The service is everything. The wait staff are some of the nicest people I know and they deliver on a personal level. The food is always good and their seasonal drinks are a fun addition. Despite the small size of the restaurant it never hindered my ability to get a seat and enjoy the bar. Parking is also super easy in this area and that was clutch during finals season for me.
Popped in while visiting the area. I was gonna be seated when I noticed the FULL BAR in the back. Yes, a breakfast spot with a full bar. The bartender, Kyla, and the entire staff were extremely nice and helpful. I had an amazing espresso martini and coffee. I also had the Mediterranean omelette. It was so good, I brought my partner back and she had the harvest omelette that was also delicious. The fresh toast was also amazing ....anddddd we had a flight! We will be back as regulars.
Expect this place to be busy, there's people coming in and out. That's probably why they have a C rating because they're so busy. That being said, wait was awhile after placing our order for food. We sat outside and I noticed that peoples orders were getting messed up and being sent back to the kitchen. I wouldn't say this restaurant is efficient, I think they need more staff. One table behind us ended up leaving and canceling their other food because of a mistake with their other order. Another table had a food allergy and were given the wrong thing. The food is delicious apart from service issues. We really enjoyed our breakfast, no complaints for the taste. I enjoyed the hot chocolate and the Bloody Mary was good as well. My plate did come with grits and I told them I didn't want them (I don't like grits) since they didn't have potatoes anymore. They gave me the grits on the side anyways and that's what's in that mini bowl.

Shabby chic decor, white washed walls, white ornate tin ceiling, salsa music softly playing, yes this is what speaks to me as the ultimate breakfast experience. It's intimate, it's unique, so many mimosas your head will spin, and then menu is culinary utopia. The service impeccable. The quality of food evident on first taste, yes this is a caliber above the others. Our server, Raj , made recommendations on what mimosas to try , what omelette to order, I let him take the reins and order for me. It was a culinary masterpiece, not to be missed. Literally if you want to enjoy a decadent breakfast or brunch, be pampered and eat first quality food this is for you. Not a lot of places in SC deliver this type of epic dining experience.. This place is the real deal in my opinion. Don't miss out on this experience.
First time trying Breakfast At Ruiz. It was definitely a great choice. We arrived right around 9:30 expecting it to be packed but there was no wait. A few tables were seated outside which is great but generally not our choice. We were seated inside and promptly greeted by our server. She was smiling and friendly asking if we had visited before or if it was our first time. She asked if we had any questions in the menu and took our drink order after explaining a few questions on the mimosas. We looked at the menu and had quite a time choosing. The menu is not the same as most breakfast places as they have they standard fare but also offer some different options. Settled on the Mediterranean omelette with potatoes and the classic breakfast with bacon. Excellent choice on both. The food arrived by a very friendly server and our server checked on us within moments. The omelet was delicious. The filling was a good amount but not too much. The cheese and sauce complimented the filling and was very tasty. The potatoes were crispy but not overdone. The classic breakfast was two pieces of French toast with bacon and eggs. All were cooked perfectly and delicious. Only needed a small amount of syrup because well French toast always needs a bit of syrup. The portions were ample yet not too much. The mimosas were a nice size and mixed in a good ratio so it was very tasty. Everyone we encountered had a smile and was friendly. Way to make a great first impression. We will return because it was good food and good service and the menu wasn't the same as any other breakfast place. Definitely had a unique vibe and menu. Haven't tried it yet? Do yourself a favor and go. Public parking behind the building on meeting street or across state street in the public lot or parking garage. Makes it easier to not search the street for a metered spot as there are few to none.
My experience here was very average. The service was good, however the restaurant itself was tiny. It is definitely not conducive to a large group outing so just know that before you go. I think if you are coming for mimosas this is a great place, however the menu was very limited. The waffle I ordered was ok, it was really sweet which i didn't love. We both ordered a side of bacon and we received one plate with 4 slices of bacon. Considering the fact that there are multiple breakfast joints in walking distance to here with plenty more seating and menu options, I probably wouldn't elect to come back here.
This place has the best service I've had in South Carolina. Their cheesesteak omelette had incredible flavor, and the ambiance made you feel like you were in a hometown restaurant in the Caribbean. Definitely found a new favorite breakfast spot!

We had reserved seating for a family of 7 at Breakfast at Ruiz in South Carolina. Unfortunately, they weren't able to fully accommodate our group at one table--five of us were seated together, while the other two had to sit at a separate table, which was a bit disappointing for a family outing. It was understandable as it is a quaint place and charming. That said, the service was attentive and friendly, and the food was excellent--fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Despite the seating issue, we still enjoyed our meal and appreciated the great hospitality.

A small brunch spot, located in a cute area of town. The Irish coffee was extremely strong! The food was pretty good and the home fries were better than they looked. Our server was very attentive, but there seemed to be a lot of employees and not as many patrons which felt strange since they were just hanging out in the back of the restaurant. read more

We arrived at the party at six and we told him to 15 minute wait. We waited about 11 minutes before we were seated. We split up our party so that we could be seated sooner and were sat next to the bar. The waitress was pleasant and interacted with my five-year-old. And order lemonade, water, hot tea, and hot chocolate for our drinks. I ordered a half size French toast for my five year-old. She devoured all of it. My niece ordered chicken and waffles. She enjoyed it, but she was not a thing of the powdered sugar being on the chicken. Oh, and all I think it's a great spot to go and have an intimate breakfast or brunch. read more

Enjoyed brunch here. Very small, so a 30 min wait time seemed standard if they were busy in the slightest. Parties of 2 recommended. Anything larger than a party of 3 was automatically waiting, unless, of course, the place is dead. Great food! read more

Wonderful breakfast spot we stopped by after a tour of Uni. Of South Carolina. The food was wonderful and the service was excellent. The location is bright and music created a nice ambiance. The staff stopped by to check on us often and made sure we were happy with what we ordered. The brother of the owner came by to greet us and see if we needed anything. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Parking nearby was easy to find and we had a wonderful experience. If we visit again, we plan to be back. read more

Clean restaurant serving a nice variety of breakfast and brunch items. Ample parking behind the restaurant in a lot or along the street. Friendly staff and reasonable pricing. WHEW!!!! I wish I lived closer to Columbia so I could come here more often. I want to start off by commending the staff. They are absolutely spectacular and so so friendly. I felt so welcome and my waiter had no problem giving me the time I needed to look over the menu and also explain some of their menu items and how they are prepared. That always intrigues me. I love that about restaurants. This restaurant is pretty small and has the capacity of about 50 people. There was no parking in the front, so I took a left at the light and parked in the back of the building and walked the colorful path to get to the front door. I chose to have the shrimp and grits. I was told that the grits were made with heavy whipping cream and seasoned very well. So glad I went with this option. It was lovely! They also have different options for their mimosas :), which is always fun. I highly recommend trying this place. You will not be disappointed. read more

Time: 8:53 am Staff is so friendly. They are so kind and make sure to attend to you. Atmosphere/Environment: Very small and cute. Pretty fancy decor. Food: Ruiz Classic Breakfast. Their food is amazing. Eggs were cooked nicely and divine. Bacon was good and crispy. French toast was really good. Everything was delicious. If you want delicious breakfast at a nice price, fancy vibes, and treated with good service then come to Breakfast at Ruiz. Key note: I went on an early Sunday so it wasn't too busy but still gets busy and pretty popular in the community read more
I wanted to give Breakfast at Ruiz another try, and since it was just my husband and me, I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to do so. It was not packed because it was a Thursday morning. The hostess sat us down right away and was very nice. Our server was very friendly and consistent. We both ordered the steak and eggs, but I ordered the grits with the gouda cheese and a side of french toast. The ribeye steak was enjoyable. It had a bit of flavor and was cooked pretty well. I requested a medium temperature, and I received pretty much that. I had a lot of fatty pieces on my cut, but that's just the nature of the beast. I enjoyed it and loved that it was sliced. The gouda cheese was shredded and lightly sprinkled on top of the grits. The grits were nice and creamy. I added a little bit of salt and pepper. They were really good. The french toasts were delicious. The portion is small, but the little crunch takes the french toasts to another level. I would definitely order those again. I am glad I was able to return and have a good experience. Coming when they are not overly crowded may be the key. It was low-key and comfortable, and the food was good. There was no street parking available, so we parked in the back of the strip and walked through the breezeway. read more

Super Cute Restaurant!! There is limited parking in front of the restaurant, but there is parking alongside the street, and there's a parking lot up the street as well. The restaurant seems busy from the outside, but it's only because the restaurant and is intimate in size but very nice inside!! We were a party of 9 and were seated at two tables close to each other. We started with two Mimosa flights that were theee perfect mixtures and ended up getting a 3rd. I had the French toast, eggs the Grits were Amazeeeee and everyone had great reviews on their food. a party of 5 was seated upon arrival. we had a total of three different dishes ( shrimp & grits, wallows, french toast, grits, back on and eggs); food was scrumptious! Service was expedited and excellent. we were not rushed out after completing our meal. The coffee shop next door is with a visit while waiting on your entire party to be seated! read more
This cute, elegant breakfast spot is in a great location with amazing service. I had the Mediterranean Omellet, with feta, garnay cheese, tomatoes and spinach with home fries. It was very nicely presented and very rich and filling. The ambiance is calm, clean and collected. Ruiz is definitely a Must Go To! read more

Highly recommend!! Not much to say other than the food was delicious and the wait staff was so so kind! Sat outside because the weather was nice and it was super enjoyable eating brunch while people watching. I highly recommend the potato's side. read more
This is a very small dainty breakfast spot with a bar in the back. We had great service by Michelle with good food, great portions and drinks. Everything tasted good, shrimp and grits were cheesy, sub roll was soft and meat was seasoned well. read more
