Upon entering, I felt like I was in a frat party with all the loud music and drunk men. The host quickly sat us in the back of the place designated for dining. Customer service was horrible. The waitresses were obviously focusing their attention to all the drunk men and even sitting and chatting with them. Great staff! I got to start off with the bartending staff, they're all really great people! Super welcoming and very encouraging on the chugging LOL I always order the chicken strips and my white sangria. Helps me feel much better after a long dreadful day at work. Some nights I'll switch it up but overall each drink I had tasted great and the place is reasonably priced for a bar in Astoria. Just like the other reviews...the service at this place is absolutely horrendous and has no place staying in business (especially in Astoria where businesses pride themselves on being part of a great community and respectful). It's sad..because it COULD be a great sports bar and place to watch sports...but its not. The bar food is average at best...you don't go here for the food. I know the manager is going to comment on this...just the other bad reviews stating the same thing...but he needs to learn that this isn't how you treat customers....they won't come back and word will get out that you're a scumbag. Here's our story. Started out with 3 of us sitting at a 4 top table for the 1pm Sunday football games. Place was empty for the 1pm games. We had 3 different waitress's during this time and had to ask for beers/service several times. We had some wings and a few beers and got the check around the 3rd qtr because we had 2 other friends joining for the giants game...bill was approx $70. So far...experience isnt too bad...but not good. We continue on for the giants game. Around half time...we have another new waitress...and she comes over and says you guys need to order more drinks. We say no problem...maybe if came over more than often than 20 mins at time...we would! I mean..we went through 2-3 beers each and some food during the 1st half. At the end of the 3rd qtr...the manager comes with the check! Unprompted! Unfreaking prompted. And says sorry guys...you weren't ordering drinks and we have reservations. Reservations?? What? Someone made a reservation for the 4th qtr of the Giants game? And the sunday night game didn't start for another hour and a half. What a scumbag move....our table was completely shocked. They were booting us off the table...after spending $250+. Our 2nd bill came to $180...about $37/person for 3 qtrs. I'm honestly still shocked from the way we were treated.. Again...I know the manager is going to comment...but you're in the wrong buddy. There's no excuses. It's obviously a common theme at this place that the customer service sucks..as there are numerous other bad reviews It's too bad...it has potential and could be an enjoyable experience. BOTTOM LINE...STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...THERES of PLENTY OF OTHER SPORTS BARS IN ASTORIA where you'll be treated like you should be. There are 3 huge separate areas to choose from depending on what you are feeling. The staff is smoking hot!(No rainbow) Very friendly and sociable. Food Rundown: Chicken Ceasar Salad- A++ (Im just a fan of caesar salads in general) Boneless Buffalo Bites Thai Chili Sauce: A Sweet Potato Tots- A+ (Who even knew these existed?? Its like small bursts of joy in your mouth each bite) I sipped on moscow mules during my stay and the bartender made them just right....In fact too right! I couldn't stop sipping on it lol. The food gets here, my $4 coke is in a plastic container with melted ice which watered it down and no straw to boot. Extremely annoyed. The Mac and cheese was way small for what i was charged but ironically enough did not have any cheese on it to speak of. It was sprinkled with bread crumbs and a cheese-ish butter sauce which was barely there. The bacon in this dish did not even amount to one single strip, it was about half of a strip and cut up into 4 squares.... These 4 squares were NOT cooked, whatsoever. Literally raw. I came here last month to watch football on a Sunday with my boyfriend and I was very disappointed with the service. We ordered a pitcher of beer and some food and the waitress only brought us 1 glass. 15-20 minutes later we had to ask a bus boy to get us one since our waitress was no where to be found. Hidden gem in the heart of Astoria! The minute you step into Sweet Spot you'll notice the large space, high ceilings, decorative lights, and unique bottle display above the bar. The space is much bigger than you'd expect, with a private event room downstairs. There are outlets and hooks all along the bar which is extremely useful and stands out from other establishments! They recently began serving dry-aged steaks which must be reserved and ordered ahead of time. I had mine with a side of creamed spinach which was delicious. This restaurant gets a 1 star for the food; however, the bottomless brunch: I have been to many bottomless brunches. I should have known adding $12 (which does add up) to an entree was suspicious. The mimosas are 90% orange juice, 10% champagne. After 10 mimosas I'm normally at least tipsy, but with these mimosas did not feel anything. When I asked the server if more champagne could be added or if I could order another drink with more alcohol, she replied that the bartender had a formula and all bottomless drinks do not have much alcohol. What is the point of doing bottomless? Now I feel sick because I drank juice full of sugar for 1.5 hours. I'm writing this review so others don't make the same mistake as my boyfriend and I did. We went to dinner at The Sweet Spot last Friday night. We were two couples. I read the reviews and decided to see for myself how this new bar was. The bar is beautiful and has a lot of charm. The employees were very friendly. The service was great and the food was delicious. I ordered the Cobb salad. I loved it. My husband ordered a skirt steak sandwich and raved about. The macaroni and cheese was delicious. Everyone was very happy with their choices. I loved all the TVs everywhere. They also have phone chargers behind the booths. Great touch. There is also room where you charge your phone to put your pocketbooks for safe keeping. They thought of everything. We look forward to going back to The Sweet Spot! read more
