I finally was able to come to Sweetwaters ! I've been wanting to come for a while and they did not disappoint. They are so welcoming and sweet. I ordered the pistachio French Vietnamese au lait and it was so good. I love Vietnamese coffee because it's strong so that with the hit of pistachio syrup was the perfect blend. I put a little half and half in it because I prefer creamy coffee and it was delicious. I can't wait to come back and try other things on their menu. They also have a free water station and a printer if you need to print things. They also have plenty of table space for you to chat with friends, work, etc. they are definitely on my list now for go to coffee.

I wish I knew the name of my tea because I enjoyed it. It had an herb-y taste to it, which I enjoy, but the herbs could have been a tad stronger. I've tried similar spots in Atlanta and their tea was stronger when it comes to the herbs, so maybe that is just me and my personal preference. But if this is your first time trying herbal teas, then you may appreciate the gentler approach. I came here during a yelp event and met the owner who is very nice and approachable. The atmosphere is great for a study session, to complete a few work related task, or a meet and greet, things of that sort. There is also an option to host an event here. This is a place I would try again.

Beautiful establishment, very clean. That's a beautiful aesthetic and ambience here. Adequate seating and space. Great customer service and helpful baristas. My favorite was the quiche, Lemon bar and mango fruit tea. The owner was very friendly. I'd definitely go again. The raspberry cold brew was not my favorite but if you love raspberry you'd love it. The crème caramel was pretty. (Caramel Latte)

Traveling down in Columbia, SC and wanted a coffee so I stopped in here. It was a super cute place with a huge menu of drinks and items to choose from. Lots of coffees including Vietnamese coffee and also had teas and energy drink type of items. My experience was a bit off as I wanted a cold brew however they were completely out of cold brew which I found a bit odd since all their iced coffees use it as the base so that was a bit disappointing. The lady behind the counter was very nice and offered other drink options however I was a bit disappointed as I did not get refunded the amount as I paid for the cold brews which were pretty pricy and ended up with an iced americano and a normal hot drip coffee. The americano and drip coffee were tasty with good flavor however I do wish something could have been done so the amount was different and/or was aware they were out of cold brew before paying the price difference. Overall, this was a cute place and there were lots of different options to choose from and I can see this being a really nice place for people to stop in. Next time I am in SC I probably would not go out of my way to come back here and would give somewhere else a shot, however I would not be upset to get a togo coffee from here again.

Why don't I live in SC so I can go to this place all the time?!?! Dang it!!! The BEST matcha/espresso drink I may have ever had. I loved the vibe/ambiance of the place, too. I will say that service was a little bit slow. However - this was also because the line was extremely long (and likely speaks to the quality/popularity of the place). The slowness and long line would not deter me from coming here, though - rather, I'd just be prepared to wait, lol. YUM! Oh & one suggestion - add in some gluten free options for food, please :)

I won't say I'm a big coffee shop gyal but this a cool spot. Located just on the outskirts of campus. This shop has ample space for studying or just if you want to relax. It is spacious and bright. The staff were super pleasant and were willing to help me figure out what exactly I wanted. I settled on the mango fruit tea with passionfruit. It was bussin. There are also little snack options if you are not gluten free. For the gluten free gang there isn't anything to eat here... yet but hopefully it happens soon. I will return

This is the kind of cafe I'd visit when I'm trying to get work done. Plenty of natural light, a clean industrial look with plenty of seating and a diverse selection of snacks, pastries and drinks. The barista was very friendly and my americano was good, but not great. They did have a more premium espresso option which I would try if I return. Very solid cafe.

Great spot, clean and plenty of room, with a patio. Loved all the coffee we got - Chai Latte, Dirty Cold Brew, Dreamy Cold Brew, and Cold Brew - all 10/10. The staff were really nice there too! Would highly recommend over other spots we've been!

This place is a little hidden gem. It's always bustling and has quick service and options that are plenty to choose from for anyone's desire! I got the dreamy cold brew, which was very tasty and smooth. I also tried their bacon bagel breakfast sandwich (say that three times fast) and it was delicious. Close to campus and the vista/downtown, very easy and nice ambiance, cool vibes, friendly staff; this is definitely a must try for anyone who is looking to either grab a quick bite or spend some down time!

Great little spot in downtown Columbia! The latte was outstanding as well as the breakfast sandwich. Decent amount of seating inside and some outside. The service was sweet and friendly!!

They were all so sweet and really went above and beyond to make sure it was a high-quality experience. I noticed that they openly advertise that they don't accept tips and have slightly higher prices in order to pay their workers a living wage, and the results were directly reflected in the customer service that I received. As for the food and drink (coffee), that was pretty good as well! While I do wish that they might have had bagels, the croissant that I substituted it for was warm, buttery, and tasty, and it was a nice change from my usual coffee shop meal, as I've only had a croissant a handful of times. The coffee was fine, and I loved how they offered free refills, which I've noticed that other local coffee shops usually don't. Finally, I loved the setting of the restaurant, which gave you the opportunity to either sit inside and enjoy the ambiance or on the outside patio and enjoy some peace and quiet. I also loved the artwork that they had on the walls, which the waitress informed me was painted by a local artist and which you could purchase if you wanted to. All-in-all, I loved smallSUGAR, will be back in the future, and would highly recommend stopping in!

Service was fine. Nothing particularly standout, but smooth and efficient. For drinks, the coffee was average. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing memorable. Especially considering the price point. Food-wise, there were some highlights. The sweet potato bowl was well-dressed and flavorful, though it felt like it was missing a protein component to make it more complete. The shakshuka was very good overall, with great flavor, though it leaned a bit salty. The biggest issue was the bread portion. It simply wasn't enough for the dish. I ended up ordering an extra side, and while it's listed as two slices, it's really just one slice cut in half. At $4 for that portion, that is very unreasonable. That was a recurring theme. Pricing felt high across the board for what you receive. While the flavors were there, nothing really stood out as exceptional enough to justify the cost. Overall, not a bad visit. Just one where the value didn't quite match the experience.

Bison, elk, boar, rabbit. These are proteins you don't see on most menus. The restaurant leans into a woodland theme with greenery hanging throughout the space. It borders on a bit much, but the open kitchen visible from the dining room grounds the whole experience and adds a nice touch of theater. The seating was comfortable and well spaced, perfect for a family dinner where you actually want to hear each other talk. Our server was outstanding, easily 5 out of 5. She knew the menu cold, offered thoughtful recommendations, and struck that ideal balance of attentive without being intrusive. She made the evening better. The drinks were mostly a win. Two cocktails were excellent, creative and well balanced. A third was over iced and fell flat. Minor miss, but worth noting. The food is where The Hollow really shines. The charcuterie board was a fantastic start, featuring a well curated spread of wild game meats, quality cheeses, fig, and mustard. The mains delivered across the board: salmon, elk, and bison all came out beautifully with great flavor and generous portions. The sides deserved their own applause, which isn't something I say often. The dessert menu was the one soft spot. Nothing grabbed our attention, so we ended up heading across the street to Kaminsky's for something sweet. For a kitchen that puts this much care into everything else, the dessert offerings felt like an afterthought. A couple of notes on the bill to be aware of: we were charged a few dollars for swapping a vegetable side. There was a 3% credit card surcharge that caught us off guard. When you're out with the family and the tab runs into the hundreds $, most folks are paying with a card. That's a fee I'd want to know about upfront. On the menu, from the server, somewhere visible before the check arrives. The bottom line: The Hollow is a creative, well executed restaurant with standout food and excellent service. If you're in Columbia, it's well worth a reservation.

We ended up stopping at The Grand around 9/9:30pm on a Saturday. Upon entering the hostess informed us they were currently only serving the late night menu. We said no problem and elected to grab seats at the bar. There were several empty tables and a few empty seats @ the bar. However, the only two seats together at the bar needed to be cleared from the last patrons that were seated. We stood there for over 20 mins while Jacob continued to walk by never acknowledging us or the fact that we couldn't sit. When he finally cleared the dishes he just walked away, never cleaning the area. When he returned he still never greeted us or apologized for the wait, the mess... nothing. Jacob: What are you having? Me: Well hello... Jacob: Yea... what do you want? Me: Wow... ok. For starters can you please whip off the bar so we can properly have a seat. There is still food residue here from the last customers. ** we get a visible huff** He wipes down the bar and we proceed to order drinks, while he never really speak any more it's all via motions and body language. Amongst ourselves we check in with one another to confirm that we both were feeling very unwelcome. Instantly we decide that we will not be ordering anything additional and will be leaving after this one drink. Which is just as well because Jacob never returns. Someone , whom I can only assume was of a mangement status, asked if Jacob was helpful and we promptly and simultaneously said no and that we would like or bill. She shook her head in utter disbelief and disgust but then she also disappeared. Just so happened that Diamond, whom was on the other side of the bar happen to walk pass. She stopped and asked if we were ok after witnessing our frustration. We explained that we wanted the check and why we were leaving. She was super apologetic and closed out our tab. Her energy literal turned the experience around and if she would have came to our rescue sooner we would have considered staying. Thank you Diamond. Just A Note: Unfortunately, bad first impression because The Grand seems like it may offer a good time with the bowling lanes in the back.
