I am so glad to have found Mikayla and Sustain! Since I am autistic, I have a ton of sensory sensitivities. I am very tender headed and have very thick hair...this equals a perfect client, right?! Mikayla was so kind and gentle with my hair, very friendly, and didn't hesitate to accommodate my needs or address my concerns. Since the salon is open, bright, and clean, I had no sensory issues. Mazey has been my hairstylist of choice for about ten years now. She did my hair for my wedding (it was wonderful, I felt beautiful) and I go to her for all of my haircuts and colors. There was a period of time when I moved away where I was truly without a steady hairstylist that worked for me despite going to all of the most highly recommended options in my area at the time. I'm both picky with my hair and not one for conventional cuts, which makes finding a stylist a bit of a chore. Luckily, I can stop looking, because Billy is fantastic! She's professional, friendly, and really took the time to make sure the shag cut I wanted worked well with my curly hair and complimented my face shape, and even gave me styling tips. I'm not joking when I say this is one of the best cuts I've had in my life, it looks amazing. I'll definitely be back! I never really stayed with one salon until getting my hair done by Mazey at Sustain Salon. She always does a great job, and the atmosphere is open earthy clean. I've wanted some styles that could be really damaging for my hair, some stylist would just do it for the check but Mazey not only takes the time to tell you why it's not best but also takes the time to explain the technical side of it. She explains why it will be damaging, the upkeep and just keeps it real with you. They use awesome products and just have a really chill vibe all and all. Really appreciate this salon! read more

On a snowy day in February, I was debated canceling my appointment for a haircut since I had to drive a little way and it was a new salon for me. My appt was for late in the afternoon, but since some folks had canceled due to the weather, Mazey asked if I wanted to move my appt up. What the heck?, I thought. Off work and I needed a cut bad. I have been going to Mazey for six years now. Since I have moved back and forth from Arkansas, I have gone to some other hairstylists and NONE OF THEM have been as good as her. I call her "hair wizard" because she makes MAGIC. I literally drive two hours to see her. And, if I'm ever ridiculously wealthy and living in Iceland, I will fly her out to me. That's how good. Mazey did an amazing job coloring my hair! I got a golden blonde balayage and she put many beautiful tones in there that brought out the blonde and still honored my natural hair color for a low maintenance style. It looks gorgeous! Throughout the appointment I also learned so much about hair health and things I didn't know before about styling and coloring. This salon is super chill and every stylist is very welcoming and talented! I came to see Mazey after I had done a bad DIY color job on myself and was in desperate need of an overhaul. She was able to fix me up like it had never happened and left my hair in better condition than before. I'm telling ya it was a miracle y'all! I've been going to Sustain since it opened. The owner is fantastic and employs dependable and talented hair stylists. It's cozy inside and very welcoming. Plus it's very clean. The music isn't blaring so you can actually have a conversation with your stylist. Everyone is friendly and none of the stylists look miserable.
