place for less money. And no, napkins on the table don't make up for the price increase. All the items that we were ordering are gone. Weired items that are not related to the Japanese cuisine ,not even in kosher interpretation found its way into this menu. What was the reason to fix something that worked well enough??? I was deeply disappointed with changes in menu at sushi tokyo. The new menu is horrible. HORRIBLE!!!! I used to go there for years. Most of the regular items were gone! Prices increased significantly as well! The restaurant was almost empty today! The team that facilitated these changes should be Fired! I would give it 0 stars with new changes but it's not an option! As for the owners, if you read this now, fire the people who came up with these changes and get at least part of the old menu back, because you are risking to be closed soon, which will be unfortunate because it used to be a very nice local sushi place. read more

The sushi here is comparatively good to other options in the area. The weekend manager, bigger guy slightly bald - really does not care about the customers. Acts as if he is selling stocks, pumping and dumping rolls on everyone. read more
