The staff was quite rude when I pointed out that it took an hour to get a Philly sandwich. Was told "there is a lot of orders and one person making them". No apology, no consideration. What is with the rude service? I just stopped at a place to grab some chicken salad. What place you ask? Sweet Magnolia's Bakery Cafe. I asked for a quart of their signature chicken salad. When she quoted the price... I said I'm sorry, never mind I can't afford it. I'll just take a chicken salad sandwich. The owner came out with many people at the counter and said LOUDLY "I HAVE 3 SIZES." I politely said "I needed it for the whole family, so a smaller size wouldn't work." She then LOUDLY AND RUDELY SAYS "Do you want a pickle?" She was not looking at me so I didn't know she was actually speaking to me. I did not respond because I'd already been verbally accosted about not being able to afford the expensive chicken salad. She says it again and yells "IT'S FREE." So disrespectful. Coming from LA, my fiancé and I stopped by to grab some sweet treats for our family. Seeing all the hype coming from the show Home Town we decided to try it out. We were wrong, you're better off at a Porto's in LA. They were not welcoming at all and came off so rude. Never coming back again. Although it was cute little shop. The attitude of the workers need to change. It felt as if they hated their jobs and were annoyed when my mother in law had asked what kind of pastries they had. Super rude staff. My mother was just there on 3/7/25, and she accidentally knocked over a little potted plant with an orange price tag of $20. My mother immediately apologized and offered to pay for it. She paid $20 for it. The staff were so rude to her, and they went out of their way to try to embarrass my mother. She has always given them business even though she has heard horror stories in the past of their behavior toward customers because she believes we should support our local businesses. Now we see (as a family!) what everyone has been talking about. Very disappointing. We stopped by here to buy some sweets. After we paid for everything in cash we asked for things to be put in two separate bags. A young girl was stopped from placing our items in bags by some older fat rude white woman. She refused to give us a plastic bag because our items were in a box. On the day before, I had bought things and had the boxes placed in bags without any problems. I had to basically justify why I needed a bag. And she rudely snatched one off to give it to me. I am new to Laurel. I saw their advertisement on the billboard so I went to check it out. I told the lady behind the counter I was new to town. Both of the women working at this bakery were not friendly. I did not have enough cash, so I needed to use my debit card to pay for my items. The one woman rudely told me I would have to pay a fee unless I spent more than necessary amount to wave the fee. So, I bought thumbprint cookies. They were okay; not great and cost me $5.99 for 12 tiny cookies about the size of a quarter. To purchase the necessary amount to wave my fee I also purchased an oatmeal cookie (it was flat, dried out, slightly stale with no flavor and I paid well over a dollar for it), pumpkin bread (was ok) and two chocolate covered pretzels (they were pretty good). For the price I paid none of these items were really good. Because of the quality of the bake goods, and rude service, I will not return. I went over to Sweet Somethings Bakery and was welcomed kindly by the woman there. She was very helpful and welcomed me to Laurel. The scone and oatmeal cookie I received was delicious and I will definitely go back! Also, they allowed me to use my debit card with no fee tacked on for spending less than 5 dollars. read more

I don't even know where to begin!!! We were traveling through and we yelped Reaturants. The pics looked great and they had a great review so we called and they gave us the specials over the phone. One of them was a Honey turkey sandwich- that turned out to be a roasted turkey another special was a fried bologna and tomato sandwich. We also ordered egg salad - and they had just run out of that we then ordered some of their bakery goods along with two other sandwich meals. I ordered one of the two chocolate cupcakes left and several other items. Paid-$55.55 for five meals and some pastries. Which I thought was a little steep. We then went to sit down to give some social distancing for other people. She then went to get my pastries and had sold and gave the last chocolate cupcakes I had just ordered and paid for to another customer that came in after us. Soooo ok I chose another flavor. Then as they are starting to bring our food out which took forever.... they inform me they are out of bologna would I like turkey or ham nope- I wanted bologna.... so I then got a BLT but by this time I am getting pretty irritated. We get our food only to have some of the sandwiches wrong and discovered the special of the day "honey turkey" was really roasted and now I am worried my youngest who is also my pickiest won't eat it. So next was taste. Every thing was pretty good taste wise can't really complain and their gumbo was good too. But it was definitely not epic and after all the irritations it was hard to enjoy. Then we realized that one of us didn't receive a brownie which was part of one of the daily specials. And this brings us to the one star when my son went back in to get the brownie she gave all 5 of us one for the trouble. That was nice however was a little late in the customer service and we wouldn't have gotten it if we hadn't gone back in. So you decide! read more
