Ruined Bavarian cream doughnut by staff carelessness
    Dennis L.

Spacious bakery without an espresso machine with a large selection of French, Italian, and and American deserts. It was delightful to see such a wide selection of fantastic looking goodies. We tried the Bavarian cream doughnut and a cannoli. The doughnut was delicious with medium density dough and not overly sweet cream. The cannoli looks equally appetizing, and saving it for later. The disappointment was with the service. Our doughnut was thrown into a white paper bag so that the ganache covered top was mangled, and the bag had ganache smeared on top. When asked to change the package, the person chose to double bag or re-bag the ruined doughnut. While small, such careless attitude with no customers but us ruined our experience

Sweet T's is one of my favorite local small businesses! It's super cute inside and they are always fully decorated for every occasion! Their staff is young but very helpful and customer service oriented! I've never been disappointed in anything from here! They had a great selection for Paczki fest, Superbowl and Mardi Gras! They had delicious looking favorites (cookies ,brownies etc) as well! Definitely stop by for a SWEET treat!

    1lb. Holiday cookies

Well, bless their hearts. Today, my husband and I drove from Bartlett to Arlington Heights in an effort to find a bakery that made the best holiday cookies to share during our son's holiday party. Based on the online customer reviews of Sweet T's, we decided that it would be worth the drive. After all, who doesn't enjoy delicious and beautiful sweets. When we entered the bakery, there were only two other customers who were being cheerfully served. However, we noticed there were four other employees standing behind the counter all looking at us, but none offering assistance. We waited patiently for someone to acknowledge us. Not one of the girls did. The longer we stood at the counter, the more it became evident based on their lack of eye contact and nonverbal body language that we were not welcomed patrons. We waited in the mostly empty bakery watching the employees give us the side eye for about 5 minutes. So...I told my husband that if none of the employees approached us within the next thirty seconds, then we would leave without purchasing anything. Just then, an employee reluctantly approached us. She explained the different assortment of items and once I made a selection she boxed up my items and I was able to complete my transaction. I had initially intended to purchase more items, but the lack luster customer service caused me to fully rethink that decision. Once home, I did sample both the 1lb holiday cookie assortment and the coffee cake. Both of which were MEH. To be honest, I am not sure if the experience influenced my taste buds, but after I shared the sample and the story with my neighbors, they all agreed with my assessment. MEH. We agreed that Jarosch and Sauer's Bakery items both tasted better and came without the side of poor customer service. Needless to say, we won't be driving back nor could we in good conscience recommend this establishment to family or friends. I wouldn't want anyone to be treated in that manner. After all, the only color that an employee should be concerned with is green.

Sweet T's bakery did an amazing job with my son's birthday cake. The cake came out to be exactly what I want. The whole process to order the cake was very simple and pleasant, reasonable pricing, and the cake also tastes incredible. I am very happy and would totally recommend Sweet T's Bakery & Cake Studio!

Cakes and pastries and are amazing. It is our new favorite place. The cake is so perfectly balanced not to moist or dry it's just right. The flavor of the filling beyond excellent We had a fudge and a I get Raspberry moose or something. The first cake was a raspberry jam. All our cakes will be coming from here. My only grip is. I am not artistic. I want yo order a cute cake and said make me a cute birthday or anniversary or what ever and they say like what I am not the decorator I said yellow they said what color yellow. I will not be the one ordering I will pawn this off on another family member. I will be picking up the cakes and paying. But the struggle to order was my nightmare.

    Sweet TS wedding cake

Huge shout out to Tammy for the amazing cake she made for my daughter's wedding. It was absolutely stunning and tasted delicious too. We have been a regular customer of Sweet TS for all special occasions and holidays. They never disappoint.

    Snowman cookies, very cute!

I was in the area running some errands this morning and saw this bakery. Looked them up quick to find it was highly rated. Picked up a few treats for a party in the evening.. would only go back for the frosted cookies. The cupcakes were dense and dry, frosting was decent but sweet. I asked about the macaroons flavors, and from their answers it seemed as if they don't actually make them there. They said something along the lines of "those are the old ones we used to get.." which sounds weird. They also charge the same price for regular sized macaroons vs their mini ones. Which is very strange as they're half the size of the regular ones, but ok.. It's a cute store, but I'm not sure how much is actually made in house. It seems their focus is more on donuts/breakfast pastries. I asked for a blueberry muffin for breakfast and was offered a frozen one.. no thanks. The cookies were soft and individually wrapped. The frosting was still setting so hopefully that means they're more fresh! 5 stars for the cookies, 2 stars overall.

We recently diverged from our usuals and tried the sando with pork katsu. It had some shredded vegetable and ketchup-base sauce. I am indifferent to it but I am not opposed to trying the other savory items. We have gone on different days and times over the years. The shelves are almost always well-stocked. Sometimes we would have a brief wait for them to replenish the raisin bread loaves but it is the mister's favorite so it is worth it. The bakery staff are very friendly and quick so the lines are kept moving.

This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.

Initial impression wasn't great... The smell was really the main reason why. The shop itself definitely had a smell, I can't really describe what it was but it was not pleasant. There was one person working, he was polite but did not have much personality. Most of our questions were met with him telling us that we ordered "over there" as he points to the register. It just did not have a very welcoming energy. Only of our kids got ice cream as the flavors did not catch them like they had hoped it would. My Youngest got a coconut ice cream with waffle cone (she loved it), it was a subtle coconut flavor but very refreshing. My oldest daughter got a match drink w boba, hers was also good but not her favorite. I ended up getting the soft serve mix (Tofu/Black Sesame) which was definitely unique and I did enjoy it but no one else i was with did. After checking out, we were offered free stickers which was a nice gesture and I talked about their Japanese Car theme which seemed to liven up the man working momentarily. My family was not impressed but I enjoyed the experience. Very unique compared to what we are used to seeing. I would most likely return, but I am not confident my family would follow.
