A workout for $2 in a pool that's never crowded and well staffed. What's not to like. Horrible review Shannon D.

Not only, but I can't count how many awesome evenings I've spent there getting a great workout in the pool, then just vegging out in the hot tub while watching the sunset or admiring view of the canyon... Truly a special place to swim. The layout consists of a main building where you have to register to get in (either using your student ID or buying a membership). The main building is also where you will find a rock wall climbing center (i've never been but I know every once in a while they have days where students climb free) as well as your showers/locker rooms, and a great little gym. When i lived on this campus i used to prefer the Canyone View Gym to RIMAC simply because nobody seemed to use it, and I never had to wait on anyone to do my workout. Literally straddling the pool building are two olympic sized pools and the legendary hot tub. The pools are heated, with lights that turn on when needed, as well as 2 diving boards on the east pool. The crowd that goes here is good at respecting the "slow on the left, fast on the right" lane rule, and when it gets a little crowded people are very respectful when sharing lanes. In fact, if you are super slow like me, its totally fine to just go to the shallow end and work on your swimming for a while - thats what i did for a month or so and improved greatly! Nobody every gave me even the slightest of negative looks. Finally, I cannot stress how importantly awesome the hot tub is. Its large (you could probably fit 15 people in there), clean, HOT, and positioned perfectly so that you can go and relax after any sort of work out. In my experienced opinion, (and that of many others) this is THE best aquatic facility and THE best hot tub in all of La Jolla, possibly all of San Diego. Right now with absolutely no affiliation to UCSD you'd have to pay 120$/3 months, and an alumni pays $100/qtr. Its really not that bad - I strongly recommend this as your next workout choice.

It's funny how something as simple as a warm smile and a friendly hello from the staff at the front desk can mean so much to someone, but it really did for me. The women who work in Childwatch are amazing and so kind to my kids. The staff upstairs is always patient with me every time I forget which locker I put my stuff in, which is more often than I'd like to admit. I've also never once felt uncomfortable asking someone to teach me how to use a piece of equipment I've never used before. I'm unfortunately a very sweaty woman, so the fact that they keep disinfectant, towels, and paper towels easily accessible throughout the gym has genuinely made me feel less self-conscious about how much I sweat while working out. The only improvement I can think of is that the man working in the café has the personality of a filing cabinet, but honestly, maybe every gym needs one emotionally neutral employee so the rest of us don't get too spoiled by how friendly everyone else is. We're really grateful for this place.

I do feel I get the value for the price for my whole family. This program goes far beyond traditional swim lessons. The one-on-one instruction is intentional, disciplined, and rooted in proven survival techniques. Watching my daughter learn how to roll onto her back and self-rescue if she ever falls into the water gave me a level of peace of mind I didn't know was possible. Coach Heather is absolutely amazing. Her patience, expertise, and ability to connect with such young children made all the difference. You can tell she truly cares about every child she teaches, and it shows in the results. They don't just teach children--they empower them. And they educate parents every step of the way, which makes the experience even more impactful. If you're considering ISR, don't hesitate. This is an investment in your child's safety, confidence, and lifelong capability around water. I cannot recommend it strongly enough.

We had no idea what to expect coming in, but ISR is nothing like a standard swim program. The sessions are short and focused, which is perfect for little ones. No drawn-out class time where kids mentally check out halfway through. The repetition and consistency is what really makes it work. Practicing the same skills over and over is what allowed her to actually absorb and build on what she was learning. We signed up for once a week lessons over three months and she surpassed the expected milestones halfway through the first week. Brad and Heather are warm, patient, and clearly love what they do. You can feel how invested they are in every kid they work with. If you're a parent on the fence about ISR, stop hesitating. Best thing we did for our daughter.

I haven't taken classes with the weekday mornings' instructors but I'm sure they are really good too! They teach classes where students are at different fitness levels and attitudes too lol. The instructors do an amazing job of correcting your form, providing modifications (always ask if something starts to hurt), and they also push you harder, especially if they have seen you in previous classes. My twin sister was in town and joined me last minute to a class with Angela! She's amazing, tough and nice enough to take a picture with us! My twin loved the class so much that she's looking into joining her local LA Fitness. My favorite part is the stretching leg circles & frog with the ropes at the end of class. I definitely come to class for "me" time and to shut the noise of work and the world.

Their isnt a lunchtime class or afternoon on weekends. So I have to go to 4s Ranch location. The sales pitch is a 1 star. I already knew I was going to come here. I just wanted them to work with me, instead they ended up making me rethink it. I almost said forget it. Their was a lot of "I have $20 voucher but I'm waiting to give to the next person if you dont claim it in an hour" then the next call was, "if you go somewhere else, its just going to cost you $300, so you might as well sign up now" I really dont like BS sales pitches, especially if im telling you I want to join just work with me. Luckily, a sales rep from another location signed me up no problem. The facility is clean, has lots of options and have had no issue since.
