Thanks to Maggie Brandt for hosting KEEP today at her farm. The Icelandics are versatile, naturally gaited horses with a great temperament. Although small , almost pony-sized, they are hardy and long-lived. Their heavy double coat protects them from the cold, wet weather. As the name implies, the breeds origins trace back to the Norse settlers in Iceland during the 9th and 20th centuries. Riding lessons and educational clinics are available.
