Refused to release death certificates unless we drove over 12 hours to come into their business to sign a release form. What?!?!? Wouldn't email the release so it could be signed and emailed back, so we could receive the death certificates from them. I would never recommend this atrocious place of business to anyone. Will also be filing formal complaints about their business practices with the board of funeral directors and embalmers. Primary roll of a GOOD funeral home and director is to help the family while dealing with a very emotional and stressful time, not add to it.

When his wife passed away in October and we went to the funeral home they were rude and unprofessional and told us that $10,000 didn't cover any of the services and we had to pay another $2600 for her to be buried. Then the day of the funeral they were completely unprofessional. They stood around outside while the family and friends entered the church and did not greet anyone or help out at all. Then when they went to close the casket they stood in front of a church full of family and friends while they took all of her jewelry and belongings off of her in front of everyone which was awkward and uncomfortable for all attendees. After the service when everyone was ready to go to the cemetery we were informed that they had forgotten to make the phone call to have the grave dug and we had to push it back until the next day. In turn, family had to take more time off work and friends could not make it back the next day. When we got to the grave site we were told by an employee of the company that digs the graves that this is not the first time that this company has done something like this to other families. My poor 96 year old Grandfather and the rest of our family was put through so much unneeded emotional distress during this already difficult time. I would NEVER recommend ANYONE to use this company even if it was 100% FREE! The Colonel and his wife CLAIM to run this business for the benefit of veterans and out of the good of their heart but all they are doing is scamming people. They are now trying to PROSECUTE my 96 year old grandfather for stopping payment on the $2600 check after we told them we would NOT pay for the horrendous service that we received. We opted to have a family only graveside service, it was cold and rainy. The funeral home thought of everything! Chair covers, blankets, and they were welcoming and very caring. One thing that I noticed: the attendants weren't overbearing. They were there, they greeted us, they made sure we signed the book, and each of us received a folder. The casket was treated with upmost respect, and care. Flowers were tenderly placed. We had our own officiant who lead the prayer and presided over the proceedings. The funeral home staff was there, but not overbearing. I can't thank you enough for your kindness! Further, some family members needed documentation for bereavement leave. Royer's was very responsive and provided exactly what we needed We were so impressed by their genuine approach to this hard time, my husband and I are going to pre-plan some of our arrangements and make sure that this funeral home is a big part if it! It took forever to find the number to call and report it. I know that they purchased Perpetual Care, so I anticipated the problem being fixed AS I WAS ASURED IT WOULD BE. This Memorial Day when I found the stone still leaning I called again, livid! And I was told that "they" told her she could not do anything thing with the stone. What then, I asked, is Perpetual Care for? She said it was for the grounds. Does that mean if it hadn't been purchased they would't mow the grass? But why hadn't I received a call back in a year to tell me she was unable to fix the stone? I have now hired a monument company to install a new base, guaranteed for life. My Aunt and Uncle have undoubtedly rolled over in their grave at this treatment!
