Ruined Bavarian cream doughnut by staff carelessness
    Dennis L.

Spacious bakery without an espresso machine with a large selection of French, Italian, and and American deserts. It was delightful to see such a wide selection of fantastic looking goodies. We tried the Bavarian cream doughnut and a cannoli. The doughnut was delicious with medium density dough and not overly sweet cream. The cannoli looks equally appetizing, and saving it for later. The disappointment was with the service. Our doughnut was thrown into a white paper bag so that the ganache covered top was mangled, and the bag had ganache smeared on top. When asked to change the package, the person chose to double bag or re-bag the ruined doughnut. While small, such careless attitude with no customers but us ruined our experience

Sweet T's is one of my favorite local small businesses! It's super cute inside and they are always fully decorated for every occasion! Their staff is young but very helpful and customer service oriented! I've never been disappointed in anything from here! They had a great selection for Paczki fest, Superbowl and Mardi Gras! They had delicious looking favorites (cookies ,brownies etc) as well! Definitely stop by for a SWEET treat!

    1lb. Holiday cookies

Well, bless their hearts. Today, my husband and I drove from Bartlett to Arlington Heights in an effort to find a bakery that made the best holiday cookies to share during our son's holiday party. Based on the online customer reviews of Sweet T's, we decided that it would be worth the drive. After all, who doesn't enjoy delicious and beautiful sweets. When we entered the bakery, there were only two other customers who were being cheerfully served. However, we noticed there were four other employees standing behind the counter all looking at us, but none offering assistance. We waited patiently for someone to acknowledge us. Not one of the girls did. The longer we stood at the counter, the more it became evident based on their lack of eye contact and nonverbal body language that we were not welcomed patrons. We waited in the mostly empty bakery watching the employees give us the side eye for about 5 minutes. So...I told my husband that if none of the employees approached us within the next thirty seconds, then we would leave without purchasing anything. Just then, an employee reluctantly approached us. She explained the different assortment of items and once I made a selection she boxed up my items and I was able to complete my transaction. I had initially intended to purchase more items, but the lack luster customer service caused me to fully rethink that decision. Once home, I did sample both the 1lb holiday cookie assortment and the coffee cake. Both of which were MEH. To be honest, I am not sure if the experience influenced my taste buds, but after I shared the sample and the story with my neighbors, they all agreed with my assessment. MEH. We agreed that Jarosch and Sauer's Bakery items both tasted better and came without the side of poor customer service. Needless to say, we won't be driving back nor could we in good conscience recommend this establishment to family or friends. I wouldn't want anyone to be treated in that manner. After all, the only color that an employee should be concerned with is green.

Sweet T's bakery did an amazing job with my son's birthday cake. The cake came out to be exactly what I want. The whole process to order the cake was very simple and pleasant, reasonable pricing, and the cake also tastes incredible. I am very happy and would totally recommend Sweet T's Bakery & Cake Studio!

Cakes and pastries and are amazing. It is our new favorite place. The cake is so perfectly balanced not to moist or dry it's just right. The flavor of the filling beyond excellent We had a fudge and a I get Raspberry moose or something. The first cake was a raspberry jam. All our cakes will be coming from here. My only grip is. I am not artistic. I want yo order a cute cake and said make me a cute birthday or anniversary or what ever and they say like what I am not the decorator I said yellow they said what color yellow. I will not be the one ordering I will pawn this off on another family member. I will be picking up the cakes and paying. But the struggle to order was my nightmare.

    Sweet TS wedding cake

Huge shout out to Tammy for the amazing cake she made for my daughter's wedding. It was absolutely stunning and tasted delicious too. We have been a regular customer of Sweet TS for all special occasions and holidays. They never disappoint.

This review is long overdue... First, I requested an estimate for two cakes and received an expeditious response. They were polite and answered all my questions prior to me committing to my order. When I went to the actual bakery to place my order, I felt a little frustrated as they were a little busy at the moment, there were two young ladies that could have asked me if I needed help, but I had to wait on the cashier to finish helping the other people, which was fine but I feel like there should be a section strictly for orders, just my opinion. The young lady that helped with taking my order was quite helpful and polite! She confirmed everything with me, they allowed me to sample some items to help with my decision on the cake and the cream, the owner Tammy came out introduced herself and also confirmed the design with me, I thought this was very nice of her! They were very accommodating in terms of me picking up the cake. I was nervous about the cake, the design I wanted was a bit much and you always wonder how the cake is going to come out, but let me just tell you our cake was fantastic, it was the talk at my son's party and not only was it beautiful it was delicious!! Overall I believe a review should be about the actual product or service which is why I'm giving the five stars because I truly was satisfied with my cake! I hope that they do apply my feedback about a dedicated "order only station" since the bakery is small and can get quite busy, I was with my toddler so a 15 to 20 minute wait feels like an eternity. I plan on doing business with this establishment in the future, you can tell they bake with love, just look at our cake!

    Snowman cookies, very cute!

We recently diverged from our usuals and tried the sando with pork katsu. It had some shredded vegetable and ketchup-base sauce. I am indifferent to it but I am not opposed to trying the other savory items. We have gone on different days and times over the years. The shelves are almost always well-stocked. Sometimes we would have a brief wait for them to replenish the raisin bread loaves but it is the mister's favorite so it is worth it. This has been my routine for decades, yet I just realized that I had never actually left a rating for it. What makes this bakery especially appealing is its soft, airy, and smooth bread and buns, which are handmade using ingredients sourced directly from Japan. My personal favorite is the red bean bun. While my sister loves their sandwiches and milk bread, which has an incredibly soft, fluffy, and moist texture. All of their bread and buns are made fresh daily. Many years ago, they even allowed their staff to take home any unsold sandwiches and bread at the end of the day! With increasing competition from newer Korean and Taiwanese bakeries, I hope Pastry House Hippo continues to stay competitive. As a self-serve bakery, it would be nice if the buns were individually wrapped, something many other bakeries already do, to help prevent contamination from careless customers. My most recent visit was on the second day of the new year, and I was happy to see the shop bustling with customers. I hope this little bakery continues to thrive for many years to come.

The new location is in a brand-new building, and their coffee selection has expanded as well. Their butter cookies are the best I've ever had, and it's difficult to leave without a box. Sometimes I even buy two boxes--one to eat on the way home and another to share with my wife when I get there. They have delicious, fresh donuts every day, and I especially love the donut holes they sell on Fridays. I also love that they carry Ideal Bakery's kolaczki and some of their other products. They offer fresh bread that they can slice for you when you order, or you can take it home unsliced. The staff is extremely friendly and patient while taking your order, and they never make you feel rushed, even when there's a line of customers. I ordered a cake and a dessert table from them for a party, and they did an amazing job. Salma was incredibly helpful throughout the process, offering recommendations and assisting us with our order. Stop going to the chain coffee joints and try a small place that needs us. I preordered a little leas than $100 worth of cakes, pies, and pastries so I grabbed some of the cookies to make it $100. The butter cookies are $33 a lb. Ouch! As soon as you take a bite they fall apart and crumble everywhere. The kids didn't like the taste and didn't eat any of them, a waste of $12. No prices anywhere other than the boxed goods or coffee signs. 4% fee for using a credit card which I get, but have it posted better. Couple small signs I caught over by the fresh stuff saying price tags reflect cash price, but yet didn't see prices anywhere other than on shelves by boxed stuff. Have prices posted. French silk pie was very thick and not very chocolaty. No one really cared for it, def would not get again. I looked back at receipt after I left and see a random charge for "open retail" for $3.12, no clue what that is. So was over charged for something I didn't get.

Upon my first visit on a Thursday for lunch, the waitress Nur provided excellent service to our table. She was patient, pleasant, and provided answers to our many questions. Just loved her service with a smile and uplifting energy. My friends and I ate hard and everyone enjoyed their food. I tried the lentil soup which was wonderful and I had the mushroom guvec with rice on the side that was delicious. We were served tea as an after dinner refresher which was nice. We noticed the bakery on the way out and they had so many treats ready to be ordered and taken home. The second visit was terrible. I came for lunch on a Tuesday and it wasn't busy. The lahmacon is offered as a lunch special and I asked if I could have the cheesemacon for the special. It's the same version with just cheese and no meat. My waiter Jamal straight told me no. I found that very odd so I inquired further because they are the same price on the menu and it's without meat. The answer still didn't change. I simply had a few more questions about other menu items and Jamal seemed agitated by then. He was not even trying to be nice. I ordered two entrees. I paid full price for the cheesemacon and had a pide with kashkaval cheese. Jamal brought my food and NEVER came back to my table. I watched him provide service to all the other tables during that time. I was fine and didn't need anything, but I didn't deserve to be treated that way for being pleasantly inquisitive. I really felt bothered by this because out of all my years of eating out, I never felt that a server treat me poorly personally for being myself. I've had bad service before just because the service is bad overall and that is different. I like the food so I reluctantly returned for a third time and had breakfast. Service was standard and the food was good. My mushroom omelette was fine. The traditional french toast was solid. This review should be one star but it is four without Jamal.
