Love Dillingers! Their ambience is what you'd expect of a normal corner pub. Their wings are top notch and they serve typical bar fare. Always delicious. Burger is epic. Nicely sized, juicy and priced just right. Everything is affordable, even taking into account our current economic climate. I was a tad disappointed in their "Shepard's Pie" which was really a cottage pie as it's made with beef. To be fair, it was delivery and this may have played a part but the pie was SWIMMING in grease. I had to soak it up with a napkin. Doesn't change my opinion of the place, though. Small pub on a corner in Astoria, no frills on the exterior or the interior. Quick and solid service on behalf of the bartender/server. Went in during mets post season game the other day and the atmosphere was fantastic - lots of mets fans cheering their team on. Found out that Wednesdays is $10 steak night($2 sides) and you're allowed two sides our of the three available(mashed potatoes, veggies, french fries). Steak was good and sides were also good. For $14 it is well worth the visit. I'd say about 6 beers on tap but not sure about bottle/can options. I know they have them but didn't explore. Although the areas are separate, the bar area was not noisy or rowdy, so you can still enjoy a meal there in peace. The wings were $14 for 10. I tried the Dillingers wings which is described as sweet and spicy. It almost taste like honey bbq. I also tried hot garlic wings. I wasn't a fan of it as they were too garlicky. Dillinger's is low-key one of the best pubs in Astoria. Located in the no-man's land stretch of 30th Ave, they are the epitome of a local drinking hole. What separates them from the rest of the pack is their above and beyond approach: keep things simple, be friendly to customers, have affordable drinks and food, and stay consistent. As a result, I've enjoyed almost all of my experiences here and love this place. When drinking indoors was still a thing, I was here on a semi-weekly basis taking part in their themed nights. I'm talking 25 cent wings on Tuesday, $10 skirt steaks on Wednesdays, and $5 for burgers on Thursday. The deals are too good to pass up and before the pandemic, this place would be packed on any given night of the week. It's not hard to understand why. The food isn't just affordable. What they do make, they do it pretty darn well. The wings are perfect to pair with a nice cold beer, the burgers are hearty and definitely not slouch, and their marinated skirt steaks are impressive. They're cooked just right (medium rare!) and have a killer mash accompanying the dish. And of course, the weekends feature $3 cans on Sunday and a $3 rum punch during the summer weekends. Their brunch was solid for $22 or so, and for awhile there they were offering unlimited mimosas, screw drivers, and bloody marys on top of it. Seriously, the fun never stops. Lastly, they've been doing a hell of a job with the delivery during the pandemic. Headed over to this bar later on a Wednesday night for some pub food. Kitchen is open late and plenty of seating available inside. Decided to start of with the 10-piece Hot Garlic Wings ($15). Sauce is dripping off every wing, served alongside tangy ranch and celery/carrot sticks. Slightly overcooked but the sauce covers it up - best with a bit of the ranch. Next was the Raging Cajun Burger ($12) - a medium sized patty, cheese, pickles, and spicy sauce in a regular bun. Hamburger is also overcooked, yet once again saved by the sauce. TLDR: I have only ever ordered food from this place so I can only speak to the delivery experience. Will nickel and dime you aggressively for small asks. They make it up as they go along so you could be nonsensically up charged for a dish when one that is comparable is cheaper. There are some bar food items that are better than others. They make a decent burger, but sometimes you do bite into something hard, so don't believe the beef to be the best quality. Call outs are the containers in which they put to-go food is plastic and no holes are poked to allow hot food items to breathe. Due to the build up of condensation, food often arrives wet and crispy/fried items super soggy. I once tried their 'marinated" skirt steak which they boast is marinated for 7 days...I highly doubt that. Steak was chewy and tough and not a good cut of meat. It is served with mashed potatoes, onion strings and vegetables. I wanted to try the BBQ ribs one day which they boast are 'fall off the bone' and are served with macaroni salad and sweet potato fries. I did not want the sides offered, so asked if I could substitute the carb and vegetable in this dish for steamed vegetables and mashed potatoes. I was told by Michael that they would have to charge me extra, but the manager wasn't there to approve it. I asked how much more and he mentioned he would try to do it on the app. When he attempted he said that they app would not let him go up to $10. I was surprised that they were willing to charge me an addtl $10 bucks, which was a comparable price to the steak dish. They were also unable to adhere to my request of poking holes in the container to allow my food to breathe. Call back a few days later to try again. A man with a heavy accent..I am guessing the manager said that i could select the steak dish and write in the notes that I would like the ribs. He then said he would have to charge a bit more because they don't usually do this. I asked how much more and he said $3. I am not sure when steak became less expensive than pork. I explained that if they are unwilling to make simple substitutions, they should at least offer sides to be purchased a la carte. After everything was said and done the dry ribs, that were indeed not fall off the bone amounted to $34.27. I made sure to call him back to say that the price gouging was truly ridiculous give the quality of food that was delivered. He said he was trying to do me a favor and that is typically why they don't do substitutions. It was really all bullshit considering it wasn't a 'favor', but an attempt to be greedy and unaccommodating within reason. I came here with a couple of friends late on a Wednesday night to try their special of 16 oz marinated skirt steak for $10. In order to get the steak for $10, you have to order something else from the menu for at least $10. One of my friends and I decided to share the steak and also ordered the Stuffed Chicken Special which was approximately $14. The waiter took our order without a problem and our steak came out in a timely manner. However, when we were served the steak, the owner informed us in a rude tone of voice and manner that the Stuffed Chicken does not count toward the $10 steak deal and we will be charged the full amount for the steak. I asked him where this was written and he just pointed to the page detailing the steak special, which did not indicate that specials are not included in the deal. I then let him know we didn't want the stuffed chicken and that we would pick something else. He replied that the stuffed chicken was almost done being made. How convenient. It would have been nice if we were told this ahead of time. Instead of making this into a bigger issue, my friend graciously said she would purchase something to go so that we could get the $10 steak. Since we were forced to spend more money, the steak special was no longer a good deal. The owner was not sympathetic at all, but the waiter at least apologized for the confusion. That being said, the damage was already done and though there are different deals for brunch and each day of the week, I already made up my mind that I won't be returning. The food was decent though. The steak didn't come with any sauce or sides, but was still quite tasty. It was huge with crispy onion on top. We could definitely tell that the steak had been marinated and it was extremely flavorful, though a bit dry and tough. I also got to try the appetizer of french fries with melted cheddar, bacon and sour cream. This was really good. Delightful fluffy fries with great potato flavor, crispy bacon, melty cheese and plenty of sour cream. My friend and I shared the Stuffed Chicken, which I think was even better than the steak. The chicken was stuffed with cheese and had a white mushroom sauce accompanying it. There were also mashed potatoes and broccoli, carrots and green beans. I've visited Dillinger's multiple times since I moved to Astoria over 12 years ago but I was somewhat disappointed with my last visit on 25 cent wing night (Tuesday). Just a note that they offer 25 cent wings but there are a thousand fine prints, not all flavor of wings are part of the special, and they even charge you for the sauce which comes in a tiny cup. This isn't something new and it's not part of my complaint, I just wanted everyone to be aware of all restrictions and extras. I just hope they don't start charging for napkins and to use the restrooms. I totally understand people need to drink so the restaurant can make money because if people go there, eat 20 wings and drink water, they would end up spending a little over 10 bucks. But my friends and I always drink a lot of beer, we order multiple pitchers of beers and our bill is always 80% drinks / 20% food. But last night the waiters were very systematic. We were in a group of 5, we ordered a pitcher for 4 of us and one person ordered a bottled beer. Since we drink a lot, by the time the waiter came to take our food order, we ordered a second pitcher and also ordered a total of 30 wings (10 bbq, 10 buffalo, 10 hot garlic because garlic parmesan wasn't included in the special). In my opinion, ordering 30 wings for 5 people is a reasonable number to start, 6 wings each. But the waiter said he had to check if we were eligible to order 30 wings based on the number of drinks we had ordered so far. He ended up bringing the wings, and after drinking 2 other pitchers plus another bottled beer, we decided to order 20 more wings and, once again, the waiter said he had to check inside. We felt as if the restaurant was doing us a favor by giving us wings (which we were paying for). Dillinger's management, if you know how to do basic math you will see that we had 6 pitchers of beer for 4 people, (1.5 pitcher per person) and one person had 2 bottled beers. I, myself drank one and a half pitcher of beer alone. So can I have 10 wings? (50 wings for 5 people). Or is it too much to ask? Stop complicating things, I will definitely think twice before going back. If you can't keep selling wings for 25 cents just increase the price to 50 cents and treat customers better. I would definitely pay 5 dollars for 10 wings if I didn't have to almost beg to be served. Our bill was over 150 bucks total so as you can see we did spend money! (Note to other fellow Yelpers. This bar has amazing French fries! I'm literally addicted. They are thick and delicious. Not only do they have the best French fries, I always order their chicken Caesar wrap. They never leave you hanging with the chicken either. It's always stuffed very nicely with lots of chicken. I have had chicken caesar wraps from a lot of places and this is the top one. Besides the food being delicious, the customer service is great. They have an amazing employee who even remembers me when I come in. Especially because I always order an extra side of Caesar. (It doesn't need it , but I always do it just in case.) They are so friendly and make you feel like family. We were just looking for a place to keep the night going; somewhere to grab a drink before heading home. We happened upon Dillinger's, which looked to be an ordinary sports bar, but in the best way. The first thing I saw upon walking in was a guy wearing a Mets jacket over a Rangers t-shirt. Some people are just born with that innate sense of style; this was a man who understood the importance of layering. Immediately, I knew I was going to like it here. It is clearly a neighborhood spot. The bartender was sweet, and you could tell she cared about her regulars. Everyone around us was engaged in friendly conversation; they kept to themselves, but weren't standoffish. There was a nice variety on tap, so we had a few pints, watched some basketball, and left a stack of losing Quick Draw cards behind, piled haphazardly like so many broken dreams. I had the dry brunch (I had a major headache so I didn't think drinking after taking 4 motrin was really the best decision). They serve you mini bagels upon seating, and i only had part of one, but it was a real bagel, not some sort of joke bagel from a grocery store. My bill cost me $11.95, and it was worth it. My co-worker had the unlimited cocktail brunch, and hers cost around $19.95 (after tax). The bar was kind of cramped, but the back, where we sat, was nice and enclosed, which is definitely nice considering that it was pouring rain. Might be a good spot if you are a trendy 20 something and like to make faces and sneer at anyone who isn't, but If you are over 60 or have kids under 12 they hustle you to the back room where you have a choice of sitting by the bathroom door or the kitchen door. First time trying this place after seeing a friend post pictures on Superbowl Sunday of their Buffalo Wings. Having grown up very close to Buffalo I thought I should give the wings a try. I got the moderately priced 18 piece, medium hotness, and I also got the house salad. I showed up and was greeted very kindly by a staff member. Food was ready to be picked up the moment I got there, and I was on my way. The wings were absolutely perfect. Jumbo style with just the right amount of kick.
