    Vanilla rose Italian soda
    Amanda M.

I was very confused when I first entered the building since there are two shops. The downstairs shop was having a baby shower so naturally I went up then found the sign on the wall. This is a funky spot that is directly across from the USC campus where I was. I had coffee already so I went with a vanilla rose Italian soda. I was pleased to see they had Monin syrups. They had so many options so it would be great for people that like more customization. I will say they were a little busy and the space is very tight. The baristas were a little short with people who did not move aside or did not pick up their orders right away. I did like that they featured local artists in the shop. Would recommend for one thing different.

Cool Beans is a really "cool" coffee shop, I loved it! It was very old-fashioned, but timeless at the same time. The coffee was really good, and I wish that I wasn't watching my weight because the food items looked absolutely delicious! I'll have to come back and try one some time soon. I wish that I had more to say but there's not much more to add.... 5/5, would recommend, great coffee experience!

Great coffee house near the campus, we stopped in pretty close to closing because we'd had a long day and I was in need of a reup on my coffee shop exploration of the Columbia area. I had the Irishman with oat milk, delish! Very large menu, great service! Loved the cozy vibes in here.

Great customer service! Cool environment. Upstairs and downstairs (downstairs is another business). Lots of great choices, clean and a fun vibe.

I think this is the weakest cup of coffee I have yet ordered in my life. I am not exaggerating. I got the dark roast with cream and it tastes like hot water. Service was not personable either.

Turkey, provolone, pesto, and tomato panini with garden salad and of course... a pickle!

Went here on a Monday in July, not packed at all. Staff were very friendly and helpful! The food was great and service was quick. I'd go back here everyday if I was a local. Perfect place to relax/study/work or just hangout.

Early morning coffee is always a mess for me and my partner and we decided to try out a new spot. Cool beans is definitely unique, it's an older house with an old house feel but really cute if that's your type of thing. It appears to be more of a college spot with little nooks to study. There's nice paintings on the wall which appeared to be done by local artist. The coffee was pretty nice and there are two levels to this establishment I'm not sure if they're two different entities but upstairs has more gourmet type coffee's and savory breakfast sandwiches. The coffee was pretty decent and the scones were amazing.

My go to. Coffee is amazing with a good variety (I need more Cinnamon Vanilla in my life) and great sandwiches. Vegan options available but non-vegan too. Relaxing/chill place to sit. Lots of people knocking out homework, but great convos too. The atmosphere is good. I would love here if I could.

clumps of cocoa at the bottom of the "hot cocoa"
    John N.

the vegan hot chocolate wasn't mixed at all, so it was like hot milk and chalky clumps of unsweetened cocoa and nothing else. She also only filled my cup halfway which is ridiculous because I paid $5 for a hot cocoa and got only three sips. The only reason I'm not leaving a one star review is because the portobello mushroom wrap is always consistently good but I've rarely had a drink here that wasn't a complete rip off

A very cool and awesome place to relax and have a great coffee. Very cozy and chill little spot.

My first time checking out Cool Beans and I can say that it seems like a pretty cool little spot. I was a little confused pulling in because there is another business in the same building but just walk in and go upstairs and you'll find cool beans! I got an americano with two shots and a bacon and cheese croissant because DUH bacon. I'm pretty sure I can hear colors now that my drink has kicked in The staff was very nice and welcoming and the spot was clean and neat. I'll def be visiting again !

The "Perfect Man" latte was as cozy as a warm log fire on a cold winter day with just the right amount of sweetness. I highly recommend it.

I love this place, but I can never find parking. Any parking tips?

It can be hard to find a spot during the day when school is in session. We do have a few spots in our lot in the front, and also a few behind the building.

I came in a few minutes after 10:00 a.m., the time they open, and while I don't expect a restaurant to be in tip-top shape the second they open, they did not seem at all ready for the day or to accept customers. I stood at the front for a few awkward moments before asking one of the hostesses if I was supposed to seat myself, when she replied "oh no, I'll seat you", and then led me to one of the nearby tables. Somewhat grossly, the tablecloth on the table I was seated at was covered with coffee stains from previous guests, which was kind of unsettling. I then asked for a cup of coffee, and was told that there wasn't any ready, and that I would need to wait a few minutes. Again, not a huge deal, but I would expect a breakfast restaurant to have some coffee ready by the time that they open. Second, when perusing the menu, I was not particularly impressed by their "limited breakfast" options, nor anything on their regular menu. I decided to go with a simple hot dog, and substituted the offered sides with an order of French fries, which ridiculously cost me almost $4 extra. In addition, my hot dog was fine, but nothing exceptional, and definitely not better than one I could've gotten at Costco for a markedly cheaper price. The one (1) bright spot was that the fries were very good, and of higher quality than most other fries I've gotten at similar restaurants. Finally, my server was nice enough, but a little rough around the edges and not overly attentive. In addition, the ambiance was pretty basic, with nothing about it that really stuck out. All-in-all, I wouldn't be adverse to returning to DiPratos on a Saturday or Sunday to try their breakfast menu, but I won't be coming back during the week, and wouldn't really recommend that anybody else do so either.
