While ordering online I learned that anything written on the cake cost an additional $10 and icing flowers were an extra $20. I purchased a 6" plain chocolate cake with a "happy birthday" message that advised would serve 10-12 people for $70.79. In my opinion, there was nothing special about the look or the taste of the cake that set them apart from any other cake shop or grocery store bakery. Super cute walk up shop. I was in charge of dessert for a get together, and their cupcakes did not let me down. I ordered 6 cupcakes (and a coffee to go) from the paper menu they had available while also peeking at the display behind the service attendant. The group really enjoyed them and mentioned they'd go try them out again. My only gripe: I really wish the cupcake display was all the front of the stand. I wanted to pick cupcakes based on how cute they looked and it was difficult to see them. It seems they've closed to store off. Hopefully they open back up soon. Also they do cakes too. I saw a family picking up a beautiful graduation cake. (I ended up writing the ingredients on sticky notes, because there was no way I was going to be able to remember. One of my best girls gave me a couple of cake pops from Sweet Cheats when she came into town from Atlanta. They were yummy! Can't comment on service or atmosphere, but friend tells me this is her favorite bakery in the neighborhood. The cake pops were beautifully decorated, with swirls of chocolate and spatters of color. The inside cake was moist and very chocolate-y. The chocolate coating wasn't waxy or any of the usual problems you encounter with that kinda stuff, either, so that was great! This is a bakery with walk-up service near Cabbagetown Park and Krog Street. They make custom cakes, including wedding cakes. My husband ordered a Red Velvet cake for my daughter's birthday in advance. My son tried the Red Velvet Cake Pop which he recommends! Unfortunately, I am having to resort to review forums to get my point across about a recent experience I had with this bakery-- Recently ordered a cake for my bridal shower from this bakery & when we cut the cake at home, we realized it was extremely burned. We cut the cake in half to see if the entire cake was inedible or if it was just one area since we saw a thick brown layer (burned) throughout the cake. We have ate at numerous bakeries throughout Atlanta and assumed that our event planner could reach out to the bakery to rectify the situation. My event planner reached out to the bakery and they responded that the brown area was carmelized and informed us it was not burned, and since we ate half of the cake- they would only offer 6 cupcakes to make amends. The customer is always right and the image we sent was after we sliced it in half- assumptions are never a good choice when in customer service. The cake was NOT EDIBLE. We through the cake away and declined the inattentive offering of cupcakes from the bakery. This situation could have been easily rectified had they merely taken fault and asked how to make it better. It's an unfortunate experience and I am sharing to prevent anyone else from dealing with a company who delivers burned cakes to such special events and responds with such a poor attitude. Bummer. Nothing like the anticipation for a delicious treat to satiate those sweet tooth cravings, only to be let down. My friend and I came here on a whim, after meeting the owner at one of the restaurants we ate at, and she insisted her cake pops were on another level than Starbucks. (If you haven't had a cake pop from Starbucks, you need to try them) I was sufficiently full from dinner, but hey, there's always room for dessert. Funny, the owner was telling me she does bodybuilding competitions, and sure enough, I saw some trophies in there. Yet she owns a dessert shop. My kind of girl. There's lots to catch your attention like brownies, cupcakes, cheesecakes, and of course cake pops. I got two different kinds of pops, and sadly, can't remember one of them, but the darker one was Nutella. I think the other was either creme brulee or birthday cake? Either way, it was unmemorable. It really wasn't all that moist, and didn't have great flavor or richness. My friend got some red velvet cheesecake, and I tried a bite, but it was dry and not super creamy. I am glad this place was just right down the street from where we ate, because I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again. Maybe we hit it too close to closing time, so it wasn't super fresh? They used to be amazing until after Covid. It's so ridiculously difficult to catch them when they're open. I've been craving these cupcakes for months and when I finally get the chance to go, they closed early. Made it at 5:29pm on a Sunday, after calling them around 4, just to be met with closed doors and some young lady standing behind the register. Today someone posted on their IG story with a picture of a wine glass but they couldn't take the time to post that they were closing early. After eating at and walking around Ponce City Market, R gave me directions so that we could "go get dessert." I assumed it was going to be ice cream, but he told me to enter "Sweet Cheats" into Waze, and we were on our way. After a short 1.5 zig-zag circuit, I parked on the one way street right in front of the store. R said, "Ok, let's get cupcakes." "Oh, is THAT what this place sells?" We walked through the front door, and were waiting while two young ladies were debating which sweets to get. They couldn't decide, so we ordered ahead of them. All of the cupcakes behind the glass looked great! I got a red velvet cupcake, and R got a lemon cupcake and an Americano to drink. I started eating my cupcake, and was kind of disappointed because I was expecting a cupcake that was at least halfway airy and moist. What I got was a very dense, solid, barely moist cupcake. The flavor was good, but it was heavy. The icing wasn't too sweet, which is the way I like it, so I liked it. R said that his cupcake was also heavy, very dense, well, basically he thought the same thing about his cupcake that I thought about mine. He also ate a cruffle, which is the same as a cakepop at Starbucks, and he had the champagne flavor. R said the cruffle was very good, and he added that the cruffle was also dense, but it should be dense to be able to stay on the stick. His Americano was also good. The cupcakes were placed into clear plastic clamshell containers that are probably very effective in protecting your cupcakes from getting crushed until it's time to eat them. We ate the cupcakes in the store. I've had gourmet cupcakes (from other places) that were lighter and more airy, and those are the types of cupcakes that I feel are better. Service was quick, but the employee behind the counter didn't welcome people as they came into the shop, nor did she smile. Came by and got some of their cupcakes. They are very pretty and I highly recommend it for that. The cupcakes themselves are pretty sweet. The cake part also doesn't really have distinct flavors to them (e.g. strawberry didn't really taste like strawberry). Several people also commented that the beautiful toppings would have been better if it extended into the cupcake (e.g. half a cookie was a topper - would have liked the other half of the cookie in the cupcake or as part of the cupcake). Haven't been here in over a year. But I was having this type of day so off I went to get me some treats. The packaging is just so inviting! Each cupcake is beautifully wrapped and is packed with flavor. The salted Carmel is my favorite. I don't remember all the flavors but I did get an Oreo, strawberry, salted caramel, and a chocolate crunchy something lol. The cashier was happy and suggested many different treats. It's a one way street so I'm not Sure how Traffic is after hours. The only reason they did not receive a 5 is for the actual icing. It's overly sweet and two of the cupcakes were dry. Cute, quaint shop! The desserts are displayed in a clear case and serve as a great tease. They have a ton of flavors which can make choosing very difficult. I ordered the sweet and sinful - cheesecake filled cupcake with strawberry icing or something like that. It had a great strawberry flavor and the cake itself was moist and fluffy! Ordered the chocolate toffee brownie - really good with a ton of chocolate. Lastly, tried the carrot cake cake pop and that wasn't too much of a hit. the pop is made with cake and icing so the texture is really dense and just wasn't all that great. The chocolate caramel hazelnut latte is really really really sweet and hard to drink with the rest of the sweetness but am sure would be delicious by itself. There's no parking lot, it's just street parking but we got lucky and found a totally empty street in front to park, not even two steps away from the door. this place is located right in front of Castleberry park and would be great treat after a day at the park. It's only a few years old and can be found on the north side of Cabbagetown Park, on the ground level of what looks like a modest-sized home. The store specializes in single serving size desserts and cafe beverages, such as coffees and teas. Cupcakes and cake pops are among the business' most popular items. They're baked fresh in-house every day and flavors rotate daily. Sweet Cheats likes to refer to their cake pops as "Cruffles." On any given day, you might see roughly 15 different cupcakes and 15 different cake pops beautifully presented and available for immediate purchase from behind a glass display. Examples of other goodies for sale are brownies, cookies, macarons, cheesecakes, chocolate mousse cups, and fruit tarts. Some of the non-sweet stuff consists of bread products like bagels, muffins, English muffins, croissants, and breakfast sandwiches. Several coffee beverages are offered, iced or hot, such as espresso, latte, and mocha. There are steamers (flavored steamed milk), teas (e.g. chai tea), and fancy or "gourmet" hot chocolate. Also, there's always special or seasonal sweets and beverages to try, such as hot apple cider in the winter. Each time you visit, it seems like there's always something new on the chalkboard. The prices at Sweet Cheats are comparable to other Atlanta area specialty cupcake shops, meaning they aren't cheap. A single cupcake is $4, a half dozen is $23, and one dozen is $40. Cake pops are $2 each, $12 for a half dozen, and $24 for a dozen (no discounts if you buy more). Expect to spend about $3-4 for a caffeinated drink. I've tried many of Sweet Cheats' creations. In general, the desserts are indeed very sweet -- admittedly, almost too sweet for me, but I'm not a big sweets person. Though flavors vary, the cupcakes (and other treats) seem to be quite rich and decadent. No corners are cut and I don't believe any artificial ingredients are used in the recipes. It's all real eggs, butter, cream, and sugar. Sweets I've tried include: Sweet & Sinful cupcake Creamy Crunchy Bliss cupcake Sweet & Sinful cake pop Blueberry macaron Heath bar cheesecake The "Sweet & Sinful" cupcake is a cheesecake-flavored cupcake with shortbread cookie, a strawberry, and a strawberry buttercream cheese icing. It's slightly "lighter" than the other cupcakes. Its cake pop counterpart is equivalent to putting the cupcake cake portion on a stick and dipping it in chocolate. No strawberry or icing, but the rest of the flavors are replicated. Both the cupcake and cake pop are delicious. The "Creamy Crunchy Bliss" cupcake is a white and chocolate cupcake with Oreo bits baked in. On top is an Oreo cookie and a buttercream cheese icing. It's addictive, luscious, and succulent. The blueberry macaron I tried was very good. I wouldn't put it among the best macarons I've tried in Atlanta, but it's right behind. Perhaps it's because I ordered the macaron towards the end of the day when it wasn't as fresh. Either way, one thing I noticed about Sweet Cheats' macarons is they are bigger than the average macaron. The macaron had great flavor, though I wasn't completely sold on it due to its relatively harder/firmer consistency. Don't let that steer you away though. If you're a fan or macarons, try one. The Heath bar cheesecake is stellar. It's hard to go wrong with crunchy chunks of toffee and milk chocolate melded together with tasty, creamy cheesecake. Of the sweets I've mentioned in this review, I recommend both the Heath bar cheesecake and the Creamy Crunchy Bliss cupcake. Good stuff. The beverages aren't bad. I've tried some of the seasonal drinks such as the pumpkin pie mocha in the fall and the caramel apple latte. I really enjoyed the caramel apple latte. It's soothing/refreshing and not overly sweet. The pumpkin pie mocha could've used some work. I could taste the pumpkin pie, but the drink was too bitter. Like other local dessert shops, Sweet Cheats has sturdy, stylish, and functional to-go containers for all of their sweets, down to containers tailor-made to store and protect single cupcakes. The business also ships (minimum order one dozen cupcakes) and delivers (minimum order $40). The store space is intimate and casual. It works well as a meet-up spot for small groups. Free Wi-Fi is available (password: sweet9512). Free parking can be found in the small parking lot behind the building or along any of Cabbagetown's residential roads. Service is great. I like the food. I'm definitely not a fan of the customer service. I'm not from Atlanta and very rarely do I get the chance to go on foodie adventures, but this past weekend, I finally got some down-time and I got lost twice and almost ran into other cars 1,000 times because of the tiny neighborhood. The atmosphere is nice and there's a lovely park right across the way which makes one feel better about overindulging on sweets. When I got here, however, I wasn't greeted by anyone, even though there were 3 girls at the register. When someone from the back finally noticed me, she rushed up and immediately asked if I needed help. She was nice, but I'm not too keen on having to wait a while to even be acknowledged... like I'm giving you my money, the least you can do is smile at me, dang. I ordered the brownie, the strawberry champagne cake pop, and the other strawberry cupcake. $4 for a cupcake was pretty over the top for me, considering the cupcakes are the same size as other places for way cheaper. The plus side is it wasn't dry and the frosting didn't leave a waxy aftertaste!!! The brownie wasn't too great; I'd just spend my money on the cupcakes and cake pops here. Consider me converted, this is my new favorite dessert stop, especially now that I'm in love with Cabbagetown. Located in a tiny shack of a place, Sweet Cheats houses the cutest cupcakes I've ever seen. Parking isn't the best but there's a small private lot behind Sweet Cheats. Thank goodness it wasn't busy. The guy working the counter was very nice and pointed out some of the more popular items, as well as his factories. We tried: Sweet and Sinful (strawberry) Chocolate Dream (cake pop with stripes) Flavor of the Month (dulce de leche) Heavenly Sin (coconut almond cake pop) I loved the Sweet and Sinful, which was light and delicious. The Cruffles (cake pops) were a little heavy for me, but still tasty. I also ordered a chai tea latte to wash down the sugary goodness. It was more chai than latte but it went perfectly without the sweets. I would definitely come back if the time was right and I was in the area. This is located right in Cabbagetown across from a park. It's a little quant neighborhood bakery with a small parking lot in the back. My wife and I went to grab something sweet to end our date night and we were pleasantly greeted. Everything looked super good so it was hard to choose. We ended up getting 2 cake pops: salted caramel and passionate kiss, a strawberry bar, and the idea brownie. They were all really really good!!! Of the 2 cake pops, the passionate kiss was the best as it's a cheesecake pop and the flavors were perfect. I really enjoyed to super rich idea brownie but the strawberry bar was a milder less sweet flavor that was also magnificent! I would absolutely go back here and I'm sure it's a nice neighborhood delight!! Hands down recommending!
