They remodeled my floors, demo'd some walls, did a full paint job, hardwired & installed new lighting, built new walls with custom shelving inside the walls, created arched doorways, installed wallpaper on the ceilings, built & tiled a custom desk, and so much more. My landlord wouldn't let us demo the floors, so Carlos came up with a creative solution of laying new flooring on top of the old so we didn't have to demo. Every obstacle that came up, the guys were able to work around it and still do all the things I wanted to do with the space. I am very embarrassed that I have to write this review which could have been prevented if I did…read moremore work screening a contractor. Let me explain. I researched contractors on Yelp and found one that I wanted to hire. I clicked the button to request a consultation and Carlos called me right away. He had good sales skills and offered to come to look at my bathroom remodel project the same day. It turns out that when I submitted a request for a consultation it went to many businesses, not only the one that I was interested in. I finally realized that this was a different business. I looked at William S' review and decided to give them a chance. The business started in January 2022, yet the review that I read stated that they had two bathrooms, a gigantic kitchen, a brand new ADU unit, and 7 televisions in the course of the 3 months since the contractors license was obtained. I later found out that William S is a Mendi Builders employee and that it is a fake review. But I took the bait. I was desperate to get the bathrooms working and planned to be out of town for a week. Despite the vague and expensive proposal Carlos created, I gave him money to begin our project because of his availability and promise to work while I was out of town. In retrospect this was such a bad idea. The very first day that the team came to demo the home they forgot to cap the water underneath the vanity. They left water dripping on a Friday night and had no plans to return until Monday. Fortunately, my son came home and heard the dripping and stopped the leak and bailed out the bathroom. From that day forward every single thing that they touched was a disaster. Broken Tile: I had some special tile installed by an old friend who is no longer working that I asked him to protect. He destroyed that tile and did not alert me or attempt to repair it, instead he tried to conceal it. Plumbing: He changed a plumbing valve and left a huge glob of some sort of wax inside the pipe which was only discovered by the plumber that I had to hire to redo all of Carlos' work. In addition, they were so sloppy that they punched a hole in the wall behind the shower and into my family room. Mess Containment: Construction is always messy and Carlos promised to use plastic sheeting to contain the mess when doing drywall work. Instead of protecting my home, his team took a huge fan out of my garage and blew the construction debris into my family room and garage. This bathroom contained an exterior wall and Mendi employees started installing the drywall without adding insulation to the wall. In addition the workers made no attempt whatsoever to clean up any of their messes and left debris on my roof, throughout my home and garage, and even threw their drink containers in my garden. Their employee drove over a retaining wall and left it down in my driveway. Safety: Mendi removed two toilets there was no attempt to seal off the septic system and the home reeked of sewage. Sewage gasses are not only disgusting, they are dangerous. Mendi switched out a bedroom fan and did not clean up any of the debris. They let a bowl full of screws fall 8 feet down onto the new flooring in my son's room, which he stepped on. They also turned off all circuit breakers in the home and failed to turn all of them back on, so when I returned from my trip there was only one functioning toilet in the home, but the bathroom had no electricity for two days. When I fired Mendi I incurred many expenses and it cost me thousands of dollars to repair the damage they caused. It is hard for me to believe that Mendi was able to obtain a contractor's license. The amateur staff was unsupervised and clearly did not follow best practices of the trade. They worked their butts off pulling the old out, pulling out roots that had gotten under the old driveway, and putting in a bunch of rebar. They did a great job matching up to the older driveway sections (large circular driveway). I've been driving on it now for about a week and it looks great and came out really nice looking. Got ~ 3-4 quotes and they were reasonable on their quote after some discussion. Would recomend them. Getting additional quotes from them on other work since they're an all-around GC.

I reached out to Oscar to confirm time and we had an appointment set. Prior to the job I even reached out via text with additional questions which he responded to quickly while I was still at Lowes! At the end of the job I asked for a quote to paint the rest of my living room/entry way and was told I would hear back on an available date soon. However, recently I contacted him because I had work for him. He also recommended a so called professional cabinet installer. Alex and I agreed to an appointment time for a bid in advance and he never showed up and never called. I tried contacting him for a week after and he never answered his phone, emails, or texts. I thought something happened to him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. Come to find out he was getting my messages all along. The cabinet installer, (professional???), that he recommended was a hack that gave me a bid via email that just said a number, 1500$, and nothing else as to the scope of the work. The cabinet guy said he had to charge more for installing because he had to pay a percent to the guy who the license belonged to. Which is illegal, period!! It makes you wonder if the dummy cabinet guy was borrowing Alex's license. Alex is a disrespectful unreliable idiot. Do not trust anything Alex says! The guys he says are professional are mommy's basement boys! Alex wasn't respectful enough or man enough to answer his phone or messages. He just ignored all communication. Two years later I hired him again for another wood staining project. This is when the nightmare began. I was told it would take two weeks. It's been three months, the quality of work is terrible, they damaged my 100 year old historical wooden beams, they show up about 25% of the time and the owner never comes to check the work and just demands money. When I finally got the owner to come by the house, he agreed with me that the work done was absolutely horrendous and that he personally would be coming over for the next couple of weeks to fix and finalize my project. He then told me that he got sick, and he would reach out after he was feeling better, and I have never heard from him since. I've called, texted, reached out every way I can. It's been four weeks with no response . I reached out to one of his workers and the worker confirmed that he was never sick. This man owes me $14,000!!!!!!!! BEWARE!
