The doctors I have seen have been pretty good with one going above and beyond to diagnose the issue, which I really appreciate. The ER itself is ok but they really need more space here. There has never been a time when I have come where it hasn't been fairly crowded and I hate that injured people are made to wait with sick people making it possible that they will get sick as well. There should be a better triage and placement system in the waiting area but they honestly just don't have the room for that at this location. The waits can be pretty long as well. I have also had to come to the administrative section of the hospital to retrieve records on a few occasions. Once, the specialist office I was referred to after an ER visit called me the evening before my appointment (which had been scheduled MONTHS out) and said I needed a rush on scans because the other location didn't bother to do their job and request them. Otherwise, I would have had to push the appointment back months again. I had to spend all morning at the records department here and although it normally takes a few weeks, a staff member was willing to help me, which they didn't have to do, and I waited while he burned everything onto a cd for me, which was very nice. Overall I think this is a good hospital and most of the staff really are trying their best. The one star reviews left by people because one person disrespected or annoyed them are silly imo. I know the situations that bring you here are very serious and emotional but we should all try and have some grace. I have had an experience with a bad male nurse, watching his maga news and being dismissive of women's pain as well as a scary experience where a female nurse started to cut into my hand before checking that the anesthetic had taken effect. People are different and we all make mistakes but overall health professionals do care and they are under a lot of stress so I really believe that in the scheme of things, this hospital deserves a better rating.

I was very impressed with the organization of the staff and care. Everyone was busy and professional. They all just did their jobs and nobody was complaining or looking unhappy. It took a little while for the exam and stitches and discharge and they apologized for the amount of time. I felt that even though my injury was an emergency, I was treated in an appropriate time frame and I'm sure there were way worst illnesses and injuries than mine. I received messages to make sure I had follow up care which I had already arranged with my primary doctor. Although I certainly hope I will have no reason for a return ER visit, it was a positive experience.

Nurse Arnold had a great sense of humor and genuinely tried to soften the blow of a long wait. Dr. Lavelle and the rest of the medical team kept me informed as test results came in, which I appreciated. That said, the quality of care after the decision to admit was extremely disappointing. Being left on a hard, outdated gurney for over 10 hours while waiting for a bed is unacceptable. I have worked in hospitals across the Southeast, the Midwest, and now California, and this was by far the worst experience I've had in this regard. What made it worse was the lack of communication. Hospitals use admissions boards and can provide at least an estimated wait time, yet no one offered updates or acknowledged the delay. Being left in the dark for hours isn't just frustrating--it feels dismissive and rude. Now let's talk about Area 3N (CDU). First, kudos to the staff who work there under these conditions. Dani and the noc shift, as well as Tigen and the day shift, were outstanding--professional, compassionate, and genuinely comforting to patients. They deserve recognition for doing the best they can in a very challenging environment. The EGD Team was also excellent. The music in the procedure room was a thoughtful touch--before the first beat of classic rock finished, I was already out. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of this unit is appalling. I checked in at 7:00 p.m., and the first time I saw housekeeping was 2:30 p.m. the following day. Patients are placed in a large shared space, with more than 10 people sharing a single bathroom that was not kept clean overnight. However, serious HIPAA violations occurred in Area 3N. Patients are housed in a large, open shared space with thin partitions. Throughout the night and following day, I could clearly hear full patient names, diagnoses, test results, treatment plans, and physician-patient conversations from surrounding cubicles. Doctors conducted bedside discussions containing protected health information in full earshot of other patients and visitors. I'm tired of hearing "short staffing" used as an explanation. Patients deserve dignity, communication, privacy, basic cleanliness, and a safe environment. The frontline staff are doing their best, but the system fails patients once admission is decided. This is not the level of care the public should be expected to accept.
