I've been going to Sushi Village for years. Well I stopped around 2018 after I kept finding these little white bugs buried under the edamame, as well as the rolls with avocado id order would have overly ripe avocados(they were half brown). I stopped going for years after that, I was just way too grossed out until I went back there in April 2022. It looks like the standards have changed and the food overall looked better, tasted better and the little food delivery robot is such a nice touch. I rate 4 stars now because of the changes they've made, there are things they still need to work on.

We came in at around 2 in the afternoon, so there was little activity going on. The setting was an attempt to be modish, but it ends up being lackluster in theme. Mandopop was playing in the background; makes sense, given that the staff were communicating in Mandarin. Service was simply disappointing. Even at off-peak hours, they managed to miss some items from my friend's order. In addition, I received my appetizers (edamame and seafood soup) after I finished most of my rolls. This detracted from my experience there quite significantly. In terms of food, I ordered: - A bowl of edamame; - Seafood soup; - 1 shrimp tempura; - 2 unagi hand rolls; - 12 dynamite maki rolls; - 6 salmon and avocado maki rolls; and - 6 "crunchy" mango banana rolls. The name of the game is freshness. Some of the edamame pods appeared to be brown. The salmon in the maki rolls did not look fresh at all. The quality of sushi rolling needs significant improvement; the rice from the rolls just seemed to be "flaking" off whenever I contacted it. The dessert rolls seem to be pressed into its shape, without even being rolled. Should you decide to eat here (heaven forbid), be aware of the 10 percent service fee on top of the taxed price. We were not aware of this charge. I didn't leave a tip.

I've been here on multiple occasions - I guess because of their location is so convenient. They have all-you-can-eat option and you can also order every item separately. The menu has a lot of options besides sushi so if you are not a sushi fan - you will still have plenty of choice. Their ramen is not the best so I would not recommend it. The sushi tastes good and is usually fresh but their sizes are minuscule - it is a fair deal only if you opt for all-you-can-eat (note that the prices vary depending on the days of the week and dinner is more expensive). The food overall is ok - nothing special but not too bad. Other things to note is that there is shortage of employees even when it is not busy and the food takes quite long to be served compared to other sushi places.

On EASTER Monday 2020 and in quarantine due to the Corona virus I decided to order some sushi from a nearby restaurant. Even though the neighbourhood is a little seedy I figured(wrongly) that the food would have to be good in order for them to survive . So I ordered nearly $50.00 worth of sushi for lunch. I got very prompt and courteous service from UBEREATS's driver, but the rest of the experience was UNDERWHELMING. First of all most of the order was wrong as well as you can see by the photo the presentation was awful and the food was just seedy neighbourhood slightly better. Luckily UBEREATS gave me a very quick refund. There is,however, a lump in my stomach from the terrible food.I should have read the reviews on yelp before ordering.

This is probably the worst AYCE sushi buffet. Salmon is totally not fresh (the colour showed that the fish has been left for 2 days). The hot plates take forever and when it came and it's not cooked. The service was 1/5, it takes forever for food To come and forever for them to refill tea I would not recommend this restaurant at all. The Washroom smells terrible. Overall, I wish I had gone to Tim Hortons for a cup of coffee and donuts. At least, its fresh.

Half sized sushi rolls 3 on this platter should have been the size of the large 6

I have been ordering from and going to this place for some time now and every time there is a different issue but I've always been willing to give it another chance. I've had the 10% service charge added to my bill. Which I have no problem with but it would of been nice to know since we tipped an extra 20% on the bill despite the fact that the service was garbage and we were asked not to use the washroom for the rest of the night because it was just cleaned. While ordering take out several times I have been shorted on the amount of sashimi pieces I'm supposed to receive and when you mention this they say it's an error on the website and that we were given the right amount. I've also been shorted on the amount of rolls I'm supposed to receive. Order a roll that should have 6 to it and only get 4. Tonight's order the rolls are about half the size they should be... big rolls have been condensed into these tiny little things and some barely have any content to them. One tuna roll is literally just rice. I have had my fill of disappointing experiences here. This place is not worth the time or the money. The picture attached shows the normal size that 3 of the rolls on the big platter should have been.

Horrible chicken, edamame over done. Chicken teriyaki the worst, no veggies included. Miso okay.

Service was fast, but seafood content in each roll probably only 10%, tempura overcooked and hours later I swear I still smell grease.

If you want to have dinner with large crowd, you might want to reconsider. The staff members were super friendly and welcoming. I did notice the place was more of "take out" place, as lot of folks came in to pick up their food. We wrote down our food items on the piece of paper that was provided and gave it to the staff. The food came out slow, even with three tables being occupied, so give yourself enough time to eat, aka - pace yourself :) While the dim sum was decent, nothing too special to write home about. The one complaint we had was the D7 Shang hai pork dumpling, when we picked it up, it felt apart, which shouldn't happen if made to order. One I can understand, but when this happens to all six pieces, then it's a different story.... definitely was premade, frozen and reheated unfortunately. I get that's necessary when they are busy, but I wish they would make set amount and if you run out, then you are out for the day, but oh well. The beef and bean sprouts with rice noodles were decent, unfortunately the rice noodles also fell apart as you picked it up. As I stated, the food came out in stages, so pace yourself.... the staff were friendly and attentive, if we asked for more tea, it was refilled. Definitely worth trying, as this place came up as one of the must try in Ottawa during my research. Street parking, parked in front of the store, parking is free on the weekend, 2 hour max between 7am to 7pm, just keep that in mind.

This review is only for their BBQ pork buns…read more I love steamed BBQ pork buns and really miss the ones I used to get at the bakeries in Chinatown in Toronto, so I was thrilled when I was flipping through UberEats for deals and found some that were BOGO (buy one get one free) at Ha's Dim Sum House. They were 3 for $6.25, so I got 6 for that price (note that the regular price in-store is 3 for $5.75). Overall, they were ok, but some pork pieces were really fatty. They were also rather small and had very little filling, but I guess I can't expect too much for the price, lol. The Bao bun was soft and fluffy and the filling was flavourful without being too salty. I picked up my order and it was ready really quickly. Like less than 10 minutes. Pickup was equally efficient. When I was there (July 2023) they were takeout only, no dine-in services. This space used to be Yimin Dim Sum House (which moved to Kent St before moving back to Somerset St a bit east of this location) and before that it was Hung Sum Restaurant (which closed down, then moved further west on Somerset St, then closed down again). I've never actually dined-in at this restaurant, but it's in a converted house and is rather small. Street parking only.

We ordered the Peking Duck and while expensive at 88 dollars it was enough for a meal for the two of us. It felt elegant and of very high quality. I've had Peking duck a few times and no where near as good as this. In any case, this was our favorite Chinese place after 4 months living in Ottawa.
