For about six months we worked on strengthening back, shoulder, and neck muscles, all exercises I could have easily done at home. They don't even Not once in the six months did they reassess my symptoms, they barely assessed them in the first place. After the initial assessment, my appointments consisted of coming in and guiding my own workout. staff barely said a word to me while I was there, and only intervened to increase the weight. 9 exercises, 3 times a week, casually supervised by staff that doesn't even check if it's working. I've had worse, but I've also had much better.

When Amy returned she accused me of being a PT addict and didn't like that her sub was doing hands on work to relieve my spasms in my back. She suggested meditation as if my pain was all in my head and I just needed to relax. An MRI soon after revealed I had a herniated ruptured disc fragment that was pressed on my spinal cord causing all my pain and I needed surgery. I am now with a highly competent PT and doing well. I had a friend tell me she was going to Amy for treatment and was concerned but she said Amy was the only PT she could get in with, all the others were booked. Of course, because she not booked because she is no good. My doctor who had referred other patients based on my good reports of her sub said all his patients left after Amy returned. I would call it horrible care except that it wasn't even care, it was just horrible.

This is about Sydney. I was refered to Bay Physical Therapy for pain which increased when I swam (usually 1.5 miles, three times a week), and during sex. I understand that the topic of sex can make people uncomfortable, but it is an important quality of life issue, and my doctor was so reasonable with his "yes, if this is impacting your ability to have sex, that is an important thing and I want to help you solve this, while the therapist I saw seemed really uncomfortable with the idea that I want to have sex that doesn't leave me in pain for days. I recognize that recent grads are going to have limited experience, but I felt my needs were very much beyond her skill levels. It happened that most of the other patients that I saw her treating were ones who were seniors who are rehabbing from surgery. I'm an athletic middle-aged person and she really didn't seem to understand that that is different from someone who just had their knee rebuilt and wants to be able to walk across a room with minimal assistance. I felt like she really had no clue and no skill. When I eventually grew too frustrated with her lack of attention, I said I was done and that I was leaving. She was confused. I said that working with her was a waste of her time and mine. When I left, I canceled all my remaining appointments, and the receptionist asked why, and I said I was unwilling to work with Sydney. While I generally found the receptionist helpful, I was disappointed that she did not offer to reschedule me with another practicioner, and that no one reached out to me.

It is hard not to wonder if I was tricked. And I do not know the name of the therapist who works there-- not the temp but the long-term employee. She never introduced herself and remained consistently chilly. I have reluctantly concluded that she is not an asset to your practice. I don't know if your inattention to detail is incompetence or purposeful. There is also a lack of follow-through. For example, I asked if I should be doing exercises at home and was told twice that I would be given some. She gave me none. She then promised to email them to me. Nope There is also a general failure to explain the purpose of exercises, which is fundamental to the practice of PT. I see a reluctance to talk with patients beyond what seems absolutely necessary, keeping a distance that may benefit therapists but feels a bit chilly. The casualness with which staff treat patients can feel like neglect. . And now I see reminders for appointments that I KNOW I cancelled. I have decided to cease therapy with Ryan Ranch. This is clearly not a therapeutic relationship for me.

Trisha and her staff (my daughters LOVE Kaitlin and Raquel) are simply amazing. They are endlessly patient, gentle with their instruction, no pressure, and so incredibly supportive. I mentioned this and my very first appointment, and the receptionist said I would receive bills by mail. After a lot of wasted time, I found out much later that the the woman at the front desk does not actually handle bills, their national billing office does. And that's the problem. The policy of their national billing office is to send notice that you have a bill (but not the actual bill) via a text message, to save the company money. But the text contains a very suspicious link where you have to go in and enter all of your personal information, before you even see or pay the bill. I understand they're trying to save 75 cents by never mailing bills, but when a patient ask for bills by mail, the company should send the bill by mail. Will never use Select Physical Therapy again, because of their lousy billing practices.
