One of the most exhilarating, exciting, intimidating and sweaaaaaat fullllll experiences I've had this year! Or maybe even ever, actually. I've been here twice now and I can say that I throughly get my a** kicked (in a good way) every time. It hurts sooooo good for the next 2 days. I come for hip hop Tuesdays with Latosha! I genuinely leave inspired and motivated to get back down to a size 6. It's a little crowded in there but you'll be so much in your zone you won't even notice. The only true con is parking. I would suggest getting there early or you might be able to find a spot at the meters across the street. 10/10 recommend if you're looking into it tho!

So I guess this was opened before the DTLA location, which is the one I first went to via Yelp Fit Club. I have Class Pass and I although the DTLA is closer to my house, this location is closer to work. I signed up and went to the express cycle class at 5:30 on a Thursday. Parked in the lot easily as it wasn't super full. You can check in easily at the front desk iPad. Brought my gym bag and changed in the bathroom, which was clean and had some nice amenities. The class wasn't super full, but I was automatically assigned to bike #3 when I signed up with class pass, which was right next to someone else. It would be nice if they spread out the people if the class wasn't full, but it was fine. It just gets REAL sweaty, so some space would have been nice. Instructor was super energetic and had great music playing. I think I prefer the express versus the full hour class, because unlike a regular spin class, the heat does take a toll on your body and energy. But I love the extra heat and sweat, feel like you get more of a workout. I am a big fan of hot spin and I love what Sweat Shoppe is doing!

Then she gave me a very detailed information about their studio. There is a seating area on the first floor so I could change to my spin shoes (complimentary rental). There is a water machine to refill your water bottle (free). In case you forget your water, there are water for purchase as well. The classroom is on the second floor. There are plenty of storage cabinets to store personal belongings. The Class: Our instructor was Sara. She is such a sweetheart. She knew it was my first class, she personally adjusted my bike to my height for me. Showed me how to use the bike (especially how to lock my spin shoes to the pedals). OMG! Her energy is up to the roof! She did the whole routine with us PLUS giving us instructions & motivating us at the same time! She is amazing!! I love the "vibe" in the classroom. It is slightly dark with great music. I felt like working out in the club! Sara's playlist is awesome~ The Parking: I found the street parking (free) right in front of the studio. I think they have a small parking lot behind the studio as well.

Downstairs they give you spin shoes too. One of the workers was very nice and escorted me upstairs to see if I was comfortable with where I was placed in the class. I asked for a seat change and they were more than accommodating. The class itself was pretty good. Definitely built up a sweat. It's all cycle based with no weights. Good energy! I cannot say enough great things about Ariel! From the very first session, she was professional, motivating, and genuinely invested in helping me reach my goals. Every workout was challenging and pushed me to my limits but never sacrificing my physical well being. Ariel always made sure I used the correct form to avoid injuries and even helped me overcome my physical limitations better than my Physical Therapist. What really sets Ariel apart is her positive attitude and ability to keep workouts challenging while being encouraging. On days when I felt I couldn't do it, she pushed me in the best way possible and helped me build confidence along with strength and endurance. Ariel treats everyone in the class the same and understandswhat each person is capable of performing. If you need accomodations she provides them while not sacrificing benefits of the movement. At the end of a workout session you not only feel better physically but mentally as well. If you are looking for someone knowledgeable, supportive, and truly passionate about what they do, I highly recommend Ariel. Easily one of the best fitness experiences I've ever had or hope to have! Some of the equipment, like the cardio and fitness machines, is a bit older, but overall, I prefer coming here over places like 24 Hour Fitness, Crunch, Planet Fitness, or the Y. They don't have amenities like a pool or sauna, but I get a fantastic workout every time, and I love that it's less crowded. It's a great spot for focused training and a more personal gym experience.

Going to fitiquity would save me 30-40 minutes 3-4 times a week in commuting time, so I really wanted it to work. I arrived and told the woman at the front desk I was interested in doing a trial membership. She shoves a piece of paper at me, tells me to put my name down, and hands me a card, and that's it. No spiel. No what are you looking for. No let me show you around. No liability waiver (insane...). I ask her if there's locker rooms. She says "under the W." From the angle, I can't see what she's talking about, and she looks incredibly belabored when I ask her to show me where. The locker rooms and facilities are fine. A little outdated, but livable. It was definitely hot in there, so I don't think they're cranking AC. There's stuff sort strewn all over the floor in one area, which is annoying especially since I come to the gym to clear my head but again, not the end of the world. I wander around for a bit, try to find the stuff I usually use, which is mostly free weights. There's no real warm up area or mats if the rooms are filled with classes, which was not great but I could make do since I often workout at odd hours. The deal breaker was when I couldn't find the squat rack. I asked the same belabored employee where it was. She pointed to the smith machine. I said "that's a smith machine. Do you have a squat rack?" She pointed to a stack of barbells used for seated overhead presses and suggested I use that. I told her I need safety bars, the ability to rack on my back, etc. She said they didn't have one. I'm honestly shocked - while the gym has classes and prioritizes boxing, more than half the gym is dedicated to weight training. She offered no explanation as to why they wouldn't have one - is it broken? Do they have a philosophical objection to squat racks? Is this gym not intended for the kind of clientele that uses squat racks? Had the staff been even slightly more helpful, maybe I could've looked past the rest, but this would dramatically adjust my workouts in ways I'm not willing to cope with, especially for a pretty dramatic price increase from blink. I hope someday things will shift here and I'll be back, but until then, guess I'm sticking with Blink!
