One good facility for rehab. Thank you cypress ridge for taking well care of my grandfather, it was a very pleasant place to be here. The quality of care was excellent, therapy did there big one with assisting. Nursing was always on time with medications. Admissions was my first point of contact and always had answers to my questions and concerns. Activities was great with they're candle light dinner. Thank you. My mother recently spent 2 weeks in the "care" of this facility and the subpar level of care was unacceptable. In fact, she at one point developed a UTI and pneumonia (which went undetected for 3 days) and was only rushed to the ER when she went unresponsive. The hospital called me when she was admitted and they were concerned she wouldn't make it through the night (she did, thankfully). My brother and I, even though we don't live in the area, flew several times to check on her, made pleas to the staff to attend to her better, and our requests were ignored. When she was in pain, she pressed the call button and waited hours for a nurse to show up. Oh, and even though she was supposed to receive physical therapy immediately following her hip surgery, she didn't receive an PT for the first week because the staff wasn't measuring her blood pressure properly. I could go on. It's unbelievable how little they cared for my mom. read more

The staff at Cypress Ridge were amazingly accommodating with us. They provided a single room for my mother in law who stayed with them for 6 weeks. She had been hospitalized prior for a psychotic break and was somewhat of a difficult patient. The staff at Cypress Ridge were compassionate and efficient at all times. The director communicated with me immediately after any request. Their onsite social worker was fabulous and kept track of all the appointments for all the patients and helped me through not only all the daily appointments but also interviews with our transition to assisted living. I also need to give a shout out to all the nurses and staff who really do the hardest of work. I could see how much they all cared for every patient there. The front desk staff made sure nothing slipped through the cracks and the driver was always there for her for the multitude of appointments when I couldn't be there. Finally, the OT and PT employees showed up for every patient 5 days a week always ready to motivate and move my mother in law and got her strong and ready for her next living arrangement. I could not have achieved what I did without Cypress Ridges staff's support. read more

I was there for one hour of hell. I broke my upper leg and hip and I left the place and then I was kicked out for leaving. So I have heard it changed hands and I'm hoping it will be better as my mother is there for respite and I will take her out if I need. I was terrorized by the insulting nurse who would not allow pain medication until I dumped my backpack out. I said no and she told me I had to. I left and I got kicked out and the ambulance came and picked me up and back to C-H.O.M.P. Iwas home the next day and my dad was the only one who came and helped me. How I got here and took care of him as he was dying. I am grateful. read more

Our cousin has been there for a month now. He has transitioned from skilled nursing care to hospice. The facility is clean, always smells fresh, rooms are bright and more spacious than other facilities we have seen. Darci, Social Services Director was very helpful in working with the VA to transfer from Medicare to VA coverage. Ren in Admissions, was helpful and friendly on getting our family member admitted. He helped navigate through a few hiccups that were outside his job function. And finally, Genesis is a wonderful CNA who is loved by patients. She is our family member's favorite due to her kindness and special care. This is obviously more than a job to her. Overall the facility is quite nice and one we would use again. Staff is typically very good even though they are all quite busy. read more

Let me start this review by saying that I acknowledge that several place of businesses at this time are short staffed due to the Covid pandemic (Year 2022). The turnover of staff is understandable. But my mother (age 74) stayed here for about 2 weeks and she noticed there were many different staff daily. She came to this center due to having broken toes, inability to walk and an undiagnosed blood infection. I give one star to this facility for placing my mother in her own room due to her infection and not wanting to expose her to anyone. The medical director gave me a call, informing me that they were going to put in a referral to a doctor to explore further the possible blood infection - I immediately thought this was great and exactly what my family and I wanted. The visit with a doctor never happened. While at this center, she (and I) witnessed a lot of not so good things. While visiting my mother, walking to the front of the door, I see paramedics leaving what looked like a dead body in a bag on a stretcher. Definitely not something anyone wants to see. Maybe they ought to take out the back or side door? Why the front? A week into her stay, I call to check in on her and she tells me that she is not happy that she was left sitting in a chair by a physical therapist for HOURS, unattended. Again, she cannot walk so she could not get up to go to the restroom. She was given a "diaper" and was left in her soil for hours, without being checked in on. When I spoke to the day nurse, he shared he had also heard this complaint from my mother, but that the PT said she was only left her for an hour or so. Either way - it was not acceptable. Another issue was that my mother received sponge-baths, which is fine, however shared that the staff that gave it to her was once quite rude, aggressive, and insensitive by bathing her with very cold water, and when my mother said something, she changed it to extremely hot - was not patient at all with getting it to a warm temperature. On another day, I called my mother to check in (I called her daily), and she shared how she almost got attacked by a big, brown, spotty, hairy spider. After she described it, I looked it up and confirmed with her later with Google Pics that it was a Wolf Spider! Her room was near the side patio where guests go out to smoke, and that door would always be opening and closing at all hours of the day/night. My mother reported she could smell the smoke a lot, which to a non-smoker and someone with bad asthma, it is gross and not okay. Anyhow, my mother's room also had a side door that had a screen door, and if you don't know, this facility is in the mountains of Monterey, beautiful but also home of creatures. Well this spider made its way into my mother's room - either by the side patio or her sliding door, ran towards where my mother would sit next to her bed, she yelled for staff to help her (remember she cannot walk) but no staff came. Her guest neighbor in the next room came to see why mother was yelling and she attempted to step on the spider, however she was barefoot and the spider just wiggled away from her foot and ran under my mother's bed. This other guest went to get a staff and they eventually found the spider and killed it. They gloated to all the other staff -showing how BIG it was. My poor mother has a fear of spiders and this was her experience there. Sigh. My mother reported each PT therapist would struggle with putting her Foot-Boot on her - always putting it on differently than the next PT staff. She'd hear them tell her things like, "this is confusing, how does this go? Where does this strap go?" Etc. Makes me wonder about their qualifications. Lastly, there were times I would call in to the facility to speak to a nurse or someone in charge, and several times NO ONE answered. This would be during the day (several times) and once in the middle of the night. We had an emergency where my mother's spouse was dying in a hospital in Salinas. I tried calling to see if my mother can leave to say "good-bye" to my father in the hospital but no one was around to answer the call. My sister picked my mother up at 4am and because of this EMERGENCY situation, the facility said it was a Automatic Against Medical Advice (AMA) discharge therefore my mother was unable to return without going through another referral from a medical doctor. They also refused to give me or my mother a Discharge Summary of her progress while at the facility due to this AMA. Very disappointing. Do give your loved one a cell phone when going to this place. The rooms have their own phones but if they can't reach that phone, then at least they have a cell phone. I give another star because SOME of the staff that checked on my mom were VERY nice, respectful and treated my mother like their own mother. I can only imagine how difficult it is to do this line of work so the compassionate and respectful part is needed and appreciated. I just wish all the staff were this way. read more

My father has been in this facility since his transfer from CHOMP. He has been undergoing intensive therapy and care since his stroke. The staff and different therapy groups as well as social services have been wonderful. He has been improving daily, concerns are addressed right away and I have not encountered any major issues. The atmosphere is good and I feel confident he is in good hands when I am not there. Kudos to everyone at Cypress Ridge! Thank you for keeping an eye on pops! read more

I was sent to Cypress Ridge Care Center earlier this year after I got sick. Admittedly I didn't want to go there as it is over 100 miles from my home but my attitude changed after my first day. I was there for over 100 days, so I got to know the place pretty well. The whole staff there from the cleaning staff all the way up to the Doctors were really good. At the time I as not the best patient or person to be around because like so many I had been through a lot but the staff kept me going. The food was good although I wish they gave us more peas than beans. Not a green bean lover but the variety was good and it was cooked well. So Kudos to the kitchen staff for that. The cleaning staff were excellent, the ladies were always cheerful and had a smile on their faces even though around my bed was sometimes a mess. Thank you ladies. The nursing staff from the CNA's through to the R.N.'s and doctors were always cheerful and happy. They always treated the patients with respect and did whatever they could to make their patients feel better no matter what the hour, especially at 2am for another I.V. Bag. I wish I could remember all of their names but I can hardly remember my own name these days. I really liked all the nursing staff. They should all be recognized for what they do. Now for the physical therapy and occupational therapy staff. These ladies and gentlemen are great, you may not want to do what they want you to do and trust me I didn't but they have your best interests at heart. If you follow and do what they ask of you these people will get you home. Yes it is sometimes painful, sometimes hard and sometimes just a pain in the butt, always worth it though. The ladies make P/T and O/T enjoyable. Finally for the office staff, social workers and the driver Vince they rank up there with everyone else very highly. They made my stay and numerous trips to the hospitals comfortable and pleasant. This is a medical facility so it's not a holiday camp but I cannot recommend Cypress Ridge Care Center and it's staff highly enough. If I ever need to go back to rehab again (and I hope I don't) may they send me again here. read more

I have very mixed feelings about this place. In the first place, I'm not certain why they sent my mother here after she left.CHOMP. She is 91years young. she had a digestive blockage and one of her vertebrae is fractured, which they are not treating. Once the blockage was cleared, they sent her to this place for some reason. Her physical therapist and occupational therapist were absolutely wonderful but at her age, I'm not sure how much therapy can help at this point. she has speech difficulties due to a stroke five years ago, and no matter how much she told them that they were hurting her they still insisted that she sleep in their bed, which is an impossibility for her or they plopped her into a wheelchair where she sat all day. at home, she uses a recliner. It took quite the fight to get them to let me bring her recliner. The bed they had given her was hard as a rock and very old, and you could feel the metal rails in it. I was horrified they would put any patient in it much less than 91 year old woman. She shared a room with a woman who was there long-term and so there was a lot of stuff in the room and it was quite congested. Basically she was relegated to about a 3 x 3 space where she sat all day. Her therapies were twice a day Monday through Friday, but nothing on the weekend so she just sat . It became very clear that she had no need of being in this place and so we decided to take her home. Did you know that they can hold people hostage? Didn't take long to realize that they wanted to keep her for the 20 days her insurance would pay, not for her benefit, but for their own. I guess financially it benefits them of people stay the duration, regardless of if it is negative for them individually. Then yesterday morning, her roommate tested positive for Covid, you would think they would immediately remove an elderly person from the room, but it took me going over there and throwing a fit to get her out of there. Even if they had just moved her to the hall until they could relocate her or sat her out in the sunshine, but no, they left her in with a Covid positive adult . And when I asked the social worker why they hadn't gotten her out of there. She just shrugged and said she had mentioned it to her administrator. I got the feeling that the needs of Cypress Ridge came far before my mother. It took a lot of fighting and getting hospice and her assisted living involved and it still is taking until tomorrow to get her out of there. I thought we lived in the land of the free but I think we live in the land of Insurance rules I do think the caregiving by most of the nurses was good but people who were putting her in and out of bed were hurting her so badly and not stopping to take the time to go slowly and listen to her pain. My hope is that she if she ever hast to go to a rehab again that we can get her back in at Natividad. I would probably not take her back to Cypress Ridge it might be a great rehab place, but I don't think that once you cross the door into administration that the Care is there. Jordan is the social services person and I think she seems nice enough, but she seems also to be very preoccupied with keeping mom there in spite of my mother, sitting there with tears pouring down her face, begging to go home. I think they need to look at what their goals are for the individual rather than for the center. I am less than happy. read more

Even though my mother wasn't able to stay very long. Cypress Ridge was just fantastic! Even though my mom was sent out due to a unexpected post surgery complication, Michelle continued to check on her and checked on our family to see how things were. She always offered support for our family even though our mom wasn't her patient under her care. She was happy to explain things that was happening with our mom's care at the hospital. We will for sure be returning back once my mom is cleared to return to Cypress Ridge! read more

My 86-year old mother was admitted here at the end of January, and stayed for nearly 3 weeks. It was her first time in this type of a facility, so of course I was a bit nervous and didn't know what to expect. I read the Yelp reviews before she was admitted, and felt relieved to know that many people had very good things to say. I agree with the good reviews. The care here was very good, and every person I dealt with was professional, helpful and kind. They answered all my questions patiently, and took care of all our requests. I would not hesitate to recommend Cypress Ridge to anyone who needs this type of care. The only thing I wish they had done differently would have been to have some type of intake meeting with me when my mother arrived. (Her mind and memory isn't sharp enough to have that meeting on her own.) I really didn't know the process, what would happen each day, etc. I was able to talk to people and get answers to all those questions, but I just think it would have been better if that type of initial meeting was part of the process, rather than me having to find someone to ask. But thank you very much, Cypress team! I very much appreciate all you do! read more

I have said really nice things about this facility in the past month. But this last week has been a nightmare! I have communicated to the attendence office, nurses, receptionist and tried to reach Darci. They have given me, 5 different roommates and 2 room changes in a month, since I have been there. This latest roommate is very combative. She hates it here and has been bitching about since she arrived. No TV she wants, no lights on, all the doors closed and is very forgetful. I understand she has a problem, but I do, too. For some reasons they have given me very needy roommates that I have had to advocate for them. No body else will. Again, I am also a patient. I have my own needs, too. This latest roommate just yelled and threatened me. I have avoided being in my room at all costs, due to her temper and negativity. I thought this would have been resolved, but has not. There isn't any advocate here. I am very disappointed. When I was here last year with another brain injury, there was more help. This latest situation is actually scary. Make sure you check out the advocacy that your patient needs at this care center. read more

Cypress Ridge is definitely the right place to send your loved one. They have very attentive staff that truly go above and beyond. Their administrator, Ryan was always available to answer questions and helped put anxious minds at ease. Michelle, their marketing director answered all of my questions related to their facility and I was shown pictures of their facility as tours aren't allowed at this time. But despite that, everyone was very understanding of all my questions. Their nursing team showed great care and service starting from the beginning with Chris, their admission nurse. Jasmine, their Assistant DON was very knowledgeable and helped me feel peace of mind with leaving my loved one's care in their hands. During a pandemic, it is hard to not be able to be with your loved one 24/7, but they were able to accommodate socially distanced visits. I definitely would choose them again! read more

My aunt Cindy was admitted here in March for a hip replacement. After arriving at the facility she had a complication from the medication she was given at the hospital so she went back to the hospital. After two days she was sent back to Cypress Ridge care center. There the team put together a plan to help her recover. She was up and walking comfortability in 3 days. Care was overall good from the nurses. The Nurse Practitioner Michelle was amazing and provided high quality care., You could tell she was knowledgeable but also caring. Some CNAs were dismissive. I was there to visit a friend several times per week. The doctor I think his name was Dr Auerbuck only met once, didnt listen, dismissive and rude. Food is horrible. After my husband left the hospital, he was taken to this facility for rehab. It has a five star rating from Medicare, but it is not a five-star facility. I had to call my husband every four hours around the clock to make sure he got his medication. The food was terrible, it was very noisy . If he didn't like his meal, they would take it back and maybe bring him a sandwich for dinner. He lost around 15 pounds because he wasn't eating, right. This place is terrible and in my opinion should be shut down. Please do not send any of your loved ones here. Disregard their fancy photoshopped self submitted pics. this facility is not only an eyesore, it's a health and environmental hazard. the care they offer is beyond substandard. My aunt was housed their between hospital stays and when I saw the conditions she was put in, I immediately demanded her transfer to a cleaner facility. The hallways smell of old food and human feces. Patients are left roaming the halls by themselves half dressed. The beds are old and decaying. The TV's are ancient. And the only time I saw a staff member to give care to my aunt was when I demanded she be moved to a different facility. Only then did management come to see why we were leaving. As a skyline neighbor, I hear screams of patients coming from the facility on a regular basis. Desperate patients are calling for help and sometimes it's an hour before the screaming stops. Daily from the parking lot comes wafts of cigarette smoke as well as some colorful language from staff on smoke breaks - f*#k, f@gg$t, c@&t, bitch, and so many others. And for a month or so there was sounds of people having sex in their car at a very load volume. I hesitate to let my 2 year old daughter outside to hear the profanities. They consistently overfill their trash allowing it to overflow the bins, thus spilling into the city waterway and into our oceans. Also, the trash is a welcome snack for the neighborhood vermin - rats, raccoons, crows, gulls, etc. If you are looking for a care facility for someone you love, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! By the city's own admission they have been fined several times and it's a wonder they haven't yet been shut down. read more

Recently my mother finance had a accident and after his surgery he was sent to Cypress Ridge. It is a nice light clean place and the people there treated him with respect. He complained about the food but he also complained about the hospital food. They worked with him to get him what he wanted to eat. I've had no problems with the staff and they were responsive to our calls. He spent about three weeks there and I am happy to report he is now home. read more

It is with sincere regret, that I post this review, in the beginning Melissa was very responsive and considerate regarding my mothers admission. However, with my mothers ensuing stay, I was not updated regarding my mothers condition, and reported referral to hospice care. Although I repeatedly tried to gain information regarding her discharge and confirmation of the need for hospice I received no information during a time of extreme concern for my mother's well-being. It is of note that I was contacted immediately regarding self payment of continued stay for my mother, as she was not meeting criteria for insurance coverage due to her "hospice" condition. As a Hospital administrator myself, I would hope that no family member or client would be treated in this manner. I did however, find the frontline staff to be extremely attentive and concerned regarding my mothers condition. read more

Things have gotten better. The CNA's are nice, but I feel over worked. The Physical Therapy is excellent and have helped me tremendously. Activities dept. Is very fun and nice. A great escape from your day. + from my injury it really helps my dexterity. Social services has been very helpful. The Nurse Practitioner (that will be missed) is very understanding and worked very hard to make sure our meds we're correct. I have met some really nice people and staff here. There are still something's that need to be rectified, but they did listen to our complaints and requests from the residents meeting. Especially cleanliness and laundry problems. But it was nice that they will get some things worked out. All and all it's gotten better since I started here. read more

This place is a complete joke. My father has been here for only 7 days and the care here is horrible. His toilet has been broken for five days and there was even feces water coming into his room. I had to go out of my way to find out some kind of answer on what they were doing to fix it and all I got was " we don't know". I have met ONE nurse here who is caring and capable, Andrea. The rest are not interested in providing care, comfort or customer service. My father pressed his call button at 9am and they came at 4 pm!!! To check on him and then remarked about how inconvenient it was since " I was eating my lunch". I'm am sooo sad about the conditions he has to live in. read more

At first I was apprehensive on my mother in law being in Monterey since we live in Campbell. I visited this facility 4 times. Dr. WU was her md in Salinas and recommended this facility. The CNAs were like a warm blanket of love to our Mother in Law. Three of the afternoon team went above and beyond with the care and love. Thank you. It is very difficult to visit the "inmates" at Cypress Ridge. There is NO PLACE to sit in patient dormitories and you almost want to leave as soon as you arrive. They move the patients constantly and every time they do, my friends claim that some of their stuff turns up missing -- especially articles of clothing. There is a mixture of attendants there; most of them seem very competent and helpful, especially at the front desk. The requirement to wear gowns and face shields, in addition to N95 masks inside of patient rooms is difficult to observe because there is no room for storage of and changing into PPE. read more

My grandmother was recently at Cypress Ridge Care Center after a fall that resulted in having an emergency surgery. At first it took couple days to adjust being there because she is non English speaking. She speaks korean only. Surprisingly, she connected with the caring staff after few days. The staff were very attentive. I was concerned about weight loss because she prefers asian food most of the time but she actually enjoyed her meals at Cypress Ridge. I would to thank everyone at Cypress. Especially the nursing staff and the korean speaking staff members who were there to translate and visiting my grandma frequently during her stay. read more
