I was a first timer to sugaring and hadn't waxed in over ten years, so I was pretty nervous going to SweetSpahh, knowing it was going to hurt badly (underarms and legs). Although I'm not a fan of hair removal of any kind (I have thick, deep rooted hair), Marianne was very accommodating to my lack of experience, even after I gave up halfway through our first appointment (through no fault of hers). However, I was so impressed with the results that I made another appointment the following week for her to finish the job. I've been going back ever since. Now that my hairs are getting thinner, the process hurts much much less now. And Marianne has been so flexible with my schedule. UPDATE: Marianne has moved to a new location, which also gets 5 stars and is a huge improvement over her old location. And Marianne is still as fun as ever. First of all, its in a GREAT area of Kirkland, so I was happy to walk around since I got there 30 mins early. Marianne was very nice and thorough. She examined all my hair lengths (I came in for my underarms, full leg, and extended bikini) and decided that my leg hair had some that were too short, and she didn't want to sugar me if it meant that it would leave some hair behind, so we postponed the full leg sugaring for two weeks. I REALLY appreciate that. As for the treatment itself- yes, it hurts. I've never had my underarm or bikini area done before, but I have waxed my legs before and feel that the sugaring is a little less painful. Weirdly, it almost hurts just as much when the sugar is being spread onto your hairs as when it gets ripped off, but I think I'll stick with sugaring from now on. Its just warm, never hot like wax, and did a good job. I did get little pinpricks of blood where the hairs had been pulled out, but she told me that its normal for the first time, and she sprayed a soothing spray on afterwards that calmed it down. I already made my next appointment, and will keep coming back here, for the good service, great location, and good prices. Only cons: I didn't get any free panties like some other reviewer said she got (i was offered disposable ones to wear... which I declined cause I figured they would just get in the way), and it took me a little bit to find the place, its set back in a hallway with other businesses, so you don't see it from the street. read more

Waxing is a painful and unpleasant business. You want the very best service. After trying many Eastside businesses, I've settled on Marianne and Sweet Spahh. Overall, Marianne is awesome and I'll be going back to her. I'll go over the (+) and then the not so great observations. (+) Sugaring is definitely a lower temperature process. If you've been burnt before or have sensitive skin, this is the way to go. (+) Marianne is fast. She wont let you suffer too long. (+) She is very thorough, and unlike other estheticians I've met, she really focuses on her job while she's at it. (+) I do feel that the pain was much lesser as compared to regular waxing (+) The healing after the sugaring process was much faster. (+) The location is very convenient. Lots of parking around. Now for the 'stuff that can be done better' part: (*) The place isn't very well advertised. I kept staying away from the Spa because the name on the door front said Flawless Tan. So try to arrive early and get to the right place. (*) Perhaps she had the window open, but I could hear a men talking in the street, it did make me self-conscious. (*) I wish she'd hang curtains blocking the door to the treatment room. All I have to say is, if you haven't tried sugaring DO IT! It is far less painful than waxing and is alot more effective! Marianne did a wonderful job. She is so easy to talk to. We talked so much that we actually ended up having mutual friends! She is passionate about sugaring and is very thorough. Overall, I was very satisfied with my experience at SweetSpahh. I went and had a brazilian done with Marianne. She was very informative and accommodating. Hair removal is a painful process no matter what, but the sugaring was much less significant and FAR less irritation post sugaring. With regular waxing I had far more breakage and pain. With this sugaring experience it has made me a believer. Less pain and beautiful results! I will definitely be going back! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because of the location. It was a very small space and a lot of choas going on as far as the spray tanning business was going. Aside from that, I was very faund of my experience. Recently I moved to the eastside and thought I would try a place closer to home. There isn't many places that sugar over here, so i decided to go to this one. BIG MISTAKE! First, she was rude. I went in for an eyebrow and bikini. When she finished my eyebrows she left me in the room so that I can strip,etc. Well she left me in there for a 1/2 hour while she made phone calls to clients! Second, she tore me up! Like I said before I have been sugaring for years so I am used to being pulled down there. She said I had too tough of hair... ? Third, my bikini was uneven! She didn't even do my whole bikini area! I was going on a trip to mexico and I left with and uneven bikini line that my suit didn't even cover. I drove all the way to the sweet spot and had them fix me up. I ended up with a million ingrown hairs from that one session at this place. I recently have just finally gotten rid of my ingrown hair issue. This woman profits on the eastside because there aren't many places over here that sugar yet. I've always done traditional waxing. So when I saw SweetSpahh, I decided to try sugaring. I must say that everything they say about it being less painful is true! I was not sore for 24-72 hours after my brazilian like I was with waxing. Plus the owner was really nice, not only did she stay late to get me in before my vacation, tried to find a place closer to were I live (I drove about 1 hour), and gave some helpful tips for ingrown hairs. I have been going here to Marianne for a couple of years for brazilian sugaring. I never have waxed before ( that area) so I can't compare. It is painful for me because I am so sensitive but she is very patient with me and give me little breaks. I now take a few advil before I go and it seems to help, after a few sessions it has got better since the hair has got thinner. I go every 4 weeks, the hair is mostly completly gone for 2 weeks and grows back in very thin. Marianne makes it a very comfortable experience and is very professional. The salon she rents a room from can be a bit over whelming sometimes with a bunch of yappy young barbi girls but she is always on time so I dont have to sit around waiting. The girl who owns the salon is nice but it just attracts a annoying crowd of girls. I highly recommend sugaring with Marianne.
