He was very rough as I had swelling and bruising for 2 weeks after! I unfortunately had to have 2 more extractions while out of town and an emergency general dentist caused minimal swelling and no bruising and she had to remove a 90 degree slanted root. Dr Schlott is very unfriendly. He is not at all comforting. Very matter of fact. No compassion whatsoever. This was a very dramatic time for me particularly when I returned for follow up after having emergency dental work over the winter. The front office staff was not particularly friendly. The young lady who assists during surgery was the only real kind person in that office. The billing lady was a witch! I had to submit my own forms to my insurance company and had to return twice to get the proper information filled in. Dr Schlott refuses to personally sign the insurance forms himself. Really nice and helpful, right? The second visit I met in her office and she frowned the whole time and told me.."I don't legally have to help you, you know. I am doing you a favor. (!?) this is of course after they had received several thousand dollars from me out of pocket. Oral surgery is very expensive, and hardly any insurances pay very well. She reminded me over and over how my insurance was out of network. I knew that. Bottom line... would never return to this office and do not recommend Bi-State, Dr Schlott and staff to anyone! Adding....I went to dental assisting school in my younger years and worked for a Prosthodontist for 4 years before I entered Nursing School. I was a RN for 40 years in various areas of nursing, so I know how patients should be treated. This is not the place to get good,professional, and kind care! Very unfortunate experience for me.

All nonhealing sores in a mouth are suspect and he didn't take it seriously and blew it off. Also, he told me year after year I could put off dental work and then told me I can't put it off any more and by then I was past the point of being able to have a bridge to fix my back teeth and I was now going to need the help of an oral surgeon. I would have gladly went ahead with the work needed had he not told me it wasn't necessary at that point.

I previously left a 5-star review for that part, and I still stand by it. However, I was disappointed to learn after the fact that the office only submitted my insurance as general coverage, rather than specifying the exact tooth that was treated. I didn't know that my insurance applied a 5-year waiting period on this tooth, and I ended up paying $860.00 out of pocket over the quote after the procedure that could have been avoided with proper pre-authorization. I wish the administrative team had been more thorough with the insurance process. A simple step -- verifying coverage for the specific tooth -- would have made a big financial difference. I hope they improve this part of their patient support, because the clinical care truly deserves high praise.

They listened when I shared she had just been to the dentist for a cleaning a few weeks prior so didn't "make" her get another cleaning. Their equipment seemed high-tech and being able to see the x-rays right on the screen in front of the exam chair was great. Dr. K was really cool and provided my daughter with exercises to help with the pain and shared that they have an oral surgeon who comes to their offices once a month. After calling around to oral surgeons we had gone to in the past and finding out the wait times were 6 months to a year out, we immediately called back to Aspen and were able to get her in within two weeks to get her wisdom teeth out. Overall, I would recommend Aspen - the office is nice, the staff is friendly and professional and they helped us when we had nowhere else to go.
