I had Phillips Drive-In on my list to try. I was so pleased I got to try them. The service was friendly and quick. I went with a classic cheeseburger with all the regular fixings. You can upgrade and add $3 for a basket of fries and a few onion rings or just onion rings. They even had homemade milkshakes. I really enjoyed my PDI meal and being able to eat outside in 70 degree weather in February was a bonus. I hope to come back one day. read more

Just a shake and a malt. We were able to customize our shakes. I had cherries and the chunks were too big to go through my straw. Maybe blend it longer or use bigger straws? Every grill dad thinks his burgers are the best but this was a close second. Ordered the jumbo chili cheese with chili cheese fries and I'm glad I only ordered the small fry. Big burger, messy in the best way, and delicious. Generous with the chili and cheese on the fries (I went with the nacho cheese but you can also get it with sliced American). I was searching where we needed to visit when we came to Laurel and PDI was a definite "must"! I didn't know what to expect other than outdoor seating and burgers. The immediate parking lot is small but there's a drive through and parking across the street. There's lots of seating too. The staff was kind and professional, so service was great. Expect to wait and have your name called from the card you pay with for your order. Everything is made to order and fresh! The well dressed cheeseburger reminded me of an upgraded McDonald's burger, potato wedges were delicious and had great flavoring. The fried okra was crunchy and taste a little like green beans. The onion rings were plain but just okay. Def recommend the coke float! Delicious! I would love to come back through the weekend and try more. We went to PDI because of the yelp stars. We found it to be good, not great. Pretty much it was a hamburger. Quite a few of the reviews made it sound fantastic. In our opinion it was a good burger, nothing to complain about but nothing to go on about. I liked the setup, quick food, eat at a picnic table. We always stop in Laurel for the night on our way to Florida. PDI will probably not be on our must visit list. read more

A neat place that seems like they should be able to advertise that 'Elvis ate here'! The burger was your run of the mill burger with pickles, chopped onions, and mustard. It was not anything much different than what you would get at Sonic. I do not expect much from fries at a place like this but I do expect them to be salted and hot, they were neither. If I went back I would skip the fries and just order burgers. A man can easily eat two. On a beautiful day it is worth spending lunch sitting outside and people watching. read more

I had dinner here recently and really liked it. I went on the earlier side so it was not busy yet. Right away they told me that their ice cream machine was broken and they did not have onion rings. Neither of those were what I wanted so I was okay with it. But a lot of people walked up and wanted ice cream and were disappointed. You either order at the window or they have a drive thru. I ordered at the window. I ordered the #5 Dressed cheeseburger - mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. All my favorite toppings. The burger was nicely cooked and juicy. Good flavor. I was torn between fries and tots and they said I could do 50/50. Yeah! They do a crinkle fry which is tasty. Tots were good too. They have ketchup in bottles by the front. The food does take a bit of time as they make the burgers when you order. I probably waited 10 minutes or so. Not too long. They have plenty of tables outside covered and not covered. While driving from Nashville to Houston, we stopped in Laurel to look around and grab a bite to eat. We didn't want the typical fast-food chain that is available along the interstate so decided to grab Phillips. We ordered at the walk-up window and then grabbed a table under the adjoined round plastic picnic tables. We ordered four cheeseburgers (dressed) and four milkshakes. We also ordered tater tots and onion rings. The cheeseburgers had a great flavor but were a little on the small side of things. I honestly expected them to be larger style drive-in burgers. Flavor? 5 stars. Size? 3 stars. The tater tots were fried to perfection and were very good. 5 stars. The onion rings were definitely overdone. We all thought they were slightly burned and should not have been served. 2 stars on the onion rings. The milkshakes were fantastic. Very thick. Difficult to suck through the straw. Took a while for them to melt down enough to finish them. We were well down the road again before we finished the last of the shakes. 5 stars on the shakes. Bottom line - Great tasting burgers but slightly smallish. Choose your sides carefully. Delicious shakes. Overall, a solid 4-star drive-in. I would eat here again. Bon appétit, y'all. read more

Oh man were do I start. We heard of Phillips searching thru YELP. I ordered the large steak sandwich with a soft drink. It was outstanding with very little grease. A friend and I traveled to Laurel, MS, for a girls trip and being from Laurel, my friend knows all of the good places to eat. Lucky me! We spent several days traveling in Mississippi or as I affectionally refer to it, "eating my way through Mississippi". We hadn't let a full 24 hours pass in Laurel before we found ourselves at Phillips Drive In, or PDI as the locals call it. As I found out, Phillips Drive In holds many memories in many a heart near Laurel. It was the local "hangout" back in the day and home to many First Dates, and still is, I'd venture to guess. PDI is not a large place and it's known for it's patio dining. In other words, there is no indoor seating. The building is small, the parking lot is small, but what is not small, is the flavor! If you think burgers, fries, shakes in Laurel, and you have to think of PDI. And you'll want to go hungry. The food is good and the food is filling. So, if you're near Laurel, MS, head on over to Phillips Drive In to make some memories of your own. But when you're there, call it PDI or they'll know you're a tourist! read more
