I'll cut to the chase and tell you it was surprisingly accurate, and within the margin of error, although Dexa is the "gold standard." I won't bore you with the metrics but I will bore you with the experience. First off, the location for the mobile service has ample parking and was conveniently located. The mobile van was clean, the technician - Suhban Khan was very professional and knowledgeable. Like myself, he was also a fitness coach and had solid knowledge not only with Dexa but also the leading body composition measurement devices on the market and smart scales. We had a good chat and I interviewed him briefly for the YouTube channel. You just wear light, loose clothing and lay back, while the scanner passes from your head to your feet. It moves a fraction every 30 seconds. No. For most people seeking general health I would recommend getting the good habits of proper nutrition, exercise and proper rest before worrying about getting a Dexa but...it will help keep you accountable to your goals and honestly, the subscription service is pretty affordable. The door was still locked, but a kind patient opened it for us and let us in. The front desk staff was friendly, and the check-in process was quick and efficient. Even though my mom's appointment was scheduled for later, the ultrasound technician called her in around 7:15 AM and finished the exam by 7:30 AM. The ultrasound technician was professional, friendly, and explained everything clearly while giving easy-to-follow instructions throughout the procedure. That and their customer support team (email and phone) is VERY slow / unresponsive and a 180 from the warmth and professionalism of the techs in Union St!

The office is really clean, I was checked in immediately and only waited 5 min before they called me in for my MRI. Nothing about this place seemed dirty or neglected, which is what I was expecting. It felt as sterile as my Xray place at UCSF Parnassus. I came here because I had to jump through hoops with my insurance company to get an MRI and Simon Med offered through different insurance an MRI that was less expensive out of pocket. I filled out the check in form online before the appointment so my arrival and check in process was seamless. Staff was friendly and professional. I even got my results within 24 hours. UCSF took a whole week to give me my xray results back, and that's after I had to follow up with them. I would definitely recommend SimonMed to others if you need an MRI.

When the test was done she called for a radiologist to make sure the images were good, in case any images in the sequence needed to be re-done. But after waiting in the machine for awhile they told me they couldn't get ahold of a radiologist. They said I would get the results within a week but I am still waiting on them. I called the phone number I found online to inquire about delayed results (Radiologist Reading Room), and the staff member I spoke to was very nice but I am still waiting....and hoping the MRI images were actually clear enough to be helpful. So far it has been 10 days and still the radiologist has not read the report I was told. Ugh.

I had to take the elevator to the floor 2 for Simon Med. There wasn't really any signage on the first floor so I was a bit confused as to where to go but I realized the address is suite 200 so I decided to go to the 2nd floor. The actual process from checking in to the procedure was actually not that bad for me. I got checked in relatively quickly, didn't have to wait too long, and the entire procedure was maybe 45 minutes or so. The techs I had were a bit terse but friendly enough. HOWEVER I don't know why but literally everyone before me and after me had so many complications at the front desk. I saw things like they were supposed to call the patient to reschedule but for some reason it didn't happen, so the patient had to reschedule. One person's insurance authorization didn't go through. One person was on the phone almost the entire time I was in the lobby trying to ... sort things out. When I was leaving another person was yelling at the front desk saying, "Please don't treat me like I'm stupid!" What? Well anyway I hope your visit goes relatively painless and hope that it's not being too bottle necked by cases at the front desk.

I was getting nowhere with her and obviously had to get the imaging done so I just had to suck it up. Never did she offer any info on how to contact billing until I asked. Next was the imaging order. Not sure why they don't have it already but I only have an electronic copy. So I mentioned that and asked if I can email it. Again she acted all snobby and acted as if I was asking the most obvious question. As if I knew the answer already on where to email it to vs uploading it into my user portal. As I was waiting, I noticed this terrible attitude given towards other check in patients. Everyone received that cold, snobby attitude. So I guess it was nice that I wasn't targeted, but she really should not be there if she has such a terrible attitude. Although I had an appointment, they weren't on time but at least this tech has way better manners. However, no one told me during the appointment booking or when I was confirming my appointment to come in without emptying my bladder and it was to be done right before imaging. Seems such important info if it was that critical for imaging, should really be known to patients beforehand. So guess what. I awkwardly tried to sit on the toilet trying to pee for a period of time cause every normal person goes at home before leaving the house. As I was finally done with my appointment. I noticed they changed people at the check in counter. This other girl seems way nicer and more patient with those checking in regardless if they are able to communicate or not due to a language barrier.

This review isn't for the service so much as the cost. $2000 per vaginal pregnancy ultrasound, when…read morethe national average hovers around $500. I moved to SF and found out I was pregnant. I was about 8 weeks and didn't have a doctor here, so my doctor in Chicago referred me to this center for an ultrasound. I called to see if they accepted my insurance, and they said they did. On the first visit, we didn't hear a heart beat, so naturally scheduled a follow-up for the following week, at which time we did hear one. On both visits, we did not see a doctor, just the technician, who performed the vaginal ultrasound and did not give us much information. She said she would give updates to my doctor in Chicago, who then called us with information. We switched insurance right after, due to the move and new job, and I found an OB here. At the same time, I got the bill from UCSF--$2K per ultrasound, for a total of $4K. The ultrasound had a bunch of tacked on costs, like doctor's fee (I'm guessing the tech showed it to a doctor there), facility fee, etc. Insurance said they would only cover half of each, so we're paying $2K out of pocket. To make it worse, USCF doesn't have an automated monthly billing option, so I have to log in every month which reminds me (hence this review--I just made a payment!). When we went to my first OB visit, he was going to perform an ultrasound, but I hesitated and asked how much it would cost. He said even if insurance didn't cover it, the cost would be about $300. (Insurance did cover it). This is mostly FYI for those of you that may be going there for a basic ultrasound or something, to know about the additional fees that get tacked on, which your insurance may decide not to cover. We would have been better off going to a doctor's office or something without insurance and paying out of pocket, rather than a research hospital/facility that has a lot of additional fees.
