Let me start this review by saying that I acknowledge that several place of businesses at this time are short staffed due to the Covid pandemic (Year 2022). The turnover of staff is understandable. But my mother (age 74) stayed here for about 2 weeks and she noticed there were many different staff daily. She came to this center due to having broken toes, inability to walk and an undiagnosed blood infection. I give one star to this facility for placing my mother in her own room due to her infection and not wanting to expose her to anyone. The medical director gave me a call, informing me that they were going to put in a referral to a doctor to explore further the possible blood infection - I immediately thought this was great and exactly what my family and I wanted. The visit with a doctor never happened. While at this center, she (and I) witnessed a lot of not so good things. While visiting my mother, walking to the front of the door, I see paramedics leaving what looked like a dead body in a bag on a stretcher. Definitely not something anyone wants to see. Maybe they ought to take out the back or side door? Why the front? A week into her stay, I call to check in on her and she tells me that she is not happy that she was left sitting in a chair by a physical therapist for HOURS, unattended. Again, she cannot walk so she could not get up to go to the restroom. She was given a "diaper" and was left in her soil for hours, without being checked in on. When I spoke to the day nurse, he shared he had also heard this complaint from my mother, but that the PT said she was only left her for an hour or so. Either way - it was not acceptable. Another issue was that my mother received sponge-baths, which is fine, however shared that the staff that gave it to her was once quite rude, aggressive, and insensitive by bathing her with very cold water, and when my mother said something, she changed it to extremely hot - was not patient at all with getting it to a warm temperature. On another day, I called my mother to check in (I called her daily), and she shared how she almost got attacked by a big, brown, spotty, hairy spider. After she described it, I looked it up and confirmed with her later with Google Pics that it was a Wolf Spider! Her room was near the side patio where guests go out to smoke, and that door would always be opening and closing at all hours of the day/night. My mother reported she could smell the smoke a lot, which to a non-smoker and someone with bad asthma, it is gross and not okay. Anyhow, my mother's room also had a side door that had a screen door, and if you don't know, this facility is in the mountains of Monterey, beautiful but also home of creatures. Well this spider made its way into my mother's room - either by the side patio or her sliding door, ran towards where my mother would sit next to her bed, she yelled for staff to help her (remember she cannot walk) but no staff came. Her guest neighbor in the next room came to see why mother was yelling and she attempted to step on the spider, however she was barefoot and the spider just wiggled away from her foot and ran under my mother's bed. This other guest went to get a staff and they eventually found the spider and killed it. They gloated to all the other staff -showing how BIG it was. My poor mother has a fear of spiders and this was her experience there. Sigh. My mother reported each PT therapist would struggle with putting her Foot-Boot on her - always putting it on differently than the next PT staff. She'd hear them tell her things like, "this is confusing, how does this go? Where does this strap go?" Etc. Makes me wonder about their qualifications. Lastly, there were times I would call in to the facility to speak to a nurse or someone in charge, and several times NO ONE answered. This would be during the day (several times) and once in the middle of the night. We had an emergency where my mother's spouse was dying in a hospital in Salinas. I tried calling to see if my mother can leave to say "good-bye" to my father in the hospital but no one was around to answer the call. My sister picked my mother up at 4am and because of this EMERGENCY situation, the facility said it was a Automatic Against Medical Advice (AMA) discharge therefore my mother was unable to return without going through another referral from a medical doctor. They also refused to give me or my mother a Discharge Summary of her progress while at the facility due to this AMA. Very disappointing. Do give your loved one a cell phone when going to this place. The rooms have their own phones but if they can't reach that phone, then at least they have a cell phone. I give another star because SOME of the staff that checked on my mom were VERY nice, respectful and treated my mother like their own mother. I can only imagine how difficult it is to do this line of work so the compassionate and respectful part is needed and appreciated. I just wish all the staff were this way.

Cypress Ridge is definitely the right place to send your loved one. They have very attentive staff that truly go above and beyond. Their administrator, Ryan was always available to answer questions and helped put anxious minds at ease. Michelle, their marketing director answered all of my questions related to their facility and I was shown pictures of their facility as tours aren't allowed at this time. But despite that, everyone was very understanding of all my questions. Their nursing team showed great care and service starting from the beginning with Chris, their admission nurse. Jasmine, their Assistant DON was very knowledgeable and helped me feel peace of mind with leaving my loved one's care in their hands. During a pandemic, it is hard to not be able to be with your loved one 24/7, but they were able to accommodate socially distanced visits. I definitely would choose them again!

Again I received a call that my son's therapist will be leaving the practice & in the meantime no times are available except 3pm on Wednesdays (they have his availability & know 3pm on Wednesdays would not work). Since February of 2026, his doctors have requested he receive an additional session be added since my son is non-verbal & every time I have followed up the response is "availability must remain open for other patients". CLARISSA, the scheduling "manager" who is very passive, informed me if i did not want to schedule my son for an incoming therapist in August (WE ARE IN APRIL) then i am more than welcome to have him discharged. Mind you, we drive an hour to take him to be able to receive this support & multiple times we have arrived & there is no therapist for him, or the session was "canceled". The lack of communication & opportunity for a child is extremely sad. 0/5 stars

Ms. Hoops was very helpful and explained the reason for my exercises as well as emphasizing the importance of my continuing the exercises on a long-term basis. I have heeded her advice. While in consultation with Ms, Hoops I also learned that she had experience working with deaf children. My family had been haranguing me for years to get my hearing tested and the results concluded that I had moderate hearing loss, but not sufficient loss for a hearing aid. However, I was not fully informed of the consequences of my hearing loss or provided an explanation of my testing chart. I made an appointment with Ms Hoops to go over the results of the test, I brought in my charts (which were greek to me) and she explained the test results, informed me of the sounds that are now difficult for me to hear and gave me suggestions regarding "training" family members and friends about how best to ensure that I hear their words. I am very happy to have found Ms. Hoops and Monterey Bay Speech Therapy.

Mind you their was a family member with her 24/7 until she was called home. Does that make a difference - maybe but the staff was attentive to other patients just the same. Its not a happy place - people are at various stadges of health and some are dying. That's life - to complain that enough was not done? Well some folks are never happy and others are selfish with there time and expect more than what can be offered. Think before you complain - was there something I could have done at that time to change the outcome. As for theft - items of value should be left at home! And likely it still could have come up missing - if there was sentimental value. Its possibly been secured by a family member... Thank you to all

They helped her live her last days with dignity and grace. They were responsive to her needs, although she was somewhat non-communicative. She was bathed daily and cleaned up on a regular schedule. The staff has been more that accommodating to our family's requests. They are truly an exceptional group to work with. My experience with my mother being a resident here has all been very positive. I find that if you have a loved one here it is very important that you are present that you visit often and get to know the staff. The CNA's took very good care of my mother and communicated well with our private caregivers. They were always attentive to all her needs and worked as a team with our private caregivers. The Nurses were exceptionally caring by making sure my mother took her meds with chocolate pudding. The activities staff were enthusiastic and caring; the kitchen staff were attentive to my mother's preferences in food. The entire staff is to be commended for the professional way they go about difficult job they have. Once again, I would say that if you do have a loved one in care anywhere you should visit them often. I think that really affects their care, when the staff knows that your loved one is not just being dropped off but instead they are still an active part of their family. My mother recently passed away April 13, 2022 she had dementia. For years, we care for her at home and as she progressed, we had to make that hard decision to place her here. We are so fortunate to have found this place for my mother, how all the staff took such great care of her. I want to thank the administration Carole Dorsey, RN Director of Nursing Services for accommodating our whole family to be able to see my mom on her last moments of life, and Thank you to all the staff for the kindness and wonderful care you showed for my mother. Although we are still grieving her passing, it is a comfort to know that she was at the right place being cared for by the right people. Thanks so much for taking great care of my mom. Without my knowledge or consent, she sent this evaluation to the private school we were applying to--an action that directly resulted in my daughter being denied acceptance. This not only devastated us at the time but set off an entire year of emotional stress and confusion. Fast forward to a year later: after seeing multiple other speech therapists for second (and third) opinions, every single one has said the same thing--my daughter has no speech disorder. In fact, she doesn't even qualify for speech therapy at all. It's clear to me now that Jocelyn Lagier was more interested in keeping us on a path of ongoing, unnecessary therapy sessions--ultimately for financial gain. She was not warm, supportive, or collaborative. She did not listen to my concerns as a parent, and I truly believe she caused harm rather than helped. I'm writing this review because I don't want another family to go through what we did. If you're looking for a thoughtful, ethical, and child-centered speech therapist, I strongly suggest you look elsewhere. This was a deeply painful and frustrating experience, and one I wouldn't wish on anyone.
