In fact, I was lured to take the ferry across the sound just to check out this store again, a month later. My first time visit, I walked passed this store not thinking much. I thought everything might be really expensive since all the stores in the area were pretty pricey. I had just come out of a store just across the street that sold a dress for $150. I didn't think anything in this little town had affordable things. Boy I was wrong. I stopped to look at the clothing rack outside and found this beautiful classy dress for only $20. It was for sale and it was just beautiful. It was like a dress you would find at anthropologie or a high end boutique. It was the perfect dress that I had been looking for the last week since I had a special event. Inside the store, they had an assortment of clothing, wonderful smelling perfume, and accessories. My friends bought perfume and hair accessories. I ended up buying this wonderful dress. I kept thinking about how I loved this store's collection/style of clothing and affordable prices that I decided to drag my husband to come to Bainbridge Island again the next week! I found another dress upon my second visit for $35. Not bad for a high quality and beautifully designed dress :) I was kind of sad because the store had signs stating that the owner was retiring and that was why their stuff was heavily discounted. Their selection had whittled down since the last time I was there. I highly recommend coming to this store before it closes! I wish I could stay opened!

They have clothing from two of my favorite brands, Joie and Vince, among others. What is really great is their selection. They had items I wanted from Nordstrom that had sold out months ago. On top of that they were having a 40% sale. People working there were very sweet and friendly! Can't wait to go back when I need some new things.

Upon my perfectly reasonable response that I'd like to see them, she laughed and asked, "Are you sure?"--a remark dripping with smug judgment and barely concealed disdain. Let me be clear: this was not "banter," nor was it misunderstanding. It was a deliberate, classist attempt to belittle a customer. To be treated with such open contempt in a retail environment is not just off-putting--it's remarkable in the worst possible way. Save yourself the time, the walk, and the insult. Excellent quality and unique wares for this demographic of shoppers. Large selection of footware (many European, that I've never seen before. This is definately the place to go for leather European clogs!). They play super music (Motown was on when I was last here), and there are comfy couches (usually you can find the menfolk resting here, waiting patiently for their lady friends to be done shopping). The women who work here are lovely, too, and helpful. I should note that there is an AWESOME clearance section in the rear of the store. There aren't many sizes of items there, so you have to be lucky to find your size in a shoe or boot or clothing you want, but boy, the deals are great in this area.

Recently I purchased a top before leaving on vacation. Tried it on again after returning home (after 10 days) and the fit was wrong. I called Heart to inquire about exchanging or returning the garment (unworn, pristine condition, all tags attached) for credit and was told absolutely not, I should "consider gifting the clothing to a friend". I won't shop there again.

And some things look dinky or tacky, for lack of other descriptive adjectives. (If you browsed the store, you'd understand. There are strange purse accessories and toys, even, that seem poorly made). Like, they have an area of socks for sale on a wall display that are really well-made, in many different unique and funky themes and colors (I always find the best socks for gifts here for everyone I know!). There are some beautiful scarves. The clothing is not my personal style (seems like more of a matronly aestheic in the clothing department), but they have a really great selection of laser-cut dangling earrings in a TON of different designs and motifs (the details are amazing), beautiful pens and note-pads, nice bath lotions and potions, and more. At my last visit here, I found a unique clunky black and white bracelet that clicks together around my wrist with heavy-duty magnets (it's SO cool. I've gotten a lot of compliments on it!).
