I've come back... again and again. Swell remains one of the best taco joints with the most unique vibe in babylon village. You forget you're on long island, and all the better for it. Fresh chips and salsa still served at every table. Friendly service and great sangria. For what it is, it can't get any better. Its small, even with the recently added veranda seating. The crowds are sort of an unavoidable plague here, for good reason. Just get takeout or deal with it. I've been to swell taco countless times, but only for takeout on taco tuesday's. Tacos (buffalo chicken and beef) are just $1 on Tuesdays. You can't order ahead on taco tuesday, so be prepared to wait about a half hour (they do take other takeout orders). Despite the fact that Swell Taco is preparing probably hundred of tacos every taco tuesday their consistency is amazing. A buddy of mine has been telling me about this place for awhile. We were passing thru Babylon and decided to give it a go. Its alittle hard to find, don't think they have a front entrance. You get in from the back parking lot (almost next to Del Fuego). We started off with their sangria. This one was just too overloaded with fruit. I don't think I've ever made that comment about any sangria before so perhaps it was their fruit choice that made it so overwhelming. For an app we tried the pork nachos. I loved the hell out of these. For dinner I tried 4 different tacos. The fish was really good. Seasoned perfectly. The carnitas was also good, would order again. But the last two I took home. Hardshell beef and a crunch and munch beef. By the time I ate them they weren't very good, which I'll caulk up to the fact I waited too long. Friendly staff with good service. My friend just moved to the area. I found this spot on yelp. It was a very cute place. Loved the decor. We ordered their margaritas, shredded chicken tacos and The 3 Amigos tacos. The margaritas tasted good, I've had better but they were good enough. Out of the 3 different tacos fish, carne asada and shredded chicken I enjoyed the fish taco the most. The chips and quac were ok. The service was good. We loved the atmosphere. If I lived closer to this spot I'd go back to try other menu items. Delicious burritos, tacos, nachos, and everything, but the wait can be gruesome. I'm not sure I've ever seen them have an off day or time. The trick is if you're really craving them and don't wanna wait for a table, call for pick up, and show up cutting through the crowd and to the pick up area and you'll get your food in no time! My fave is the big papa burrito with guac. It's huge and can feed two if you're not starving. But I recommend you go through the menu because you can't really go wrong with anything! read more

Man this place is always busy. No matter what day or time I come there is almost always at least a bit of a wait. Makes sense though their tacos are pretty darn good. If it's your first time coming the place is not that easy to find. From Deer Park Ave there is a small ally way and swell taco is at the end of it. There is a sign (pictured below) at the beginning of the ally in the shape of an oval that says swell taco. Just follow it down. As for the tacos you could order each individually and mix and match whatever you like. Since I am both indecisive and an animal I just ordered one of each which was about 10 tacos. The buffalo chicken and pulled pork were real standouts to me. They are served up by a cute young staff with a cool beachy sorta vibe. Definitely worth a try! read more

This place has always held a spot in my heart as my favorite. However I have not had it in a few months because the wait time is ridiculously long. 40 minutes anytime after 5pm. They recently expanded the outdoor seating area but this still doesn't help. This place is not a secret anymore, they could definitely use a new location or a second location. Note to the food: the tacos are amazing. The carnitas are juicy and the carne asada is really good with the picked onions. Their specials are semi legendary from the baja steak, to the pineapple carnitas to the crispy chicken. They come out nice and hot jam packed with well thought out flavors. I have yet to have a burrito because v the tacos are just so damn good. If it ain't broke don't fix it, right? They also have $6 margarita or red sangria; a good pairing with the tacos. The service is really good as well. All the servers are young but very attentive and helpful. Décor wise it reminds me if a surf shop, there are no TVs and it is quite loud being that it's a small place. I'm sure most people testing this gave been here at least once, I just wish people would stop going here lol so I can go back. Picking up tacos just isn't the same as eating them there. The taco soft tortillas fall apart if you have to reheat them. Basically this place is amazing but they need more room. If they expand I will give them 5 stars forks down. read more

If anyone knows me I truly enjoy food. This experience is just not one that I can say was worth while. They get two stars because of the ambience and the drinks. But the food and service has much to be desired. Perhaps it was just my luck, but I am sure that they are completely understaffed. Also the Burritos... you may have a better chance with Chipotle or even Taco Bell. My burrito had three pieces of steak and full of potatoes and cheese that tasted like it came from a can. It's almost my one year anniversary to my first experience at Swell Taco in Babylon. By far, they have the best nachos on all of Long Island. You can't go wrong with their Beef or Pulled Pork nachos. Literally every single chip is covered with topping. It's large enough to share with (4) people as an appetizer! Their enormous selection of tacos should make everyone happy! I love everything about this place except for the wait for a table and the fact that they are closed on Sunday's! I can only fulfill my love of their food 6 days a week! Sigh!!! This spot has been a Babylon staple for the chill surfer-no-pressure atmosphere, and decent tacos. It's consistent and fresh, but not authentic Mexican by any means--and it doesn't claim to be. It's non-pretentious, but definitely for a target audience of the young and hungry. A decent spot for a group, but if you're looking for amazing tacos, there are some better places in the area IMO. read more

My favorite tacos on Long Island!!! I've been here quite a few times for the tacos during lunch and dinner, but came to try their brunch for the first time this Saturday. They have a large variety of tacos and starters to choose from on their regular menu. They also have different specialty tacos available on certain nights of the week. Everything is always fresh and delicious! My bf and I were most blown away by the brunch. They brunch menu consists only of breakfast burritos. Each comes with eggs and potatoes and some other fixings. I got the Glilgo which included eggs, potatoes, bacon and avocado - amazing!! They also put out a basket of flour chips and this crazy good banana dipping sauce while we waited for our food. Mimosas with fresh berries also quenched our thirst as we waited! The food is all cooked to order so some stuff does take a while to come out of the kitchen. The one major downside of this place is that it is SMALL!! I came a few weeks ago and waited over an hour with my family for dinner on a Monday. Other times it's only been about 20-25 mins, which is doable considering you can grab a drink at the bar while you wait. For brunch there was no line and a lot of empty tables, so I highly recommend coming at this time. The regular menu begins at noon though. Started coming here most likely over a year or so ago and I never had one complaint about this place. The staff is always welcoming and friendly and the food is great. They have a very relaxed surfer beach vibe going on which I love. I always get the two same things because they are so good and I can't get myself to try anything else. I am sure I am missing out considering what I get is so good. My boyfriend usually gets a variety of tacos (shrimp, fish, chicken, etc..) and never once had a complaint. I did try a special once, I believe it was a beer battered chicken taco and it was very good. The San Clemente is huge! One of my favorite burritos. I get it every time I come along with the loaded nachos. As for the Loaded Nachos, they are by far the best nachos that I've ever had from anywhere. I have yet to find a place to compare! The only thing about this place that may annoy people is the fact that it is always so crowded and usually a wait. The parking lot is huge but that means nothing because I always struggle to find a spot. Eventually I do. Staff is Racist. Last night was the first and very last time I will be eating from this establishment! Three friends and I (four African American women) arrived around 8:30 and seating stops at 9. We were told by the hostess they stopped seating but we could order take out, which we did. While waiting for our food we watched the same hostess seat three Caucasian men at a table. We waited until our food was done and politely asked to speak to a manager at which the boy at the register asked what the problem was, when we explained they came up with some excuse about a misunderstanding of when to stop seating. I told them I was disgusted with how We were treated and was going to write a review and that's when the real manager came over looked at our receipt and saw we spent over $50 and offered to give our money back but not an apology. read more

I would have gone with three stars but the service was great. I went on a Thursday so I understand that there was a wait but it took a whole thirty minute for a table for two. They have a cute decor and the stuff on the walls is pretty interesting so that helped the wait. I ordered a shrimp taco in a hard shell since the shrimp wasn't crunchy I decided to go with a crunchy outside. There was something spicy in the coleslaw it was topped with but the shrimp itself was kinda bland and because of that I kept getting a fishy taste... The crunchy chicken taco in the soft shell was however YUM! It had the best texture and with the salsa from the chips over it it tasted amazing. My friend got the shrimp as well and wasn't a fan along with the fish taco which she said was alright but better than the shrimp. The chips were a nice touch and the server was super nice and friendly. There was constantly someone making sure our waters were full and if we needed anything but not in that annoying hovering way. Hidden gem! If I hadn't heard about this place from Yelp I would never known it was there. Located behind the main strip in Babylon, it was cozy yet inviting. Because tacos are pretty much my favorite food of all time, I've been dying to try Swell Taco in Babylon for as long it's been open. I finally got the opportunity on Friday 3/23/18 and it was well worth the wait! In fact, I'm mad at myself for not getting to this place sooner!! I went with a group of about 12 guys from work and although they had to break our group into 3 separate tables, we were just happy to be seated as soon as we walked in and not have to wait for a table because we had less than an hour to get back to work. We told our waitress we were in a rush and she took good care of us. She put our order in right away and dropped our checks right after our meals came out so that we could just leave as soon as we were finished eating. The chips and salsa verde that they put on the table was a great snack to nosh on while we waited for our tacos. The chips came out fresh and warm and the salsa verde was very flavorful. I could tell that they were both made fresh in house that day. For my tacos, I ordered one of each: a pork carnitas taco, a ground beef taco and a fish taco. The pork carnitas was filled with shredded pork, more of that excellent salsa verde, cheddar and pickled red onions, which I love on tacos. This was my favorite taco out of the three. The ground beef taco was the closest to a traditional taco and was loaded with seasoned ground beef, lettuce, cheddar and pico de gallo. I love regular ground beef tacos and this one was one of the best I've had. The fish taco was the one I was most excited to try. I used to make killer fish tacos at a clam bar that I used to work at in Sayville and I've been searching for fish tacos that can compare to the ones I used to pump out. I have to say, the chef at Swell Taco might've possibly taken his inspiration for this fish taco from my fish taco because it was as close as I've ever tasted it. The mahi mahi was fresh and delicious and the chipotle mayo on top of the lettuce, cheddar and salsa brought gave it a creamy spicy bite. Not better than mine, but definitely pretty close. I now know that I made a mistake by waiting so long to try out Swell Taco. I won't make that mistake again. I'll be back before you know it! read more

My favorite thing is the fish tacos and the cheese quesadilla, and the salsa verde they serve with the chips is BOMB!!! Love this place. If you go on a weekend night, you're going to have to wait. Swell is, by far, THE BEST TACO SPOT EVER! They're food is amazing and the atmosphere of the restaurant is super cozy. I'm not a huge fan of Mexican food, but there's something different and special about Swell. I love their crunch & munch tacos. BEST chipotle mayo ever, btw! I took off one star because I've had some issues with the service at times. There was a miscommunication once about my pick-up lunch order (I didn't receive the sides I paid for), and i received a major attitude from the waitresses about it (even though I was being understanding and friendly with them). Also, they forgot to seat my two friends and I for about 20 minutes once, while others with the same party size were being seated after us. Once we said something, thats when they seated us.
