Colorful, maximalist, and funky! I was greeted instantly by the bartender and we talked about the inspiration of the place, and how the sound system was right on for the theme. Let's hope they can get that vinyl system working with the digital monitors... that's always a tedious process! The food though, it brought it home. I got a to-go order and brought it home to my buddy who'd been working all morning. He took a bite and his eyes lit up man. I Love to see one of my guys visibly love good food. The issue I have is they charge you for every extra, dipping sauce, extra charge , as a matter of fact the last time we were in the waiter, asked how I liked the pasta. I told him it was excellent he said what would you do different and I said perhaps a little more sauce but otherwise delicious. He brought some more sauce, which I thought was just wonderful over the top service till I got the bill and there was an up charge. I didn't ask for sauce, but I was charged for extra sauce, that's pretty shady :(

She earned an A+ and her tip reflected that. That said, my friend and I were both extremely upset about the lack of options for lunch. Everything on the menu was brunch and the options for that were not great. It took us quite a while to finally decide on what we would have. I had the quiche Lorraine with sweet potato fries and a salad. The sweet potato fries were OK, but the quiche was cold and I ended up eating less than half of my food. My friend ordered the blue crab benny which came with home fries. Her potatoes were cold and she also ate less than half her food because she said she didn't like it. I will accept blame for not realizing J Wilson doesn't serve lunch on weekends, but the quality of the food is on them. When I come to Lawrence, it's almost always on a Saturday, so I will not be having lunch at J Wilson's again.
