I have really come to appreciate Sutherlands inLa Grange. A lot of their prices are a little high, but once you get to know the store, you know which items are a really good deal. We always go there to get our first round of flowers in the spring, and this year was no exception. I was disappointed the prices went up and are now the same as Walmart, but the quality just seems so much better. They have specials throughout the year and I always take advantage of those. We bought some 2x6x16 from Sutherlands. The warped and twisted. And I mean the twist were near 90 degrees. It was a Saterday and we were buying 2 boards as to R&R the bad ones (many others warped but not as bad). I told the MOD about them and before I could tell her how bad they were she said that boards will warp. Yep boards will warp, however do not think customers are a fool and do not know what normal warping is and what is so bad that it pull the hangers loose I wrote Corporate and got no respond. Then I called the office an the manager of the La Grange store then wrote me this email Hello Mr. *****. We did get your email about the 2x6x16 you had purchased. I am sorry and there may be some misunderstanding about this. When you talked to the ladies at the front desk they asked you when you bought the boards and you were not sure. The boards you brought in that day had no paint on the ends. All of our boards are color coded and have been for over 2 years. Our return policy is 30 days with receipt. We need proof of purchase in order to do a return or exchange and would have to be within the 30 day window. We try to help everyone we can with looking up receipts but we need the customers to offer more info. Being that you have no receipt or when the time of purchase and the boards do not have paint on the ends it may be possible they were purchased elsewhere. I buy from different places myself and I have made a mistake of thinking I bought from one place and it happen to be somewhere else. We would love to help but we need a proof of purchase. I can go over the 30 days but we have to make sure the boards were purchased here. Hope you understand. I asked because I was buying boards to replace them and did not want to remove them till I had a board to put in their pace. I was going to buy and return for credit They NEVER asked where I bought the boards, and I am 120% sure I bought then at Southland. To pick up boards that long I have to hook up my 25 foot gooseneck, and I do not run all over the country with it. As for a receipt, itnever got that far. I have a bookkeeper that I send a scan of EVERY receipt to and can get a copy....Again it did not get past me being told that boards will warp and she did not let me tell her how bad they were warped..I was a fool for talking about warped boards. As for the boards having paint as marks ...Again it did not get that far...However they have paint on their ends (see photos) Again the MIC a AND the manager think people are fools. Just because they cannot remember where they buy things do not mean other are as ABSENTMINDED as they are I wrote back to S**** M****** making the points, and have not heard a word. So I call Corporate and got the runaround as well. Well Sutherlands did me as a customer wrong. Not so much about the boards and their cost , however the way they treated me as a customer. Mr. Gary (I think he's a manager) is awesome and helped in setting up our business' in-house charge account here. It was so great once established because they have a lot more than the other local hardware stores do on most items. I just wish they were open later on weekends. The store hours just don't make much sense to me, but that's corporate's doing, I'm assuming. Overall I enjoy shopping here and usually buy more than I intended. They have a nice selection at competitive prices. read more

Purchased a Chainsaw that did NOT work, right out of the box. They would not take it back. They said, I had to take to a Shop and have them fix it. So now, I'm out the money of the saw, the fuel I purchased, the oil I purchased, a spark plug I purchased in case that's what was wrong with it and now they want me to PAY to get it fixed!!! What a scam! Should they not have a notice that say, not returnable? If they had had a sign, I never would have taken the chance and purchased it. I'm out $300+ and I have no Chainsaw. Shame on them, they know they can return to their Dealer, what is the customer suppose to do with no option but to fork out more money?? Never shopping at their store again! read more
