Sweet Delights did our wedding cake for us in June 2013, and we have nothing but great things to say about the cake and the service. We just happened to walk over to their cute shop while waiting for brunch at Cadillac Bar one Sunday, and they were both sweet and professional throughout the ordering process. Their prices were reasonable and the cake DELICIOUS. We had an orange-almond cake with white frosting (perfect for a summer wedding) and everyone at the wedding raved about it for months after. I (the groom) wasn't present at the hall for the delivery, but my mother tells me that the cake was delivered on time and with much care. This is a difficult thing to do in Houston's summer heat, so props to Sweet Delights for their delivery service! I didn't actually order a cake because it seemed like a huge pricetag for a small request, but in sampling...the nicest cake tasted: their signature buttered almond. the orange cake was pretty good too, everything else seemed like you are able to get somewhere else. What I like is their pick in fondant is pretty neutral and a tad of sugar so it does accompany a good taste instead of other fondants where its just a bunch of blah to take off. Fresh on the day of. Her work is very thorough, detailed, great service, very patient. I didn't like that she couldn't quote me a pricetag on the phone/email...it makes you feel like they want to see who you are to charge you, whether you have money or not. Another, I know this seems a little bad of me, but it was odd going to a small house in a neighborhood that didn't look too friendly...I know Heights is a good area, but like Downtown you have your downfalls... so if you take my info: orange cake and signature...expect a bit of a price tag and a different kind of place, but great personal service and designs. read more

I haven't actually gotten to visit or work with Sweet Delights because the lady completely missed our appointment. I called on a Wednesday to make a tasting appointment, and the person I talked to told me that next week in the afternoon would be fine. I asked for a 4:30PM appointment on Tuesday, and she said it would definitely work for her. I showed up at 4:30PM on that Tuesday and no one was there. After waiting for 20 minutes, no one showed up. She did not call me. The exterior of this building is also extremely dirty and doesn't look well-kept, so I did not follow-up to reschedule my appointment. read more

The 5 tiered wedding cake Connie made for our wedding was amazing ! Everyone loved the flavors we had selected (almond with raspberry filling). Connie personally delivered the cake, set it up and placed flowers which we weren't expecting. Initially my wife and I were going to buy flowers and leave them at the wedding venue for Connie to place on the cake. But we decided not too and had let Connie know. Connie on her own brought and placed flowers, with no extra charge to us ! The flowers looked amazing. Connie also allowed us to rent the cake tray for free and return it later. Connie was professional throughout the process and she was willing to work within our budget. Shortly before our wedding, we called Connie to confirm everything was on target and the timings for the delivery. She answered all our questions and returned our phone calls promptly. We worked with Roslyn in 2006 for our wedding cake. We went to her home to taste cakes and the almond with raspberry filling was our pick. We ended up ordering a 50-serving cake, for $350 ($7/serving). She wasn't very responsive after we placed our order, but we figured it was because she was busy. She delivered our cake on time and we didn't have any issues with the way it looked or tasted. Her prices are comparable to others in the area, the quality and customer service may be a little less than perfect, but overall, she was a good baker. read more

We had a bride's cupcake tower (almond cake with raspberry filling and buttercream icing), and a groom's cupcake tower (chocolate cake with peanut butter and buttercream icing.) The day of my event I text Conie to confirm the time of delivery...which was supposed to be 7pm. My decorator asked me around 8pm, if my cake company contacted me since they were extremely late & the table she designed was looking bare without the cake centerpiece. With all of the running around, I hadn't notice the cake wasn't there. I called Conie and asked "where are you", she responded with "I'm at home, what can I do for you". I'm like "my cake should have been here an hour ago", she stated "oh, I thought it was tomorrow, let me see". I was LIVID, as my event was about to start & guest had already shown up. Conie threw a cake together and delivered it after 9pm. She apologized, but that didn't excuse the fact that had I not called HER BUSINESS to check on my cake that I paid for, I wouldn't have had anything that night. Each and every documentation I had from her & vice versa, had the event date on it. Conie didn't offer a refund on the delivery or deposit or to even make me a personal cake to make up for HER MISTAKE. Not using her or referring her to ANYONE! This will be a learning experience for me indeed. Should have stuck with WHO MADE THE CAKE, at least I would have had better customer service. read more

I ordered a cake from this bakery and I would never do it again. The cake itself was undercooked, the fondant was hard/old and inedible, part of the decoration fell off within 5 minutes of delivery, delivery was an hour late without any notification. The end design was not as expected and the quality was definitely not up to par to other specialty cakes I had ordered in the past from other bakeries. This specialty cake was expensive and so not worth the cost I was charged. read more

Rosalyn did a fabulous job on my wedding cake for April 13, 2013. She was very helpful from start to finish. I was a bit unsure about my design the first time we met, but that was not a problem. I was able to order the basics, then come back and tweak that design once I had chosen my dress and flowers. The cake looked amazing and more importantly tasted delicious. My husband and I wanted two different flavors, and that was no problem. I highly recommend this bakery. Rosalyn is personable, professional and a very talented pastry chef. I scheduled an appointment and we had the cake consultation. Everything seemed fine until I called in March to make an appointment so we could finalize the order. As of today, I still have not received a call back and feel that I wasted my time going over there during five o'clock traffic and she can't even return my call. Talked to a mutual acquaintance and found out that she has certain types of weddings that she likes to do, so if you have a small wedding don't waste your time find someone else. I prefer people to be up front and if you don't want someones business just tell them, don't say you can call back at anytime to place an order if you don't handle small weddings. I guess people get so full of themselves that they forget that the small people are the ones who help them get started. read more
