My favorite cross stitch designs are intricate lace projects and medallions, that are migraine causing, and require expensive magnifying glasses to see the tiny stitches. So, when I began my cake decorating course, and googled cake ideas, and found Sugarveil. I immediately recognized the design, it certainly looks like lace I own. Being a beginning cake decorator, and wanting to wow even myself, I didn't consider the price. I just knew I wanted to make a cake with lace on it, and this was my answer. Then, I found out that Sugarveil was developed and is produced in the Kansas City area (about 30-45 minutes outslde of KC). without a doubt, I ordered it, knowing, in crafts, you get what you pay for. Sugarveil is an uncomplicated product that is better explainable by going to Youtube and viewing the Sugarveil channel. Sugarveil is a type of confectionery product that acts like a combination of melted marshmallow and pourable icing. When placed in a detailed mold (this situation, the mold is lace), and when set, and removed from the mold produces sugar lace. The opposite side of the mold, produces sugar fabric, that is stitchable, per pictures on the website of the Sugarveil wedding gown. There is also a cool electronic device that does perfect cake piping. It is pricey, and I didn't order it. As for product availability, it is available on the website, and in a few stores, none of which are local. The inventiveness of Sugarveil presents it's heads above other products for what it does, and it's cool that it's made and distributed in this area. I'll add pictures later today.
