We have eaten in Peruvian restaurants and cafes all over North America. Here, the flavors were familiar but amazingly well-executed. We had these treats: Lucuma-chocolate cheesecake -- not too sweet, either flavor/layer; this is just a smooth caramel flavor derived from the lucuma fruit plus the real chocolate layers. Lucuma milkshake -- not too sweet, just a creamy caramel-flavor profile again derived from, counterintuitively, a fruit. Arroz con leche / rice pudding -- delicious, creamy, and a little thin compared to the American counterpart (tends to be thicker consistency); this has cinnamon and a little bit of spiced orange. My wife said it reminded her of her mother's arroz con leche. Little box of alfajores -- we didn't try them yet. This place is 10/10 especially if you are a discerning Peruvian food eater.

The service was great and everyone was very cordial and welcoming. I also loved the ambience. Seeing all the Nicaraguan decorations, products, and little mementos throughout the bakery made me feel very nostalgic and even a little melancholic. It reminded me of home and brought back so many wonderful memories. Everything we tried was delicious. We bought the torta de leche, which was absolutely delicious, along with ponolillo, picos, cajeta de leche, and many other traditional Nicaraguan pastries and treats. The flavors are authentic and comforting, and there is such a great variety of Nicaraguan favorites. This is a good place to find a variety of dulces nicas and they sell marquesote now, too, but I can't vouch for how good it will all be. Some stuff is good and some is far from it. Once they sold my friend a bag of viejitas with every single bit of the things broken all up. Every bag was like that. Not cool. I went there for my beloved queque nica today since Carne Asada didn't have any and I was sorely let down. It was so dry and bland and the frosting was chock full of sugar crystals!! It hadn't even been creamed to a fluffy homogenous blend like it should've been. That's just not accepable... It's kinda bad when you are a bakery and the fritanga down the street has cake that is of infinitely better quality. Get your queque nica at Carne Asada or don't get it at all. Period. The only reason I rate it as ok is because they have a wide variety of nica supplies and the hours are pretty convenient, considering it's a bakery. They are open at least until 7 or 8.

They have a nice crispness on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside and out. Their flavors are original, ham and cheese, custard, nutella, dulce de leche, & kinder creme. You order by the dozen. Each one is about $2 to $3 each and the size of your palm. They are a good size consider how wonderful the flavor is. They deliver to the Tampa Bay Area, and also you can pick up in Clearwater Safety Harbor area. So far I have had their custard cream, ham and cheese, & dulce de leche. They are all amazing and it's not even possible to pick a favorite. Definitely check them out! You will love them, and Courtney is very friendly & helpful!
