Thai hit in the Kearney area! Was not expecting to have some of the best Thai in Nebraska here. Didn't catch our servers name but he was flying around attending everyone with such kindness. Stating water is the source of life and genuinely kept every water glass filled in the summer heat. Lovely server! I had the lemongrass pork, which had some of the freshest lemongrass and juicy pork I've ever had in a Thai dish. Flavor in every bite, with bell pepper and cucumber. A refreshing and satisfying blend in each bite. As a pineapple fan myself, I was very pleased by the fresh slice on nearly every plate. The next outstanding dish was the Thai puffs. Thick flakey pastry, evenly filled with veggies and moist chicken. Served with a home made sweet and sour sauce, which was a bit runnier in texture but so much fresher in flavor! Love to see a freshly made sauce. They have curtains across the front glass, which threw me off but they have an open sign. Come on in during their lunch or dinner hours. A lovely restaurant, easily found not far from I-80. My husband loved the pork panang curry which had just a touch of heat. I found the Thai Puffs excellent - the crust was crispy and the filling very tasty. We both had left-overs. If we lived around here, we would be returning. read more

Our first time dining here after hearing and reading so many good reviews. We weren't disappointed! We arrived right at 5pm when they just opened and were seated immediately. The restaurant is spotless and the wait staff super friendly and cheerful. We started with the Silver Bags and chicken dumpling appetizer. Both were delicious but the Silver Bags (a crab rangoon-type dish) were exceptional. We ordered a variety of entrees to try. The Panang chicken curry was perfectly spicy and very flavorful with lots of complexity. The chicken Pad Thai was perfect and the Crispy Chicken was tender and definitely crispy in a very tasty sauce. It was an excellent experience in the bright and tastefully decorated dining room. I always order one of the curries, I had the Red Curry, it was delicious. I've had the Penang and it was super too. Haven't gotten the spicy one as was worried it might be too hot for me; need to try it in the future. we also had their Spring Rolls, they were great, too!! Arrive early for lunch, they open 11; we arrived around 11:15 and were promptly seated. The restaurant fills up fast. Anyone arriving around noon will probably wait for a table. Worst Thai food I have ever had. Everything was too sweet when Thai food should be spicy, tangy, sour, lemongrass-y, and savory. Although we didn't take a picture of the food because we were starving all the pictures on here are exactly how it looks in real life: pale, wet, unflavorful. Note that we were starving because we also waited almost 50 minutes for our food. Our water even took about 15 minutes to come to us. Pad Thai was way too sweet, wet, and not tangy that it's supposed to look like. Sure it had flavor, but it was mainly sweet, which it SHOULD NOT BE. Drunken noodles was not spicy at all, and it was wet. It was just funky and not tasty. The pad woosen was the only decent thing because it is meant to be a simple flavored dish. Not that sweet, so I'd guess this was decent. Tom yum soup was also sweet. Sure it had a little tang from the lemon grass but it was SWEET. Also, we asked for a side of hot sauce, and they gave us salsa. Legit it was salsa. We asked if they had the Thai chili sauce, but the servers seemed confused on what that was. It's like the chefs here never heard of Thai food. The only good thing here was the plain white rice. At least they didn't mess that part up. The inside was too dark and dreary because they close the curtains. It was kind of depressing but it was still a clean place. I do not recommend this place at all. Let me start by saying the staff could not have been nicer or friendlier. We were warmly welcomed and treated with fast service. We ordered three dishes and all of them had an overly sweet component to them. The green papaya salad was crispy and fresh but I got no heat even though this was marked as a spicy dish. Pad Thai with duck, again sweet notes with no lime to lend an acidic note to the flavor profile. And the drunken noodles had actual sugar crystals in them that I stumbled across. I happened to be in Kearney and so it was really nice that something here was available other than your usual standard fare or chain restaurants that you may find in towns. I went at an odd late lunch hour so not many people in the restaurant which is nice because it made for a calm meal. Environment is nice and service is kind. I had an appetizer of spring rolls and a tofu panang curry. It was enjoyable. It wasn't necessarily the greatest Thai food I've ever had but for being in Kearney and near the university it was a great touch that this is even present and tastes quite good. I'd suggest anyone in the area to check out Suwannee! Far better any unique than any other options a Google search of Kearney can provide. read more

Tremendous disappointment after having gotten strong recommendations. We were visiting with our 13 month old granddaughter and stopped by to ask if 5 PM would be a low traffic time to visit. They said that would be great. We got there a little after 5 and were rapidly seated. We then sat there for 10-12 minutes with absolutely no contact from the wait staff. Finally I went back to the wait station to ask if we should just leave. They advised us to stay and said they'd be right out. It took another 5 or so minutes before we got water and our orders were taken. The appetizers then took 10 more minutes before we had something for the little one eat beyond what we brought for her. In the next 15 minutes our four orders were delivered in stages. The Pad Thai which should have been the fastest was the last. They needed extra time to make it awful. The portions on the meals were small and none were outstanding. Finally our kids had to take the little one out at the 80 or 90 minute mark. All in all we were out almost 2 hours and $100 for a meal that was so so at best. The people that had ordered online or by phone were all around the lobby waiting ages for their meals. Excellent food and super clean establishment. Great service and very clean restrooms too. We had Pad Thai, Beef Pho, and Salmon Curry. All three were as good or better than any we've had. Perfectly prepared and seasoned. I definitely recommend any of these three entrees. The only thing that wasn't perfect were the Spring Rolls. They were made with tofu instead of shrimp and the sauce is not the super good creamy peanut sauce that we are used to, but more of a sweet, thin sauce. Not our favorite. Went for lunch this week. Beat the lunch rush by 10 minutes which made a difference if you are in a rush. Excellent tasting food. Had the Pad Thai with shrimp. Simple excellent. Savory flavors and ordered it medium to get a little kick of spicy. Was just right. Guest in town who isn't a big Chinese food lover got the drunken noodles and enjoyed his meal.
