It has taken me almost 4 years to do this review and I'm not sure why. The last time I was here I had ordered a custom cake for her birthday and it turned out absolutely fantastic. So I came by here again to pick up some goodies before a flight because I was planning on bringing it on the flight. And when I walked in, I realized I had done a complete renovation of the inside which looks fantastic. As usual everything is super eye catching great photographs although I did not take lots of photographs of the ambience or the interior decor but definitely do that when you visit here. Everything is super fresh very cute and definitely taste homemade and clean. You can tell from the box picture I picked up five different pastries that happen to be in the cases and available that particular day. Was super excited to try and got a lot of things. 6 cupcakes, carrot cake, pineapple upside down cake, pecan roll, and peach cobbler. The strawberry cheese cupcake was good. Tje peach cobbler was decent. The Oreo cupcake was okay. It wasn't bad but it tasted like it came right out of a box. Coconut cupcake was just a chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting dipped in coconut flakes. Meh. The carrot cake was an absolute no. So so dry as well as frosting. No cream cheese frosting or nuts. More like a dry bread with icing. My boyfriend tried the pineapple cake and likes almost everything. Spit it out immediately. The texture and taste were very off putting. We tried the Bavarian cream doughnut and a cannoli. The doughnut was delicious with medium density dough and not overly sweet cream. The cannoli looks equally appetizing, and saving it for later. The disappointment was with the service. Our doughnut was thrown into a white paper bag so that the ganache covered top was mangled, and the bag had ganache smeared on top. Well, bless their hearts. Today, my husband and I drove from Bartlett to Arlington Heights in an effort to find a bakery that made the best holiday cookies to share during our son's holiday party. Based on the online customer reviews of Sweet T's, we decided that it would be worth the drive. After all, who doesn't enjoy delicious and beautiful sweets. When we entered the bakery, there were only two other customers who were being cheerfully served. However, we noticed there were four other employees standing behind the counter all looking at us, but none offering assistance. We waited patiently for someone to acknowledge us. Not one of the girls did. The longer we stood at the counter, the more it became evident based on their lack of eye contact and nonverbal body language that we were not welcomed patrons. We waited in the mostly empty bakery watching the employees give us the side eye for about 5 minutes. So...I told my husband that if none of the employees approached us within the next thirty seconds, then we would leave without purchasing anything. Just then, an employee reluctantly approached us. She explained the different assortment of items and once I made a selection she boxed up my items and I was able to complete my transaction. I had initially intended to purchase more items, but the lack luster customer service caused me to fully rethink that decision. Once home, I did sample both the 1lb holiday cookie assortment and the coffee cake. Both of which were MEH. To be honest, I am not sure if the experience influenced my taste buds, but after I shared the sample and the story with my neighbors, they all agreed with my assessment. MEH. We agreed that Jarosch and Sauer's Bakery items both tasted better and came without the side of poor customer service. Needless to say, we won't be driving back nor could we in good conscience recommend this establishment to family or friends. I wouldn't want anyone to be treated in that manner. I had a terrible experience at sweet T's Bakery. On Wednesday at 11:13am I called to have a 6 inch cake made for today. I followed up with an email once the phone call ended to provide inspiration photos. Today, I went to the bakery only for the order to not be found. I of course got a little frustrated because I needed the cake for this morning. The baker/decorater came out to speak to me who is the owner of the bakery, Tammy Montesinos, and asked me how did I place the order on Wednesday. I re-explained to her that I called and then followed up with an email with 3 inspiration photos. She kept on repeating that "I needed to call the bakery in order to place the order." I kept repeating that I did call and followed up with an email. She then proceeded to slam her binder on the counter top, screamed out "You are a B****" and walked away. I was floored and shocked. I asked the young ladies who were working there for the managers email and they responded with quite the attitude "that is public information" While I never write bad reviews, this I could not let slide. They have a bit of everything--cakes, cupcakes, and cake pops, of course; also tarts, cookies, brownies and blondies, doughnuts, sweet rolls, danishes, coffee cake, and probably more. On my last visit, 60% of the case was occupied by fancy-looking paczkis in at least a dozen flavors. (They do sandwich-style rather than filled.) Obviously that is seasonal. It's all good! I mean, I haven't tried everything, but based on a decent sample size they do everything well. A few things I wouldn't get again, such as the cookies and brownies, just because they are merely good compared to some of the other really stellar offerings. My favorites have been the pecan roll and the chocolate-caramel tart. They also carry my beloved apple fritters (sometimes), which I'd rate in the A- range. They do get very busy on the weekends, and it can seem that the line moves slowly. You have people picking up custom cakes as well as everyone else who is staring into the case, trying to decide what to get out of 557 tempting offerings. I am not artistic. I want yo order a cute cake and said make me a cute birthday or anniversary or what ever and they say like what I am not the decorator I said yellow they said what color yellow. This review is long overdue... First, I requested an estimate for two cakes and received an expeditious response. They were polite and answered all my questions prior to me committing to my order. When I went to the actual bakery to place my order, I felt a little frustrated as they were a little busy at the moment, there were two young ladies that could have asked me if I needed help, but I had to wait on the cashier to finish helping the other people, which was fine but I feel like there should be a section strictly for orders, just my opinion. The young lady that helped with taking my order was quite helpful and polite! She confirmed everything with me, they allowed me to sample some items to help with my decision on the cake and the cream, the owner Tammy came out introduced herself and also confirmed the design with me, I thought this was very nice of her! They were very accommodating in terms of me picking up the cake. I was nervous about the cake, the design I wanted was a bit much and you always wonder how the cake is going to come out, but let me just tell you our cake was fantastic, it was the talk at my son's party and not only was it beautiful it was delicious!! Overall I believe a review should be about the actual product or service which is why I'm giving the five stars because I truly was satisfied with my cake! I hope that they do apply my feedback about a dedicated "order only station" since the bakery is small and can get quite busy, I was with my toddler so a 15 to 20 minute wait feels like an eternity. I was in the area running some errands this morning and saw this bakery. Looked them up quick to find it was highly rated. Picked up a few treats for a party in the evening.. would only go back for the frosted cookies. The cupcakes were dense and dry, frosting was decent but sweet. I asked about the macaroons flavors, and from their answers it seemed as if they don't actually make them there. They said something along the lines of "those are the old ones we used to get.." which sounds weird. They also charge the same price for regular sized macaroons vs their mini ones. Which is very strange as they're half the size of the regular ones, but ok.. It's a cute store, but I'm not sure how much is actually made in house. It seems their focus is more on donuts/breakfast pastries. I asked for a blueberry muffin for breakfast and was offered a frozen one.. no thanks. The cookies were soft and individually wrapped. Decided to give the bakery another chance and service has improved. They again are featuring those yummy Elderberry cupcakes from the Royal Wedding season and those we were the goods that brought me back! Since then I've been back multiple times for other delicious treats for the family. My sons love the decorated cookies and donuts. A customer ahead of me ordered some cupcakes and the worker tending to the customer had just handled some money at the cash register and started to handle the cupcakes for the customer by using her bare hands. She did not wash her hands or don new or any gloves. Definitely not hygienic and not what you should do when handling food. I don't know if the cupcakes are any good because I left after seeing that. First time coming here and if this is how they handle dishing out the sweets, it is unacceptable and probably against local health codes when it comes to handling food. Because of Sweet T's, my daughter's 20th birthday has been wonderful! We walked in and were greeted immediately. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. My daughter didn't really have a particular design she wanted on her birthday cake, but she did mention to them that she wanted daisies. We also asked that the cake be her favorite color, which is mint green. On the order sheet, the girl who took our order wrote down "make it cute" which my daughter and I thought was adorable. When we picked up the cake, we were very pleased to see how gorgeous the cake was! My daughter even mentioned that it was her favorite birthday cake she's ever gotten. Sweet T's is a charming bakery that offers a variety of fabulous treats, but they are definitely expensive compared to other bakeries. We recently ordered a birthday cake and several cookies to be used as favors. While both were fresh and delicious, I specifically asked for the cake color to be pale pink, and the result was a bright hot pink color. I looked back at the notes that the store associate wrote on the order form, and she indicated "pale"--so perhaps there is a language barrier? If you place a special order for an event, I would highly suggest providing a picture of what it is you want because it seems that they use colors that they like and don't necessarily honor your request.
