They were the best cookies I've ever had- specifically the chocolate chip ones! They were very moist and flavorful. I shared all of the goodies with my team at work and they were impressed. It's obvious that Dr. Janis' treats are made with love. I had no idea that she also makes homecooked meals right next door! That is on my list of foods to try. She got so successful and loved running the shop so much that when she started school at Auburn this fall, she decided to major in business rather than biomed and keep selling cookies. All in all, a pretty cool origin story, haha. You can find Maddie's cookies (at least when she's home from school) in a small shop downtown. There's good signage outside so it's not hard to find. She's super social media-adept, so I'd recommend following her on Instagram so you can keep up the times when she'll be in town. You can preorder cookies that way so you can guarantee getting the flavor that you want. You can also order cookie boards, which look great for holidays, work parties, or even wedding or baby showers. I pressed my luck for Valentine's Day and stopped in to pick up some cookies. If a particular flavor is appealing to you, I'd HIGHLY recommend preordering. They were open for I think four hours the day I stopped by, and I came 1.5 hours in and there were only two packs of cookies left. Both were sugar cookies. I would have preferred a different flavor ideally, but I'll just have to preorder in the future. :) The packs are currently 3 cookies for $6. It's a little high of a price for me, but it's offset by the knowledge I'm helping a small business, and the fact that the cookies are tasty! Maddie herself was manning the cookie shop and she was perfectly sweet and very friendly. As for the cookies, they were really good! I had to delay eating them because I got overstuffed from other Valentine's festivities (lol), so they were maybe a little on the crusty side at the outer edges. Probably my fault. But they had a lovely vanilla flavor, had pretty purple and pink sprinkles/dust on them, and were nice and soft at the center. I believe she's starting to expand and you can find her cookies sometimes at other downtown establishments like Honest Coffee. I'll definitely keep my eyes peeled so I can try different flavors in the future!

Can't tell the difference. Everyone really enjoyed them. The non-dairy birthday girl and family really like reheating them a day after with a little butter on them. It was like celebrating her birthday again. We had a Cinnaholic in our city in the bay area but it closed down. We were so happy to find one near Decatur Alabama that we didn't mind a little drive to Madison Alabama. While we visited the store it was nicely kept including the restroom. We got greeted as we walked in. Nice décor for the interior. We enjoyed a brownie $3.00. It's very fudge to perfection. Make sure to have something to help wash it down in a good way. We had a Banana Pudding Roll $8.00. The roll was nicely done not too chewy and just enough cinnamon. The slices of banana add wow on this one. We also had a Strawberry Shortcake Roll. Again the base of all the rolls is the same. Not too chewy baked just right with a nice amount of cinnamon inside. The strawberry spread and slices made it into another wow creation. This little bakery and lunch spot is across the street from the credit union, conveniently off Whitesburg Drive. If you've ever been to any of the neighboring businesses (eg The Wine Cellar), you'll know parking is a challenge - not a ton of spots, and many of them requiring sharp angles to enter and exit. The restaurant looks a little like a small home and has a nice fenced in patio in the front. It looks like the owners are still working to put the finishing touches on the inside, but it's still cute and welcoming. There's a medium sized dining area with a window so employees can pass your food to you. A beautiful display case shows off the yummy baked goods. There are also several cold cases with prepared foods, to include appetizers, entrees, and desserts, for grab and go meals. Would be great for football games or easy entertaining! I'd hoped for a side of macaroni salad but they were out so I wound up with Miss Vickie's chips instead. I also got a trail mix bar for a snack later because I can't ever resist those types of goodies. My sandwich came out promptly: pimento cheese and bacon griddled on jalapeño cheddar bread. The staff member apologized for it being messy, which it certainly was lol; I had to get a fork to eat the plummeting clumps of pimento cheese. Messiness aside, I enjoyed the sandwich. The pimento cheese was appropriately gooey and cheesy. I wish the bacon had been a little crispier but it was an ample amount. My favorite part was the bread; the jalapeño flavor was subtle but there and it was the perfect texture for a panini. The trail mix bar I had later was packed full of goodies and also yummy.
