They also host various cooking classes, and if you go to their calendar or the "pick-up food" section on their site, the owner sells tasty, home-cooked meals every Tuesday + baked breads on Friday (lately, it's been dinner rolls, challah bread, and cinnamon roles) that you can pre-order and pick-up in-store. Great local find.

I saw a woman pour a little bit of vinegar into a little paper cup and sip it straight, so in true monkey-see-monkey-do fashion I did the same. My first taste was the White Peach Balsamic. Forget everything you know about balsamic vinegar, stuff this good is on a different plane of existence altogether. Wow! So syrupy and brightly flavored I now understood the glaring lack of bread cubes. Who needs them? The White Peach was like jam. I was instantly thinking of pouring it over ice cream, or ... ? It turned my world upside down. My budget permitted a purchase of just one bottle this trip, but you can rest assured I will be coming back to add to my collection. If you're curious, I chose the Lime Jalepeno Balsamic as my first bottle. All I add is a little oil, salt & pepper and I have a salad dressing that knocks my socks off!

The pizza guy gave us some good intel on what to get and not get, and our pies were made perfectly and brought out hot to us. The bakery has a great selection of freshly made cookies, cakes and other fun items and they were all reasonably priced. I had a peanut butter explosion and the other ladies had some fun frosted sugar cookies. For me the cookies were too crumbly but they loved them. The reason for 3 stars was lack of customer service. I had to go to the front to get cups for soft drinks. The woman I approached didn't say 1 word to me when I told her what I needed. She just walked away to a register where she rang in my purchase. It would have been nice had she said, "follow me," or "I can help you with that." But i figured out what she was doing and paid at the register and then told her I had a problem. She said, "what?" with an irritated tone. I told her I needed the cups I had just paid for. Again, she walked away from me, apparently expecting me to follow her, and I did. Then she asked another employee to hand me the cups. The other woman did that and I thanked her. The cashier who rang up our few groceries was pleasant and the bagger actually joked with me, so at least I had that as I was leaving.

Per usual I ordered too much food when I know my stomach is a coward! I dont know how i ended up with a gargantuan pork steamed bun! I thought it was going to be average size, if not I woildnt have ordered that and the fried ones. The dumplings over all, but the chili oil they were floating in was not actually that flavorful. Service was good! If you go for the grocery store, its smaller then the Pan-Asian one but also less crowded! Will be back to try the bahn mi!

I like the food court here better and now there's a banh mi/pho place as well (haven't tried). They have homemade soy milk, frozen homemade dumplings, ducks and cakes for order. Their bakery section is no longer cash only, which is great. 888 seems to have the same range as Pan-Asia but I somehow find more Chinese and Vietnamese foods here. I was looking to make Vietnamese fried flour rice cakes (bánh bột chiên) and I could only find them here. Before Pan-Asia got a makeover, 888 was my go-to. They used to be worse about labeling prices, but they've gotten better. Unfortunately my most recent visit had a couple items on the receipt that were scanned extra times and my partner hadn't noticed. Staff if always nice and helpful otherwise. Always double check your receipts!

My culinary game has stepped up several notches over the past few years and places like the Tasteful Olive absolutely augment my cupboard. If I can finish a pasta with a flavored olive oil, such as garlic, lemon, or maybe blood orange, then count me in. It certainly ain't cheap, but great food is made from great ingredients, and those great ingredients are going to cost money. This most recent visit had me adding in a bottle of strawberry balsamic and I cannot wait to knock a salad out of the park with this stuff. I also added in a house-made lemon/basil/garlic olive oil blend that made a recent risotto of mine devastatingly fantastic. I walked in curious; I walked out with three bottles and tons of ideas. Super-friendly service and they're always helpful if you have questions about pairings or flavor profiles. I love the layout as well as the local goods that you can get, such as honeys, jams, or pasta. Sample anything you want, but I guarantee you'll find more than a handful of flavors that you would really like to try. Let your palate experience your flavor imagination!
